Interesting stat flashed up in Lions game.

List of players with 40 rushing TDs before age 24. Barry, Emmitt, Jim Brown, a couple others and Jahmir Gibbs, Lion, today. Sorry, didn't remember the others.

What a day of blowouts and what looked like a blowout but with the other team getting their mojo and catching up. Football in a nutshell, I guess. The Jags/Texans came was interesting at the end and I watched the Dolphins run over the Bills. San Francisco made a valid attempt at coming back but the Rams still beat them handily.

The Jags had the game in the bag until their offense went full derp mode in the 4th. They gained 11 total yards--11 YARDS😳. T-Law's fumble on the final play was the 🍒on the 💩 pie.
I don't know. The Jags offense was a pile of derp for most of the game. They got one of their touchdowns because an idiot Texan ran into the long snapper and that was a 15 yard penalty, so they got a TD instead of an FG. The Jags have been winning with a strong D, but the offense is weak and at times really ineffective. If you can stop the run and force Trevor Lawrence to beat you, you are halfway to victory. That isn't to say the Texans O hasn't been a bucket of vomit also; their short yard game is legendary in its awfulness. The Jags were gifted great field position multiple times by Texan turnovers and also returned a punt for a TD.

Yesterday was a contest to see which team could step on their own johnson the most times and the Jags made the extra effort in crunch time.

Trevor Lawrence has varying degrees of suck when hits the field.
Yesterday: QBR 27.8, 13/23 for 158 1 TD/1 INT.

The Texans were starting their backup QB, and the right side of the O-line (RG, RT) was on the practice squad last week.

The Jags might have been in FG range on the last drive except one of their lineman went hands to the face and got flagged.

Another "defensive" game last night?

Gruden, I know, I know, who cares what he thinks, has come out saying get rid of the Thursday night game.

His argument, in a nutshell, is that by Thursday players, and coaches, aren't rested and mentally prepared enough to play again. He may have a point.

Player's welfare, or even the quality of the game have no bearing. There's one thing and one thing only that drives the NFL - the almighty dollar.

When owners choose cheaper astroturf over actual grass, its because its cheaper and they can maximize their profits, doesn't matter of some of their players blow out their knees. When they play a game in London, or elsewhere, and the flights are like 6+ hours, doesn't matter because they're trying to open up a new revenue stream. Thursday games are here to stay because the NFL makes billions

Agreed.

I still like him as well and I've forgiven him. Not sure if I needed to forgive him, but I have.
I wasn't bothered by what he said - was it poor form to put something in writing, absolutely, could he conduct himself better, you bet. Did Goodell go out of his way to punish him, and make him an example, yes.

I find the Raiders good for my soul. As a Steelers fan, anytime I feel depressed, I think of the Raiders, or the Browns, or the Bengals.

But after this many years of Tomlin, my expectations are low. He hasn't done anything without Cowher's players and I doubt he ever will. Since I have come to accept that, I don't get worked up when we suck. Its the rule, not the exception. Instead, I am pleasantly surprised when we win.

One of the biggest issues I see with the steelers is that
They don't have a franchise QB, and haven't had one since Big Ben retired. They tried by drafting Kenny Pickett in 2022. Why didn't they try to find another QB when the writing was on the wall with Roethlisberger? I mean he over stayed his welcome by 2 or 3 years

They play good enough to make it into the playoffs (barely) more often then not, but bounce out fairly quickly. That kills your draft placement. They've never embraced the notion of a rebuild, they keep just trying to plug a whole, fill the gap with an ok-ish QB and they do ok during the regular season but don't have the talent or depth to bring them any further.

To be fair, the Ravens and Packers avoided this by getting a QB later in the first round. It is possible. Heck Mahomes wasn't even a top 5 pick by the Chiefs.
