I've had an OLED laptop for 2 or 3 years and it still looks as good as new. It's only lightly used, but still, it's not crap as it's the best screen on any computer I've ever had.I dont understand. Even now, OLED is crap for laptops and tablet uses due to Burn-in issue and short life span. Why cant they invest double stack OLED for longer life span? If the money is the problem, then Apple is not the only client.
Very real.
like many medical issues, there are several stages.
1. your body can compensate, and your mind is unaware of exposure
2. your body cannot compensate, and you feel the symptoms, but your mind is unaware
3. your body cannot compensate, but you are aware of the reason
4. your body can compensate, but you are already aware.
Most people are in stage 1, so far, with occasional intrusions into stage 2 where they take panadol, make a break and then back to exposure.
Some professionals with decades of screen exposure, are in stage 2 and go to doctors who prescribe meds that do not and cannot solve the root cause. If the issue is unresolved, they may retire. If they can…
I hope this can help you into 3 or 4…
Reducing exposure can do magic, as i witnessed in many sufferers.
But enjoy your stage 1 or 4 if you can
Alternate way is to check for PWM on sites like notebookcheck.net (search PWM there).
Or ask for FlickerFree / EyeCare screens from Apple, which is not in their marketing lingo.
Same here, won’t go near a OLED iPad, iPhones have been getting worse every year with these so called better OLED panels.
More about Samsung.Samsung does not use OLED in their best TV's. That tells you everything you need to know really about OLED.
they will do it, like Apple ask Samsung for iphone X an oled with 1 mil to 1 contrast ratio...after samsung being in the oled tech for a decade and still didnt come up with that....also Apple was the first to come with the idea of pixels shifting thanks to iOS, to prevent burn-in after samsung had that issue for almost a decade
So, they will do it after Apple. You think Samsung or others will not start use mini-led tech in a lot of devices starting next year ?! mini-led is a pleasure for the prof monitors (not for smartphones) until micro-led can have shrink down pixels
I have very rarely wished my iPad were brighter. I very often wish it had deeper blacks.Apple is reportedly not satisfied with the brightness levels of single stack OLED panels
OLED quality is essential for me. Without OLED I retreat.
Apple has called off a joint project with Samsung to use a Samsung-developed OLED display for a forthcoming 10.9-inch iPad Air, according to a new report today from The Elec.
Single stack refers to the current widely used OLED panel structure where red, green and blue form one emission layer.![]()
Apple is reportedly not satisfied with the brightness levels of single stack OLED panels and is also wary of the panel's lifespan, since consumers typically hold onto iPads for longer compared to smartphones, which have a more aggressive upgrade cycle.
Instead, Apple wants to use a two-stack tandem structure for its first OLED iPad that stacks two red, green and blue emission layers instead of just one. This doubles the brightness and extends the panel's life by up to four times.
However, Samsung has only commercialized a single stack structure and is either not able or not willing to supply the two-stack technology, according to the report.
Profitability is also said to be a factor in Samsung's unwillingness to provide the technology. Unless Samsung can be sure that the OLED iPad Air will be sold for a long time, preparing for the back-end module process for the products won't be worth the cost.
Most of the rumors that we've heard about an OLED iPad Air suggest that it's coming in 2022. However, now that Samsung isn't involved in development, The Elec suggests the OLED iPad Air will not see the light of day until 2023. A previous report from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) claimed Apple will release its first OLED iPad in 2023, although no reason was given for the changed production roadmap.
Back in March, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is expected to start using OLED next year, while DigiTimes has also predicted a 2022 release for an OLED iPad, as have sites like ETNews, which rely on supply chain data.
OLED technology is expensive, which is a factor that has thus far limited it to smaller devices like iPhones and Apple Watches. When adopted in the iPad, it will bring improved brightness, higher contrast, deeper blacks, and wider viewing angles.

tha ipad pro isnt 1000 nits, its 600 actually.yes, but the blue pixels fades away like crazy after a lot of use after 1 year..and the gamut/brightness are less..
Apple wants their display also to be at least 500 nits, probably even 600 nits since the pro ipads will soon both will be 1000nits (not just the 12.9)
wow, when did u buy it ? are u using max brightness very very often/using phone outdoors all the time? how much can u stay on homescreen for this icon to appear ,rly? Here’s my OLED burn-in on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I enhanced the contrast but you can see the camera icon from the lock screen and the word carpool and circle from Waze app.

Good for them. But the person using it has to deal with it with what appeared to be a substandard screenand yet the professional reviewers disagree with you, you know, the ones who use actual instruments and stuff
Hopefully new and not refurbedNope, they offered to send me a new one as soon as they saw the photos,
Got it in March of 2020. Have to set brightness to high during daytime. Use Lock Screen a lot for notifications and clock, keep navigation app open all day to help with my job. My iPhone 7 Plus was used the same way for three years without any burn-in because it was not OLED. Maybe my next iPhone will have to be an SE 2.wow,when did u buy it ? are u using max brightness very very often/using phone outdoors all the time? how much can u stay on homescreen for this icon to appear ,rly?
its weird to have a burn in of the camera as the icon in the middle is well,black...isnt it?
