Is Red Bull better now that Horner has left? No, worse off, the new guy, he has no backbone, not an ounce of courage, he has done nothing Horner would not have done, where are the changes? Why is the number 2 driver still in the car? He should have been fired at the start, end of FP1 in Australia.. 100 drivers in F4 to F2 that could have taken his place, maybe even had podiums, at worst be 17 races better off...

He has done nothing since taking over.. Time will tell, but not 1% of the success is due to him.. Maybe 2026 will be different, hopefully a better #2 driver, right now he is costing the team points and money... Really Mr J Stewart ESQ would have been a better driver.. But they stay with someone that is at best a great bus driver for the catering team.

I think we all know Red Bull firing Horner wasn't about performance. Internal power struggle using an opportunity to get their people into place over time which has been going on for a while. They're no longer a top 3 team and I would be surprised if they were in the top 3 next season but time will tell.

More to the point, why? Why put up with the drama llama's of the FIA? You have something from £52m to £100m+ to spend.. Why go to a seriously stupid formula like F1? What has he to prove? But if I was to say.. Audi? Maybe Hass? Maybe Aston Martin? But really it would be the in his interest to be part of the clownfest? He should look at Lemons 24/WEC..

I heard he settled for a lot less so he can return to F1 in 2026.

But where will he go?

Reports I have seen say GBP 75 million / USD 100 million.

Cadillac have already formally rejected any rumors he will go there.

His going to Alpine to become their new Team Principal has been a suggested target for multiple pundits. Either the team would stay owned by Renault and Horner would take an equity investment or Renault could sell the team to a group of investors (which would including Horner, Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone).

Yea, the settlement numbers are all over the spectrum. I’m thinking he will land at Alpine, but it’s a guess at best.
TBH the money is immaterial. What's the difference between £50 Million and £100 Million. Both a lot of money (and a fraction of what his wife is worth).

Alpine could certainly do worse. But I'm sure there will be a few twists and turns.

My goodness. Horner, Briatore, and Ecclestone. I’ll need to prepare for that…

He's married to Geri Halliwell?

And David Beckham.

He's still married to Geri Halliwell?

Fixed that for ya.

If Horner ends up at Alpine, I hope that Ren-oh management sees it as a chance to usher Briatore back into exile retirement and declare the start to a new era.

Hard to take that program seriously otherwise.

Horner and Briatore are pretty tight, which is likely fueling the rumors/suggestions. So I would expect Briatore would remain if Horner becomes Team Principal. Honestly, it might be the one thing that keeps him in his role as Executive Advisor with Luca de Meo gone.

Either way, Alpine eventually needs to hire a Team Principal. While Briatore is performing those duties, as an employee of Renault and not Alpine and lacking the required FIA license for the role, he cannot officially hold that role (racing director Dave Greenwood is currently the official representative of the team to the FIA).

Watching Max today on the Nürburgring Nordschleife (another record) was allot more enjoyable than F1. You couldn't wipe the smile off his face if you tried. F1 is his job. GT3 is his heart. You can feel it just watching. I believe him now when he says he want's to finish his F1 career at Red Bull.

The Race will be broadcasting NLS Race 9 in about 12 hours. :)

I really do not see Max going to Mercedes in 2027 or 2028. If he enjoys his time in the Ferrari 296 GT3 and the Scuderia can get their act together next year, maybe Elkann can lure him to finish his career with them like he has with Lewis. :p

Maybe with some serious support for Verstappen Racing in GT3. Otherwise I still believe he’s not interested in driving for Maranello in F1. We will all have a better idea once the 2026 Teams are on track. Red Bull may hit it with the chassis design. I’m just not at all confident in the RBPT/Ford. To me Ford Racing will never be anything but a V8 with a Straight-Cut Dog Box.

Yup. Just watched his co-driver bring it home first at the checkered flag.

Impressive. You don't see Max this happy in F1. Lulham is quite the talent at 22. I won't take the thread too far off though. The exposure of GT racing to tens of thousands of race fans from today was incredible. They will be back for the 24hr race in 2026.

I fully applaud Verstappen for having an interest in racing other classes, like the revered drivers of the past did, and hope he does more of it.

But let's not get carried away. He was competing in an NLS series race, on a weekend when its best team wasn't on the grid.

It's still only the equivalent of getting his feet wet, as driver and team owner.

There are more rungs on the ladder in GT racing, and many, many places to race a GT3 car, if the formula is what piques his interest in particular.

"F1" means F1, but GT3, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary as a formula, omits a lot of context when used as a term in isolation. NLS? DTM? SRO? IMSA? WEC? They've all adopted the GT3 regs as classes in their series.
