The most-recent Race podcast focused on Newey's appointment (condensed version here) think that Christian Horner may still end up in AMR, with the likeliest position as Group CEO. Andy Cowell was both Group CEO and Team Principal and with Cowell moving over to work with Honda and ARAMCO on the powerplant side and Newey taking the TP role, the Group CEO role is currently open.

Under AMR's current management structure, Newey as Managing Technical Partner was effectively equal with Cowell, so one would expect Horner as Group CEO would be the same with Newey, now that he holds both the TP and MTP roles (and is an equity holder in the team). This would allow Newey to focus on the technical and development side of the chassis while Horner would handle the team and sponsor management roles (something he is admittedly very good at).

Would Horner also manage female relations within the team? I expect their head of Human Resources is expecting an upturn in work.

This would be almost identical the McLaren’s structure. Or am I missing something?

Honestly, I am not sure I would want to work for Stroll.
Alas, if you have a stake in the company and all that, I suppose that makes things different.

Like others have mentioned, I did not think Newey was the Team Principal type. Interesting times ahead.

PS: Is Horner coming in next?

Newey should stick to what he does best and that is engineering and design. I do not think he will make a good team principle. A team principle is the figure head of the team and in my opinion that is not Newey. Do I wish him well? yes of course but as a team principle? no.

I tend to agree. But maybe he fancies a change.

Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if Adrian chafed at yet another Team Principal "hemming him in" and decided the best way to prevent that was to become the Team Principal.

When he was at Williams, Newey's contract gave him input into race operations and driver signings, yet Frank and Patrick (Head) routinely sidelined him. When they sent Damon Hill packing, that was the last straw and he went to McLaren. But at McLaren, he often butted heads with Ron Dennis which then sent him to Red Bull. Early on there, he had an active role in race operations, but I cannot help but feel that perhaps Horner started to sideline him in recent years, which might explain why the car's direction went the way it did (as it sounds like Horner trusted the wind tunnel and CFD more than the actual people to design the car).

So he joins Aston Martin as the senior technical staffer and takes an equity stake in the team. And then Andy Cowell comes in and promptly silos the technical and race operations sides of the team. And with the 2025 car a disaster and going backwards, Newey may very well have felt "hemmed in" again and not having the flexibility he felt he needed to not just properly design the 2026 car, but also develop it.

McLaren is a prime example of letting someone else than the principle be the figure head outwards. Perhaps this will be similar.

Grid for the sprint.

Max complaining about handling. Car is bouncing in the corners.
Alonso was on fire with that P4. Maybe he is trying to impress the new team principal!

Might well have been a funeral in the McLaren garage after they got pole position.

They didn’t look happy at all.

What the actual h e 2 hockey sticks was that farce? Really someone thinks that is a viable series of events? Racing zamboni's would have been a better waste of time... I have no idea how anyone thought this farce of an event was viable.. Clearly folks need to be in a mental health ward...

Russell -v- Norris, the war has started. The media is hyping it up to fever pitch.

Sorry. :( Not a good day for Norris.

Red Bull have stated they will announce their 2026 driver line-up next week before Abu Dhabi and Ted Kravitz is reporting that Isack Hadjar will join Red Bull and Yuki Tsunoda is likely going to be shown the door.

Logical. I like Yuki, but Issac is better at setting up a car IMO. Should be interesting.

Ted Kravitz's gran could set up the car better than Yuki..Really the lady that finished last in the Ladies Series would be a better choice for Yuki's seat...
