One of the best 24 I’ve seen. Certainly wasn’t expecting the 5 Hyper Cars to finish 1-5. Toyota was dominant.

Nice to see Ferrari take GTE-Pro. Corvette 2nd in front of Porsche was a positive for me as well.

Im really looking forward to 2023. I try to keep threads on topic, but IMSA offers the best wheel to wheel racing today, IMO.

Always go when they come to Watkins Glen. 👍

Michael Andretti is interested in buying a Formula One team. He's talked to Gene Haas, who appears to not be interested in selling Haas F1, so he is also looking at Williams and Alfa Romeo as they are owned by private equity firms who might want to either exit or accept a major Andretti equity stake.

My guess would be Alpha Romeo.

How many grid spots will VER and PER lose?

Or which race? The article doesn't say...

Heavy rain at Spa and Q3 has been red-flagged due to a major shunt by Norris (who was dominating all the sessions).

Circuit is getting hammered with rain and there is a possibility they might not be able to resume.

Exciting stuff! Tomorrow should be interesting, no doubt. Shame about Norris though, best hope is they fix the car for P10 but that doesn’t seem likely does it?

Russell !!

What a lap. So happy for Williams. And good to see Ricciardo in 4th.

Got to be brave to put money on predicting the podium tomorrow!

Great performance from Lando. Such a shame he binned it. He was pole man for sure.
Also some amazing driving from Russell. So close to pole. I was just hoping Max would lock up on that last sector. Oh well.
I wonder what he can do to help secure his Mercedes seat off the grid tomorrow?

I wonder what will happen if Russell gets the better start, will Max feel entitled to the line as it’s ‘only’ a Williams?

Ric in 4th as well, same with Hammy? Going to be interesting for sure, especially if fully wet.

Wet then dry will be the most entertaining then wet again. Being on the right tyres at the right time always throws up some interesting results. Someone (Ferrari?) will gamble on slicks earlier than everyone else and either pull off a masterstroke or bin it.

Hmm I think it’s unfair, with conditions like that, Lando will now take a grid penalty due to having to use another engine, assuming the one in his car is gone now. As Vetell said they should have red flagged the session before that accident. Lando was on for pole.

George though! 😯😱 but I don’t think he will be able to hold onto the position.

Well Max is pretty much the best getting off the line all season, and he’s very very good in the wet so I doubt George will worry him. However if it’s raining I expect carnage on the first lap regardless.

They have spare cars I think, if not the pit crews can rebuild them in no time, they do it constantly. Lando hurt his elbow though so I hope he’s ok to race, they sent him for an X ray on it but I don’t know if they found anything?

That’s up to them, they’ll have to plan it for the best strategy. Unless a crash forces it of course.

They’ve not had spare cars for years. It will be a long night for those mechanics rebuilding his car.

Ah they have spare monocoques and enough parts to build new cars. But yeah it’ll be a long night, still a walk in the park for an F1 team of mechanics.

EDIT: The crowds were booing Lewis again when he was interviewed after the qualifying, I think they can stop it now. It gets tiresome very quickly.
