The real AW upgrade would be truly "independent" cellular that works internationally and doesn't have any feature limitations if your iPhone is turned off.

A rugged "sports" edition will only appeal to athletes if the battery gets a serious bump -The World's most versatile smart watch is worth nothing if enabling all the features and monitoring makes it die within a few hours.

Honestly, I'd gladly take another iteration of the S6/S7 with no new features if they just did a serious battery bump. Would make a huge difference in usability.

Unfortunately I think the only way you can get such an Apple Watch is changing to a lower less power hungry display technology.
I don’t know of any other watch out there as feature rich that also has a long battery life.

Better battery life during workouts and a more scratch resistant screen would be much appreciated.

Btw, I have the AW5 Nike Edition, and the screen is actually less scratch resistant than the regular AW5. Next time I won't get the Nike Edition.

Since when has Apple ever designed something to be rugged? (Cases don't count)

This is by far the worst line up of colors I’ve ever seen on Apple products aside from the pro line up. Even the 13 phones are muted and dull as well as the watches. Hopefully that changes next year.

I've never owned an Apple Watch, and more than likely never will, but I could be tempted if I could get one that didn't make me look like one of the herd of sheep already wearing them.
Why would you care?
The watch is extremely useful... for me. I couldn't care less about anybody else and what they wear.

The series 8 design will be the exact same as the seven. The rugged model (if released) may be the same design but stronger glass and body with some special new band Apple will hawk and make a heap of moolah from.

The rugged/sports version needs a lot more battery life. I might be wrong but I think the SE barely has enough juice for a marathon by an average runner.

Yeah I am on a Series 4 and was planning to upgrade with Series 8 (as I went from Series 0 to Series 4).
I think you did the right thing, considering series 4, 5, 6 and 7 are essentially identical, apart from some rather minor features they introduced over the years, but that really don’t justify an update. Hopefully series 8 will be more memorable.

If you just keep repeating something until it happens, is it really a prediction?
It is a prediction, into a far far away future :)

It is like when a fortune teller tells you: ,,Somebody in your family will die".
,,No Sir, not possible, my whole family are all Highlanders, therefore immortal."

Blood glucose meter will make this the best selling Apple Watch ever and probably even get it covered by insurance.
