If he got his 10th British Grand Prix win on Sunday that would be a record for any driver to win a single race. Also would mean he’s won 50% of the 20 he’s raced in.

But I expect by qualifying and the race things will be different.

It will be interesting to see if Ferrari can run those power settings during the race. Thermal issues were present in Austria, although it wont be quite that hot. I’ll be interested to see the results of the race qualifiers on Saturday.

I'm not even a Lewie fan per se but I'd like him to win this weekend.

The Race picked up on this. The cooler ambient and track temperatures at Silverstone mean Ferrari do not need to open the bodywork as much for cooling, improving aerodynamic performance and allow Ferrari to heat the tires more quickly without roasting them like they were doing in Austria.

Unexpected podium for Norris.
Max and Charles basically went backwards at the start.
But some great overtakes and re overtakes from 3rd to 6th for the first few laps.

It is but doesn’t quite look right in my mind. I still think of certain cars with their cigarette branding.

Agreed, something seems off.

i'd love to see BIG numbers on there instead of the smaller ones...

I think this race was another example just how much of an advantage Mercedes has in their energy recovery and deployment system. Their mapping is clearly a notch above.

Lewis kept in touch for the next ~10 laps, but I think he realized he was never going to catch him so he backed off to preserve the PU. He had enough of a buffer to Norris to afford to do so.

But yes, Kimi showed maturity and patience. He knew he had the better package and enough time to get past, so he did not try and force it.

He and Piastri emptied their batteries in the opening lap to gain positions. Norris managed his energy store far better than Piastri, which allowed him to stay in position while Piastri faded backwards.

Max and Charles basically went backwards at the start.

I wish they had done a replay to find out why they bottled so hard. Charles at least recovered two of his three lost spots while Max was never able to.

Indeed. It really shows which drivers have an understanding of energy deployment and which ones do not. Within five laps, it switches from energy deployment to energy management and things settle into a general rhythm.

In general, I agree, but I believe Kimi is better at it than George and can make it work better for him. Which is not a good sign for George when the two are head-to-head.

I agree with that. I went back and forth between George and Kimi’s in-car. Kimi seems to instinctively have a better understanding of what to communicate with Bono as opposed to George and Marcus with regeneration and deployment. Just a personal observation.
 
So why can't Williams get the weight down?

It appears to be a combination of the weight needing to come down in a significant portion of the chassis and the overall expense in money and time (the rule of thumb, I believe, is it costs about GBP200,000 and 1000 hours of R&D to remove a kilogram of weight). Vowels has mentioned that if the Cost Cap was not a concern, they could remove the weight faster (though that was early in the season before they realized just how many areas the car is overweight).
