and $2000 price tag (titanium case is heck expensive)
Titanium case Watch is currently about $300-$400 more than aluminium Watch.

Titanium Watch 7 GPS + Cellular is $900-$1100.

A rugged Watch with titanium case should cost several hundred dollars less than a current Hermès edition Watch. The Hermès has a ridiculous price considering it adds just the strap and Watch face.

Anything Hermes is ridiculously priced :)

Retiring the Series 3 is so long overdue it's comical. Truly an embarrasment that Apple still sells it. Hopefully a new SE will finally remove S3 from the lineup.

This article neglects the MOST important rumored aspect of Watch 8: inclusion of new health monitoring features from ROCKLY TECHNOLOGIES, especially 'glucose/sugar' monitoring and perhaps even Blood Pressure testing without needed a cuff. Rockley is now testing on people and their new deal with CalTech in Pasadena speeds this up too.

Because its still profitable. More than happy that there continues to be OS updates for it. If its sold on the shelf along with other models with larger screens, I don't understand the issue.

Until better battery, and more frequent complication refreshes come to 3rd party apps, I'm in no hurry to spend top dollar on a new watch with basically the same features as the 3.

Looks like Apple favored the Gents over the Ladies when it came to the color options. Personally I'm happy with my basic watch, especially since I've put a 3rd party metal link band on it. The potential of a liquid metal option does catch my imagination though . . .

Apple would need to do a lot to sway me from my Garmin Fenix watch. A rugged body is one thing, the battery life is an entire different story. I want something that will last more than a day or so under normal use and a few hours during an activity.

If I am doing a 6+ hour bike ride or 2+ run, I don't want to be concerned if my watch is going to die mid event. And no, I don't want to turn off sensor to extend life. I can go two+ weeks on a charge under normal use and about a week or so when doing a lot of activities.

A compromise could be to charge while driving or sitting at my desk, but I hate that it would be charging daily... still doesn't address concerns about dying mid-activity.

This is the last device in my life not Apple.

Better battery life during workouts and a more scratch resistant screen would be much appreciated.

Btw, I have the AW5 Nike Edition, and the screen is actually less scratch resistant than the regular AW5. Next time I won't get the Nike Edition.
This makes no sense; it's the exact same watch as the regular aluminum version with some extra faces and a Nike logo around the sensor.

Where are you getting that the glass is somehow different on the Nike version?

That is what I thought as well and that is why I bought the Nike version. It turns out that (at least for the Apple Watch 5) the screens are not the same. The Nike versions all use Ion-X. As of the Watch 5, the regular watches use sapphire glass. The sapphire glass is more scratch resistent. The Ion-X glass is supposed to be more break resistant.

I believe even today, the sapphire glass is only available on the stainless steel and titanium models. The aluminum versions don't get the sapphire glass.

I did not look it up. I thought I read that or saw that in a review... Maybe DC Rainmaker noted it in one of his reviews.

Not true -

Although it's not easily seen - On the 'tech specs' for the Apple Watch 7:
  • Ion-X glass display on aluminum cases
  • Sapphire crystal display on stainless steel and titanium cases

Ion-X is awful. Ask anyone with a reasonably active lifestyle and owner of a > 1 year old ion-x watch.

Yeah, as others have mentioned, this is not the case. Ion-X glass is used on all aluminum models, both Nike and regular. It is only the stainless steel/titanium versions of the watch that use sapphire glass.

The Nike version is the same as the standard aluminum model.

Believe what you want. My wife's Apple Watch 5 (regular model) has the sapphire glass. Mine, the Apple Watch 5 Nike Edition has the Ion-X glass. After I scratched mine, it took me a couple of calls with Apple support to confirm the difference. I do not know about the 6 or 7, but Apple support confirmed that on the 5 there is this difference.
