Do we really need the commentators to read out the race control messages that are displayed on screen? I can read them myself. I'm sure they mention them when they are going to affect the sharp end of the race. If they're not affecting points paying places then they're not that important.
Yes, for the visually impaired, or blind viewers, and it does add context to the broadcast..

China Sprint Qualifying:

Yeah, the start is going to be something... I hated sprints, they serve no useful purpose, and they usually don't and are a waste of time.. But given the uselessness of the cars to actually start a race, from lights out to actually getting to the 1st corner..

I am not sure how I feel about the sprint start.. part of me is nervous, given the almost fatal accident we had with Colopinto.. Some of the cars just super boggy, how will this affect the Sunday race? Hopefully cars are not damaged..

Yeah nervous, anxious, concerned about the poor quality of the start process and the drivers getting hurt.. How any team principle could allow the start to happen for a sprint, the only viable option is a rolling start.. At least until they can do a proper mass start..

Shanghai is one of the tracks least-affected by energy expenditure as a driver can harvest the full 9MJ over a lap. So was not surprised super-clipping was less than we saw at Melbourne since they can deploy the battery all the way to the final hairpin onto the front straight. But even if it is least-affected, it is still affected and George again is the class of the field about harvesting and deploying.

Mercedes definitely has the Secret Sauce when it comes to the software mapping on the new MGU-K System. They harvest in areas others can’t. Was an interesting PU data transmission problem to FOM the Mercedes was having on the straights in qualifying. /s 😉

I am in the UK and use Nord VPN and the F1 TV app, and it still all works fine for me on both my iPad and my Apple TV, I just click on the close option when it asks me to link the account to my Apple ID. Do you not have the option to do that?
I haven't seen that option. I'll take a closer look.

The FIA and FOM are expected to announce this weekend that the Bahrain and Saudi rounds have been cancelled. So there will be a six-week gap between China Japan and Miami, which should give the teams time to develop even more upgrades for Miami.

Aston Martin-Honda will be happy to have two less rounds to worry about. And the delay may help Williams shed more weight quicker. They need to lose 28kg, but with the cost cap they can't spend their way out of it and expected to shed weight gradually at each event, but now they will have more time to develop lighter parts for Miami.

The cases of Sake are on the way to Sakura./s

Reports circulating that Mercedes hasn’t even gone past Mode 3.5 on their PU out of a theoretical 5 Modes.

Congratulations to Kimi. Rare Mercedes glitch with George. Another good effort from Ollie in the Haas.

Let’s see if the race is any better than the Sprint Yo-Yo event. LiCos, LiCos, LiCos.

And thus you can see why Christian Horner was fired… RB will be back but it will take them a while, they have a new aero package for Japan with a trick rear wing.

And Antonlelli needs to be told it is not bumper cars…

I wonder if we will see Hamilton and LeClerc crash into each other?

You mean Japan and Miami. Japan is after China this year.

As a tifosi, I selfishly wished George had not been able to participate into Q3 as I think that would have made it possible for a Lewis win and a Leclerc podium (assuming they did not stuff the strategy, which is admittedly a big ask). But with him starting second, he will win (unless whatever gremlin that hit in Q3 strikes again) so the only real question is will it be Charles or Lewis on the third-run of the podium (with the other fourth).

And with Bahrain and Saudia Arabia cancelled, engine updates now cannot be introduced until Monaco (since the rule is six races in). I don't expect that to happen, instead they would arrive at Barcelona with the next set of updates post-Miami.

Hahahaha... Ferrari win? Only if they ban pit stops and strategists have to work from home via post office telegram service.. We have seen the best of the best Maranello has, and last week they pretty much won a free week at clown college.. As guest professors..

Ferrari’s strategy has been less than stellar for a number of years. They appear to have the car this year to be fighting for podiums. Not sure if they’ll get any wins without a Mercedes screwup, mechanical failure, etc. I just hope this year is not a repeat of the Hamilton / Rosberg era where it was simply a question of who was finishing first and who’d be second. Those were boring seasons.

Japan would have easily done a triple header in April, they have a waiting list of 3000% for tickets, they have great tracks, and the desire to host a dozen F1 events a year.. So the FIA/Liberty not having the desire to race in April says they really don't want 24 races.. Look they put on a season when there was no season available in the stupid year.. So what is the excuse now? Japan-Japan-Japan..So really I just think laziness is the reason, do nothing and get paid the fat bucks.. Why work when you can get paid for not working?
