The white looks gorgeous!! for the love of god, apple please release an 27-inch version of this! I currently have the 27-inch 2020 edition and I’d love to have the design of the 2021.
We had quite a debate back and forth earlier with the white trim bezel around the LCD display. But it had two advantages over the previous unused black area surrounding the 27" display. As the picture shows any light colored room you seem not have that band of black to distract you as the current 27". That and the white trim you tend to ignore fairly quickly when you are looking at the display screen and it doesn't actually reduce the brilliance/contrast of the display that some people thought black was better doing.

There was rumors that the 27" replacement would indeed look a bit like the smaller 2021 24" iMac. Maybe not as colorful as what Apple released, say a couple of colors, silver and darker grey instead. That same design allowed the entire back to act a heat dissipator in addition to the two fans. It's also a lot easier to carry around then the 27", not so awkward as the curved back with that ridiculous heat outlet around the memory. The 24" uses air intake and exhaust to occur on each side of the base where the M1 CCA resides. Really far superior IMHO.

Yes I packed up a couple of different 27" models and had to carry them a Apple store that was a good walk from the parking lot. So I have opinions about how the design should be a lot easier to transport. :)

There’s not necessarily any contradiction. Summer starts on June 21 according to the astronomical calendar, June 1 according to the meteorological calendar.

The mere fact that Apple has never provided a 32" display except with the Pro Display XDR. The assumption is that current 27" would some how see a redesign featuring a 30" or even 32" display incorporated. I often thought the 27" form factor that fits on most desks a lot easier had so much wasted space around its display design that it grow to a 29.5" display and Apple would call it the 30". Kinda like how the 24" is actually 23.5". :)

So we can remember the black area around the 27" iMac.

I really hate that stupid white bezel. Seeing them side by side like that, the 27” looks so much better.

My opinion
24 inch MX - corresponding to "MB Air". Just Apple normal nice display
27 inch MXpro/Max- corresponding to MBP. Just Apples normal nice display. $2300 or so.*

Although I would love the neatness of a 32 inch iMac Pro with mini LED and Jade 2C replacing the 2017 iMac Pro, I still think a separate 32 inch display and a Mac mini pro/MP is a better setup in the long run for the high end crowd.

*However in the beginning of the 5k era, the perception was that you got a 5k display with a free computer inside as compared to other 5k displays. Apple might do something similar with miniLED and slight price hike.

I really hope they change this poor ugly design ..
Its amazing how old the black bezel look is. Goes back to mid 2007 Aluminum iMacs, shown is a 24".

The current 27" Retina style came out 2015, 2022 is just begging Apple to cast this look finally away. :)

As I said if Apple comes out with something without black bezel you'll get use to it in a day or so. Just like how good the 2021 MacBook Pro looks even with that notch on those 14" and 16" promotion displays. We are all waiting to see what the new model looks like. ;)

I wold love a 5K Retina replacement, Don’t need the Pro specs or price. Start it at $2500 for a base machine. sign me up.

1000 or so zones are not enough. Can be passable for a TV but I wouldn't dream of this on a desktop monitor where you do precision work.

So now the fellow who broke the new about the MBP having a notch says that the 13.3" MacBook Pro will be the laptop at the 8 March Event and will just swap the M1 for an M2 - so same case, same TouchBar, etc.

Based on that, folks are now speculating if the 13.3" MBP is unchanged going to M2, the Mac mini would also be unchanged and going to M2 and would be one of the two desktops launched at the event, with the other being the Mac mini Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max.

This would then mean no iMac Pro, which I still believe will be launched at WWDC alongside the Apple Silicon Mac Pro.

Nobody expects the redesigned larger iMac at the iPad Air/iPhone SE event. The other rumor is just not credible. Kinda like all the rumors saying MBPs we’re going to be announced at last years WWDC, and nothing happening, from several known sources. ;)

So you’re telling me there’s not a metric ton of non-gaming-oriented Windows laptops and even desktops with 1080p 60Hz displays out there in the wild?
I again "lol wut" - If you're buying a Windows laptop with a 1080p 60hz display, you're in the $300-750 range, which means you aren't "debating" anything—you're buying the cheapest functional laptop that you can.

I’ve got a decision to make if it’s an Apple Silicon device. (Probably is.) I enjoy playing pc games in BootCamp. My 2020 27 inch iMac is maxed out and I can access things like MSFS 2020 and Red Dead Redemption II. I’ll probably sit tight for awhile.
100% in the same camp as you, I would miss playing PC games in bootcamp - even as the two hours I spent getting the new Cyberpunk update to run which involved having to uninstall and reinstall a multitude of unrelated Microsoft Visual Studio C++ packages really made me again question Windows worth as even a lowly game launcher.

? I’ve NEVER seen anyone including Apple haters say a bad thing about design of last gen iMacs because they were a design masterpiece.

The M1 on the other hand..a simple search of words ugly+M1 iMac shows pages and pages of unhappy Apple fans.so it’s not even debatable.

the picture you posted is from chunky old iMacs with DVD drive (prior to slim ones) and taken at worse possible angel.

You are complaining about the black bezel? yet ignore the overall epic design?
what about the giant white bezel around the new ones? it’s like power PC iMacs minus all the charm..and lack on Apple logo makes the design like a prototype..

from these beauties:

They could have simply refined the past design..by removing the bezel (easy) ,changing the rear casing like the new ones square (new ones rear look good) ..but the frontal design is just BAD a a big step backwards.

You just commented on a bad thing about the last generation iMacs design. So never say never. ?

Also just before I saw this image and thought "wow, what a great design".

I was not a fan of the design in the beginning, but it grew on me. I like it more and more and I'm looking forward to have that design (probably with black bezels and sadly not in a red option) on the new larger iMac which will replace my 2015 27" iMac.

some people will like it but the point is there is a considerable number of people who don’t like this design, this never happened with any of the past iMacs.

design wise , the first thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is those white bezels..the past gen also had bezels but you’d expect them to remove it in 2020..

second aesthetic flaw is lack of Apple logo in centre leaving that vast empty area in front which gives it an incomplete/ prototype vibe.

and lastly these colors, frankly they look like something that belongs to childrens school/bed room.

nothing like previous iMacs that looked beautiful, sleek, futuristic, professional and powerful.

There is nothing in this design to “grow” on me,this design is bad. and I hope it joins iPhone 5C..

That is not remotely close to being true. Anyone who reads these forums knows that people love to bitch and whine about features don’t like in Apple products. Especially petty complaints like the notch, the chin, or white bezels.

Posting yet another complaint doesn’t make you Neal Armstrong.

Apple's upcoming iMac Pro with a mini-LED display could launch in June, analyst Ross Young said today. Apple has been working on a larger-screened version of the iMac for months now, and if the June timeline is accurate, it could see a debut at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

iMac-Pro-2022-27-and-24-iMac.jpg

Rumors originally suggested that the new iMac could launch in the spring, but Young in late January said that he was expecting a "summer" launch. At the time, Young claimed that panel shipments were expected to begin in June and that a launch could follow in August or September, but he appears to have moved his timeline up.

The 27-inch iMac will be sold alongside the 24-inch iMac as a higher-end version, and to bring it in line with the MacBook Pro, it could be called the iMac Pro. It will feature a mini-LED backlight, and Young today said that he expects it will have "around 1000 zones" and "over 4000 miniLEDs."

Along with a mini-LED display, the iMac is expected to feature a redesigned look and the same M1 Pro and M1 Max chips introduced in the 2021 MacBook Pro models.

I just don't think the M1 processor is so great. There are still many conflicts out there with Microsoft Office programs and even rendering of PDFs on the regular M1 processor. Are the M1 Pro and M1 Max any better with conflicts?
