Harbaugh to the Chargers...

Undoubtedly a good coach, who might bring success to the team…

…at least until he tires of it, or it to him. Probably both. Not the kind of coach who spends a career in one place.

And make no mistake, it's just as much about him, as it is about the team.

That's his deal.

Is Josh Allen this generation's tragic sports figure? A'la Dan Marino..... He puts up incredible stats, seemingly an elite franchise QB... But seems destined to get eliminated in the playoffs every season.

Allen in fun to watch. If, and when he gets into a situation where the rest of the team, and coaches, play up to his standard, he can be a champ. Like Elway, who seemed to be condemned, but escaped that fate. Marino never did.

Because they have a QB. And some offensive and defensive studs. And that beautiful palace they play in.

Actually, considering their talent, it's a crime that Staley couldn't win with that team.
Yup. It is a desirable job.

He had a little success with them. It all fell apart once the injury bug hit them too...

I find it odd as well since he was a defensive coach.... and the chargers lost a whole lot of close games mostly because of their Defense or Special teams, while their offense was really good. Harbaugh being an Offensive minded coach is a little worrisome as that team's issues lie on the other side of the ball... Will be interesting to see who he fills his staff with... Have to imagine he goes with a big name established guy to run the defense.

This is why I thought Belichick would be perfect for this job... He would definitely fix the Defense and ST as that's his specialty.

Is it really?

They don't have much of a fan base, the owner is generally known as a penny pincher - at least that was the vibe in years past.

Conversely, looking at the salary cap, the chargers have work in front of them, they are almost 46 million over the 2024 salary cap.

In other news, the Falcons look to hire Raheem Morris and Bill Belichick's best chance of landing a coaching position has evaporated. I don't thin he interviewed in Washington, and for a new owner wanting to make a splash, its possible that they pull the trigger on him but so far there doesn't seem to be much interest

Maybe he's just looking but he has to be thinking about taking a year off or something to see if he wants to jump back in right a way. Lol, can you imagine if he got a job being in the booth.
My take is that he was anxious to get back to coaching, the most wins by a coach is a record that he wants. Personally, it may be a struggle for him to get too at this point, he's 71, and he's 27 games from surpassing Shula.

There are two teams left with openings, Seattle, and Washington. My uneducated opinion is that he's not a good fit for Seattle, he could be an intriguing hire for Washington. With that said, he's 71, and his record without brady hasn't been stellar, plus his ability to identify and draft talent has been suspect these past few years.

Bill's age is a problem. Not functionally, he's fine. But what if he decides to retire in a few years? Teams want stability at coach and don't want to have to start over again in a couple of years.

To be honest, is Belichick good enough to take a new team in hand? The last few years at the Patriots didn’t show him as being capable to mold a coaching staff into top quality.

Bill is a very good coach. But as a GM...not so much. Many of his draft picks have been out there. And he needs to let his coordinators coordinate. Bill wants control of everything and that doesn't work in the modern NFL.

Damnit!!! Not because he went to the Chargers, but because he left "Big Blue"...

Can you blame him? They cut his pay, suspended him, let the B1G suspend him etc.

Why would he want to stay?

Feature, not a bug. He will have time to build a team without unrealistic expectations from the fan base.

I mean can you imagine if had been hired as coach of the Cowboys? Anything less than 10 SB wins in the next 5 years is unacceptable....... ;)

During pre-game warmups, Travis Kelce told Justin Tucker he needed to move because their QB Patrick Mahomes had to warm up. So Kelce kicked his ball away and threw his helmet.

Wow, more Chiefs arrogance. The Ravens are the home team, Mahomes can find a different spot.

I think ole Travis is letting his dating a music superstar get to his head.

Lamar Jackson is friggin' ridiculous.

I hate to say this, as a Bufalo fan, but I think the Ravens won that 2018 draft. Bills could have had Jackson (and Mahomes earlier, traded out of that spot), passed on both of them. Josh is very good, but I doubt his "championship pedigree." Despite your talent, you either have it or you don't - the ability to turn it up when it counts. Josh had that amazing AFC Championship (13 seconds not his fault), but divisional losses since.

Bit painful to watch. Bad call by Reid, should have been a FG. Missed PI by the refs for a potential TD. Two calls for holding, but they actually slipped in the rain. Took a turn for the worse in the second half. Get this over with.
