So basically for Mr Norris to lose at this point he would have to be the most incompetent driver in the history of the FIA, in all divisions/classes/formula.. If Mr Norris does not win, he should not drive in any formula other than in the Catering Bus Drivers Championship...

McLaren sabotaged itself with those stupid papaya rules. If they lose the drivers championship this year, it is their own doing. And they deserve to lose it as well.

Lando is the stronger driver so just secure him the title before Max gets it.

Oh no, papaya rules and all that. They started these shenanigans - so they have to stick with it, what with all the hyperbole around equality from the senior folks there.

Hopefully Max Verstappen does win the drivers title. Then McLaren can do some soul-searching about how they let everything fall apart, the top management at the race team should go.

They could have sorted this out ages ago instead of mucking around with their stupid papaya rules, when they had a driver well ahead in the championship. But no.

So, if I understand things, McLaren really lost before the race even started, no?

Honestly, I often read posts in this thread, but, avoid posting here (it can get rather heated from time to time). But, I simply had to comment on this latest McLaren disqualification.

To add, Norris had an awful start, I prefer him starting from 2nd. I feel he does better, as the chaser...

How did they manage to run the cars that close to the limit to get the disqualification.

If you are going that close to the edge, one day you’ll fall over the edge.

That start, honestly was the worst I have seen in 40 yrs, worse than the poor bloke left on jack stands.. Impressive talent by the driver of car #1... I was expecting the mother/father and 2 kids of a crash, but Lando just sails off the track at turn 2.. Then 2 weeks later, we get the notice of a potential DQ.. Max, Lando, Pies, everyone already out of US airspace by the time the old timers figure out the fax machine..

Yeah Kimi was impressive on tires that almost did the entire race distance. Shame he jumped the start to lose fourth. Oscar not being able to get past him on 30 lap fresher tires was frankly a bit embarrassing.

Nice to see both the drivers and pit team at Ferrari give Elkann the middle finger - the drivers by climbing the grid and the pit team by executing slower than ever. :p

So where did #4 and #81 finish before the DQ?

Incredible, I miss one race and it’s a McLaren Meltdown. Certainly wasn’t expecting this. I’m curious if there ever was a fuel issue for Lando. Maybe it was “Plank Preservation?”

Anyway, stellar drive for Kimi. Watch this space. He’s helping Toto forget about 2014😉
Nice to see George on the podium, although I don’t think he had anything for Max even if he hadn’t abused his hards on the out laps.

Master Class drive from Max once again… Max is a shark in a pool of seals right now…

On to Qatar.

I’ve never seen anything remotely heated in here. I’ve seen strong opinions on off topic items a few times, but hardly cringe worthy. Although TBF, my version of heated is probably higher than most in here. 😉

I slightly agree with this. I feel when Norris is on pole, he isn't the best starter. Now, off pole, i.e., a chaser, like Lewis, I feel he reacts better and quicker.

Merely my opinion...

I agree with Lando on pole. It’s like a curse for him. He didn’t progress chasing Kimi last night. Although we don’t know what McLaren knew on plank wear at the time. Certainly seemed on the radio they were telling him to send it.

Might be from Zak having dinner with Fred on Thursday at Guy Savoy. Fred can be influential at times… 😉

If Mclaren doesn't introduce team orders now, they deserve to loose the WDC. Max is only 24 points behind Lando now.

Lando is the stronger driver so just secure him the title before Max gets it.

McLaren isn’t changing anything. Lando has the sponsorship monies, the social media exposure, and the personal friendship with Zak. The Silverstone upgrades were the end for Oscar. It got in his head and lead to his overdriving and mistakes. I’d like to see him go to another team in 2027.

The problem at the pawpaw team, there is no adult supervision.. No one to control the teenagers..

This is it. Andreas could be, however he still answers to Zak regardless of the misinformation that flows from his mouth.

I do think Oscar has the maturity. He simply has to many people living in his head currently. It’s the Zak Brown Syndrome.

So now we will learn just how serious McLaren is about securing the WDC to go with their CC. Lando goes into Qatar 24 points ahead of Max (and Oscar) and needs to leave 26 points ahead to win the WDC that weekend.

Personally, if McLaren does not throw their full weight behind him doing so, they're idiots. They need to give Lando preference for qualifying and race strategy and if they can get Lando those two points by forcing a position swap with Oscar if he is ahead, they order Oscar to do it.

Letting the WDC decision go to Abu Dhabi when they could secure it in Qatar would just make them look like clowns, IMO.

Respectfully, they already look like clowns.

Any thoughts on Horner replacing Andy Cowell at AMR? Looks like it’s happening.

Personally I am skeptical. Horner is said to want an ownership stake in whatever team he goes to so he cannot so easily be sacked again and Lawrence is on record saying he is not interested in doing so. Plus does Adrian, who does have an ownership stake in the team, want to deal with him again?

Andreas Seidl and Mattia Binotto are said to be on the short list. Not sure how easy it would be to steal Binotto from Audi, so my guess would be they hire Seidl.

I am not a Max fan, but he can certainly race, and I respect that. No arguments from me there.
So, at this rate, we could end up with another jaw dropping Abu Dhabi finale...

Dull race, and it’s opened up the door for Max to win the title with the disqualifications. I have a feeling George Russell will be world champion before Lando as the Mercedes is rumoured to be good for 2026 and I think he’s a more competent driver tbh.

Antonelli driver of the day without a shadow of doubt, and a great second place for George.

Onto a dreadful circuit in a country that shouldn’t be on the calendar and I think we’ll see the title then go down to the wire. Whatever spices up the show.
