True, but in Lance's case, it didn't take an NFL GM genius to see he had virtually no real game experience. A massive reach.
Yep and yet SF used a #3 pick on him. I'm not saying he shouldn't be drafted. San Francisco traded three first-round picks and a third-rounder to Miami for Trey Lance.

Speaking of which, he's now a cowboy
Niners deal QB Trey Lance to Cowboys for fourth-round pick

The player that the niners spent 4 draft picks to acquire is poetically to traded to Dallas for a 4th round pick

It's like magic...

Let's talk about someone else and get them traded!!

The 49ers have a pretty bad track record with top draft picks recently, aside from absolute no-brainer Nick Bosa. Imagine if they'd taken anyone but Solomon Thomas, or didn't give up all those picks for Lance — they could've kept their original pick in that draft and taken Mac Jones.

I don't think you need a real magician QB in Shanahan's system, and with all those offensive weapons around you. Make good decisions and execute. Brock Purdy does that. Having a more dynamic athlete like Lance running that system was awfully tempting, but it just didn't work out.

The Cowboys obviously see more in him than a third-string backup QB. It may be the high valuation of a #3 pick which is still hanging around him, but I think the Niners had ample time to evaluate what they’re trading away. A single 4th round pick, that’s brutal.

So the Colts/Taylor saga is ongoing. While reports last week linked him to the Dolphins, Indy rejected the offer. I guess the Colts gave Taylor until the 29th to find a team willing to give up draft capitol AND pay him what he thinks he's worth.

A trade could still occur, but with cutdown day tomorrow, its not looking likely as teams are looking to nail down their roster.

So it looks like Kyler Murray is going to remain on the PUP list after today which prevents him from playing the first 4 games. I think if he remains on the PUP list after that, then he's out for the season. I've been reading some rumors/chatter that Arizona is not going to play him at all. Maybe shooting for the #1 draft pick. I can't see them giving up on him so soon after signing him to a mammoth contract.

Its always fun to see who may or may not be on the hot seat and as the season is about to begin. Great minds think alike and so USA today thought it was fun to generate a list

NFL head coach hot seat rankings: Ron Rivera, Mike McCarthy on notice entering 2023

  1. Ron Rivera, Washington Commanders
  2. Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland Browns
  3. Mike McCarthy, Dallas Cowboys
  4. Brandon Staley, Los Angeles Chargers
  5. Josh McDaniels, Las Vegas Raiders
  6. Todd Bowles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  7. Bill Belichick, New England Patriots

My take on this way too early hot seat list is that I think Kraft won't fire BB but promote him out of coaching, but basically give him an offer he can't refuse. Of all of the teams in the AFC East they did the least amount to improve and given the strength of the other teams it will be tough sledding for the Pats. I was watching a YT regarding Belichick from one of the Boston sports writers and he definitely is saying that BB is on the hot seat. They made so much improvements in Mac Jone's rookie year to make so many dumb moves last season that the team needs to definitely show significant progress.

I think Washington could be a dark horse this year surprising people and thus saving Rivera's job. I think Browns, cowboys and Bucs will be looking for new HC next February. The raiders are in an odd position where everyone hates McDaniels (players too?) but they were one of the most profitable teams last season. Davis may very well take a long term view and keep him around.

I couldn’t resist:p

I guess receivers DO matter. Outside fo Kelce, the Chiefs have nothing. Skyy Moore, expected to take a big role this year, disappeared. No run D either.

But as a Bills fan, I giggled :)

I'm really interested in seeing how the Bills bounce back to what could be considered the 2022 season ending prematurely. The AFC East is probably the most competitive division, with the patriots being the only team that did little to improve their roster.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets or the Bills fail to live up to unrealistic expectations.

The Jets will be a tough game for the Bills. Rodgers debut and all that. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bills go the way of the Chiefs in week 1.

So, people tell me that the Bills tend to start the season off hot, i.e., winning, where as the Jets and Rodgers both start the season slow. I think however the Jets, and Rodgers are going to be amped up and motivated. In all honesty, I think its a coin flip.
