Looks like Apple is going to continue leveraging GPU acceleration to show off performance gains in designated tasks.
Tried it with The Frame TV actually. Immediately returned for a different color.Imagine a TV with a white bezel…
I keep thinking I’d rather have a keyboard color-matched to the machine, the way the iMac does it, with a darker shade and a lighter shade in different places. It would be nice if Apple could give users the option when purchasing the Macbook Air in 2022, the choice of both black bezels and keyboard or white bezels and keyboard.
That way the user can configure the option that suits there taste and preferences. Now Tim that would be courage on Apples part!
Not to mention a master stroke for marketing the devices. Keeps everyone happy?
You are not in the minority. You are in the minority of the most vocal MR commenters but they do not represent the real world.I actually may be in the minority but I love the new iMac design, especially with the color choices. Very early 2000s nostalgic Apple.
That’s true if conformity is more important than performance and productivity.Apple needs to remember a lot of business people buy the MBA because it's all the power they need and drops easily into a brief case, and is great for travel. But a Hello Kitty MBA is a no-no in a business meeting. They need to have silver or grey or black.
The bezels don’t look too bad white with those machines. Toss in a notch and then the bezels cause attention to themselves.I don’t understand the hate with the white bezels… to me the iMac looks more in keeping with the keyboard and mouse now than it used to be… on the old iMacs the keyboard and mouse just didn’t seem to fit in…
Yeah I do think the MBP re-design is very regurgitated, yeah the screen is nice etc… but the chassis has pretty much been done before it’s nothing special.I think the render of this MacBook Air looks better, more modern and unique than the latest MacBook Pro models. The thinner profile definitely has an appeal that makes the latest MBP’s seem like they’re from 2006. I get why Apple designed the cases the way they did for internal packaging benefits, but they seem chunky in a bad way, imho.
Way to kill my buzz. I thought I had a slam-dunk comment, and you just crushed it.That’s actually pretty nice on a white wall… The tv just fades away when watching content and you’re left with just the image. Check Samsung The Frame.
Yep like they used to do with iPhones/ iPads. The space grey got a black bezel with silver/ gold/ rose gold getting white. Gives everyone the option without bumping up the number of SKUs enormously. If they offered a dark model with black bezels and keyboard, I'm sure it would sell a lot more than any of the other colours. They should do the same thing with the iMac.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to remove the bezel on a tablet. You need a certain amount of space for thumbs. Even now, if you are holding it with one hand and trying to scroll with another, it can trigger 2 finger gestures by mistake unless you are careful about where your thumbs are. Will be a great laptop but I love my M1 Air as it is. It’s not the latest design, but it’s still a great looking, ultraportable, powerful and efficient laptop. At that price point I am more interested to see where Apple goes with the next iPad Pro. Presumably it’ll have the same M2 processor as the MacBook Air, perhaps thinner bezels which will then give the iPad Pro a notch since it won’t hide the FaceID components.
They have the low end 13” MBP. They could make a low end 14” with an M2 processor, the larger screen and extra ports and sell it in a similar price point. It's not the wacky colors or the notches that are going to drive me away from the Mac, it's their stubborn refusal to create a large-screened notebook with a high refresh rate that doesn't include overpowered CPUs and GPUs I don't need.
I don't know if Apple knows this or not, but there are plenty of working professionals who benefit from expansive screen real estate and additional screen smoothness and responsiveness but who do not do photo editing or video rendering.
It sure would be nice if they'd remember we exist. But then why should they, when they can ignore us and count on us to buy super expensive devices we don't actually need just to get the features they're intentionally withholding. It's starting to feel more and more like extortion.
I've been waiting for years for that rumored 15-16" MacBook Air, but I think it's time to give up and move on.
