I have a prediction for todays race. Mad Max is going to try a similar move to what he did to Lewis in the last 2 races. Le Clerc is not going to give way and both of them will be out of the race on the first lap.

Being Monaco is irrelevant, what happened to Bottas shows bad luck can strike at any time and end your race. And that's 2 places lost for Lewis. Bad weekend for Mercedes.

Sucks for LeClerc, but I understand and agree with Ferrari's decision to risk it. If the gearbox held, he starts in pole and has a legitimate shot at winning. If they replace the gearbox, he starts fifth and this being Monaco, he ends fifth.

Easy day for Max since Bottas was never really pressuring and once he was out, Sainz was too far behind to bother him. Solid run by Sainz and Pérez and Vettel finally showed some of their old form. And well done Lando to make it three Constructors on the podium.

So we leave Monaco with Max and RBR in first place. However, I expect "normal service will be resumed" by Sunday evening at Baku.

And yet Mercedes was on pole for all three events, won the last two, and Lewis arguably should have won the first running if not for the Red Flag.

AMG and RBR are closer now than they have been in the past, but Lewis is going to be motivated after the...embarrassment...of Monaco. I expect him to win pole and if Max can get second, he might be able to take Lewis into the first corner, but we know Lewis can be patient and he's passed Max for the win more than once late-race.

Lando deserved DOTD. Stellar drive. I was disappointed with his comments on the F1 Post Race Show. Really came across as “Well you know, next race we will be back to having issues. Need to work allot harder.”

Of course all Teams work hard between races. Would have liked to see a little more positivity out of him, but he can be this way at times.

In finishing, GREAT to see the HONDA RA621H with another WIN.
Hopefully Red Bull Powertrains Limited can be successful in its development through 2025. 😉

Lewis will absolutely be motivated. However, I think RBR has an aerodynamic advantage at Baku this time. The RBR/Honda will not be down on power to the AMG unit.

Whats your opinion on the Bottas DNF? Were the axel threads cross threaded in the garage? I missed the first few laps. I don’t believe they remove the tires on the grid after warm up at Monaco do they?

What a boring race. No one ever looked like making a pass. Where there any? I can’t recall one.
Le Clerk was unfortunate. Not as unfortunate as Bottas though. Can that guy ever catch a break? Not even a SC to spice things up today.

Mick Schumacher overtook Mazepin on the first lap.

That was it, wasn't it? Just the one crazy lunge down the inside at the hairpin, and against your teammate. Those two are just bonkers. What has happened to HASS?

As much as I love the history of Monaco, it's really not a track for today's cars. Can't say I'm a big fan of Bacu either, but it does tend to be full of incidents, if not great racing.

I'm Chuffed for Sainz as well...
I like Sainz a lot but unfortunately he’s now in a Ferrari, so I’m less keen to see success. I felt the same way when Kimi went to Ferrari as I’m not particularly fond of the way that team have held the sport to ransom on so many occasions and been treated so favourably. I’d love to see Sainz move on again in a couple of years.

Agreed.

But I am driver guy first so I tend to not let the b.s. from any team get in my way.

I am too generally to be honest and my support for drivers usually follows them when they leave, much like when Lewis went to Mercedes. I’ve read a lot of F1 books over the years though and am not too keen on how Ferrari have demanded preferential treatment in many of the eras. The governing bodies have usually buckled to demands and they’ve been threatening to leave the sport since the mid 1970’s. I don’t support any teams in particular though and support the British drivers first but more than anything enjoy seeing good competition :).

I tend to agree. But let’s be honest for me it’s always about the Drivers WC not the Manufactures WC.
British teams get more support from me, but what constitutes one of those these days? Where they are built? Where the owner is from? It’s very fuzzy lines.

I tend to see any team based in the UK with history here as being a British team. Mercedes are a new version of Tyrell for instance, Renault/Alpine are Toleman , Red Bull are Jaguar etc. As long as they are based here and are driven by British engineering with mostly British staff, I consider them a British team regardless of where the money comes from. Just my perception though.

You’re right though, the WCC is less of an interest for fans but I do like a British driver winning in a British team for of foremost.
