I expected George to win before the weekend started and I am doubly sure it will happen now. I believe of all the drivers he has best-mastered the energy strategy so he never finds himself out of battery power and therefore is significantly faster than anyone else - Ruth Buscombe on F1TV said he had 20km/h on the field at the end of the longest Straight Mode section. So I think he will "pull a Max" and be 30 seconds up the road by the time the first pit stops happen and therefore cannot be undercut nor overcut.
Sounds about right to me. But F1 is not usually that predictable. I think there will be a few DNF’s tomorrow.

We were looking forward to Apple presenting the Formula One TV feed into the US. We assumed that the original Sky broadcast team would be coming along for the ride. Apparently not! I’m not sure where these folks on the Apple version come from but it is clear that they are rank amateurs compared with Sky. We can hardly stand to watch the constant prattle from these F1 “experts”. Hey, Apple, please find a way to engage the original broadcast team that appeared with ESPN. No stars at all with this team.

We’re back! Good to let all the speculation end and see some hard data.
Mercedes really have a big advantage as many expected. A lot has been made of the gap, but I suspect Max might have got closer had his rear axle not locked up. Glad he was okay.

Ferrari looked good, but what advantage will they get at the start over those in front with their small turbo? Could make the race start interesting.
Alonso wasn’t as off the pace as some had said.

Without the MGU-K issue I still think Max would have been .3 off P1. It will be interesting how he drives Sunday. He clearly can’t stand these car/regs. Even Lando was complaining today. Lewis is even harsher but he’s so diplomatic that it doesn’t come across that way.

Sky is available as a menu selection towards the bottom of scrolling. I can see it. I believe you need a ATV subscription for SKY. I’m not certain though.

The default commentary track is F1TV's. As @Glideslope noted, you can select SKY from the menu (I have confirmed this) and you need to have an AppleTV subscription (I believe SKY was an option for F1TV subscribers last year, but I had enough of them when I watched on ESPN so I have always used the F1TV team).

I assume you’re referring to watching on a TV as opposed to Apple TV on an iPod. I don’t see any options on a iPad. Thanks, I’ll check it out this evening for the race. Here’s hoping …

Should still be an option on iOS/iPadOS I would think.

Alpine's Dave Greenwood had an interesting post-qualifying interview.
Q: "Why do you believe qualifying was such a struggle?"
A: "We ran two cars. During pre-season testing, everyone focuses on a single car."

Christian Horner will fit right in there. Build a car around Gasly and leave the #2 driver in the wind. 😛

Oh no Max! Not good to have technical issues like that RB! But could we actually have BOTH RB drivers in the top 5 this season? Look like it. Will be VERY interesting to see how many places Max makes up tomorrow.

Audi mid field, I thought they would do well, never underestimate them as they have a TON of racing experience as a manufacture, Cadillac's battle of words not helping them though lol.

Just finished watching qualifying thru Apple TV on my laptop (M2 Air). I have to admit to not missing Martin Mumble's unintelligible grid walk whatsoever. The new crew is more understandable to the average American, and Palmer and Montoya both represent more recent F1 driving experience than the Sky folks. But what I would really like is for Apple to get the old Speed Channel team back - Matchett, Hobbs and even Diffey if necessary.

While he waits for his main case to go to trial, in the interim a judge has ruled that the FIA, FOM and Bernie Ecclestone must pay £250,000 worth of Felipe Massa's legal costs to date.

Sour grapes from Massa.

I don't see Lewis Hamilton sueing over the 2021 debacle. He would have more of a case than Massa but it's all just history and water under the bridge now.

Lot's of folks are asleep so this will take off in about 6 more hours... again.

Yeah, over a curb, foot to the floor, straight to the scene of the crime, looks sus like a new boy error.. Ozzies are not going to win home races?? Cursed maybe??

3? We had 22, now 21, maybe 19 by lap 1 [both the toys from AMR out] maybe a shunt at the 1st corner.. If we get 10 by the flag, that would be a lot.. I go for 10 cars at the end... 10.. out of 22/21 ...

At the circuit today, flew in last night from Perth.Usual buzz at this event, particularly off circuit.

As an ex F1 driver, he is the only one that gets real access to the teams, drivers and others. Perhaps you could show him the respect, that all those people give him.

Why am I surprised that your interpretation is incorrect. His car had some power issues from the start of the formation lap, as the car tried to index the gears, with some strange power issues. He seemed to have got a power surge has he hit turn 4, causing what @CWallace correctly described.

Funny you say that, as it was exactly what you would do as a new boy, panic, what Pies should have done, is limp back to the pit, slow as molasses, slower than the rocket crawler did in 1969... Slow, then let the PHD's make sense, maybe pit lane start, maybe he was confused, maybe not..

What is not in dispute is that the 2026 regulations are dangerous, Max's crash, 100% failure of a mode or code deep within the system.. Maybe this today with Pies was the same.. I hope not, but I have this feeling we are going to have a fatal in 2026, if the regs are not banned..
