Lando really missed a golden opportunity yesterday.

With Oscar out, he should have made a better job of it. Instead he starts 2 spots in front of his team mate and he’ll be on him in no time.

Anyway I expect red flags will change the result quite a bit. I see Max picking up the win. Let’s face it Laswson is t going to be allowed to bother him at the start. Good result for him though.

Max in another world again. He’s coming for you Oscar. 😉

Great podiums for George and Carlos. Great day for Williams. Very happy for James. DOD to Carlos. 🙂

McLaren drops the ball for Lando again….. More lost opportunities…… More proof that Zak only cares about the WCC and its money. 😉

Listening to the Sky Pundits (Bernie not included) and their mental gymnastics like having the stomach flu.😂

On to Singapore.

Is RedBull better without Horner?

I’m not sure yet. I think they seem much more aggressive under Laurent. The call to hold both cars till the end of the Q3 yesterday I don’t believe would have happened under Christian.

I think they have also found something in the car as well. The Monza upgrades were a big positive.

Then you have Max in a very happy place again. He can make up for allot when he’s on that island….

Is Red Bull better without Horner?

Yes, but their return to form is not all down to Horner being tossed. As noted by Glideslope, the Monza update package has been huge for low-downforce tracks (of which Baku effectively is), but that was started a year ago under Horner. And it likely will do nothing for them at Singapore, which has traditionally been their "bogie track".

But I do believe that Laurent is willing to listen to Max at a level Horner was not. So we're seeing Max's feedback being listened to and Max in a more happy and relaxed state which is allowing that "old Blade Runner magic" to return and elevate his performance.

Another Master Class from Max. Still do not think he can take the WDC from Oscar or Lando, but he could mathematically stay in the hunt through most of the Americas run. Milton Keynes has reason to celebrate tonight with both cars from both squads scoring points and best results for Lawson and Tsunoda.

And a full on Disaster Class from McLaren, who produced enough bottles across the past 24 hours to stock a grocery aisle. Piastri cracked under the pressure, jumping the start then anti-stalled so hard the entire field passed him on the grid and then he just overcooked it way wide and way fast into the wall. Coupled with his visit into the barriers in Q3, if Norris (and Max) can keep the pressure on him... He at least escapes a grid place drop at Singapore as the stewards decided not to have his five-second time penalty carried over to that race.

Even without McLaren stuffing his second pit stop in as many races, Lando did little to take advantage of Piastri's mistakes. Only two spots ahead of him on the grid and he lost a place both at the start and the re-start.

Russell's strategy of "slow and steady wins a podium" came through again, and with Antonelli's finish and Ferrari floundering, Mercedes moves past them into 2nd in the Constructor's Championship.

The past 24 hours for Ferrari were second only to McLaren for failure. Even with a double points finish, the Italian Press is going to be calling for Vasseur's head tomorrow so he will be very happy that he has the new contract in hand.

And Carlos has hopefully finally shaken the monkey off his back with his first podium with Williams. Albon did not have a fun weekend. He finished 11th, but when his 10 second penalty is applied, he will drop to 17th.

Do you feel Laurent being an engineer is having an impact as to trying new methods? I can feel that change…

Interesting race. Was very surprised that Lando wasn’t able to make progress. Effectively losing 2 places at the pit stop was unfortunate. But his start and restart after the SC were down to him (especially the gap he gave away at the SC restart).

Great drive from Sainz. Good to see another Williams podium.

Max probably drove well. Hardly saw him!

Was very surprised we only had the one SC after yesterday.

Same....

And I think Max is going to win the title...

He’s definitely going for it. We will have a better picture in Singapore. If they win there all bets are off. If the RB21 falls off from the High DF setup there then it’s probably still Oscar’s WDC. Today’s DNF was not helpful to Lando thanks to another blown pit stop by his crew.

And what happened to Oscar on the start? that was nuts. He also fooled Alonso into a jump start.

Another processional race, where your qualifying position dictates your race finish. Until they find a way for circuits to be built, where drivers can pass other drivers, it becomes monotonous to watch.

Leclerc and Lawson were rude to not let Lando back past them after that pitstop.

Zak Brown in Oscar's ear after that start.
