The Broncos lose WR Tim Patrick for the second straight season to an injury in training camp. ACL on his right knee last year, Achilles tendon in his left foot this year.

Dalvin Cook goes to the Jets and Zeke goes to the Patriots. Both signed sub-10 million dollar contracts. That puts pressure on Josh Jacobs to sign that franchise tag of 10 million.

How the running back world has changed in the NFL. Zeke is getting 3 million plus a 1 million signing bonus. With incentives he could make up to 6 million. Looks like Cook has a base of 7 million and 1.6 million in incentives.

As a Bills fan, what the F, does everyone come to the AFC East? Not sure how the Jets are going to have two number one backs, both wanting touches.

49ers Trey Lance, the guy they gave up so much for to draft him, is now their third string QB.

So who is the #1?
Purdy - Mr irreverent

I loved, loved, loved that TV series, so much so, that when Patrick McGoohan died, my brother wrote to me to commiserate.

Actually, I can even remember that episode.
Six for Two! Six for Two! A true classic. I think my favourite was the one with Six and Two secluded in a bunker. Always fun to see references to this old series about after so many years.

ah! Well! Patrick McGoohan....Secret Agent (aka Danger Man).....and then The Prisoner. Tremendous actor.

But poor Trey Lance. Maybe all the others ahead of him will get injured.....that happens a lot with the 49ers

One of my favorite actors, no matter what role, he provide such gravitas
But poor Trey Lance
I may sound like sour grapes, or being jealous but its hard to feel bad for someone who graduated college and suddenly is a millionaire.

So I had to google his college stats - He played 3 years at North Dakota State, and only one of those three seasons did he play a full season (the first and last were like 2 games)

NDSU's schedule didn't look all that difficult compared to the power 5 conferences, so he had that going for him. He had one good year yet at a conference/school that had a comparatively weak schedule. With that, he was drafted #3 in the NFL draft. I'd say he's done pretty well for himself.

Lance has taken fewer snaps from high school and through college, than most NFL QBs take in 2/3 of one season.

"Athleticism" is a stupid reason to draft a guy. I suspect Anthony Richardson (who only completed 55 percent of his passes in college - in college!) won't do much better.

I could see him being drafted in the 3rd round, maybe near the bottom of the 2nd, but given how little he played, the 3rd overall was massively over-stating his abilities. No knock on him, and kudos for earning top dollars, but in a day and age where first round picks are expected to play immediately this was quite the mistake by SF

I know its easy being an armchair GM and looking back, but the comments I've made were made during 2019 before the draft.

I don't disagree with you about his financial success. And yes right now there's a lot of very reasonable negativity about whether the 49ers should have paid such a price to draft him.

But a year ago he was to be the starting quarterback on a team that was a serious contender to go to the Super Bowl.....the fantasy of just about every high school quarterback.

And now he's #3....and behind Sam Darnold?

LOL....talk about crushed dreams.

Kyle Shanahan has earned the benefit of the doubt in evaluating quarterbacks. He must've seen enough in Trey Lance to convince the 49ers to push in so many chips to draft him so high. Whether they would have successfully developed him if not for the injuries, I guess we'll never know.

Maybe Brock Purdy's success will inspire more teams to change the way they evaluate quarterback prospects.

Yeah, they basically cut Jimmy G and it was Lance's team - well that didn't play out too well. I'm not down on Lance, I'm sure he's playing his heart out. He's in a really good situation given the millions he's earned but at the end of the day, he failed to live up to other people's expectations.

The thing is, from what I heard Purdy played conservatively, within his ability and didn’t immediately try to be Tom Brady or Patrick Maholmes. When you just step into a team it is wise to let the older, more secure coordinators do the talking for a while.

True, but in Lance's case, it didn't take an NFL GM genius to see he had virtually no real game experience. A massive reach.
