I mean, that’s probably what they would do t’were they to intro a “smaller” iPhone, but my hands still ain’t getting any bigger. In fact, I’d like this 12 mini to be about an inch shorter for easier one handed operation— my ideal iPhone would be the screen of an iPhone 6, 7, etc with the rounded corners and current design, but that ain’t happening. I hope they make something that’s not so crazy large though.

I agree with you on the current Mini size (12/13) being too tall.

I felt that way the first day I used it and my feeling about it (dislike) hasn't changed.

I don't know why you say this as if it's a negative thing... The Air having a display the size of earlier Maxes with the ease of use and handling of the smaller phones in the current lineup sounds like a major win to me.

And as the owner of one (since launch day)... It definitely is.
What I am saying is the false “thinness” where one section of the phone is thinner and the other is still thick, thicker than previous generation Pro phones, all at the expense of speakers and cameras is a mistake.

I like the screen size of the Air, but thinness is a gimmick people didn’t fall for.

Keep the screen size, keep the 17 battery. Keep the 17 cameras. Keep the 17 chips.

Just make it XL and use some lighter weight materials to keep the weight down to 17 weight.

It would feel lighter just by the phenomenon that at the same weight, less dense objects of larger size feel lighter.

“Bigger, but not heavier! How did we do it? Magic”

Better than “Thin, in places. Oh, and nothing but bumpers or plastic cases and only 1 speaker and lens, because, well, it’s THIN! In places.”

I feel like if Apple made a smaller Air variant it would sell well enough to make it worth their while.
Alternately, maybe they could go full on entry-level and drop a smaller 17e variant. I forgot the 12 mini was $699 for the 64GB model, so you had to spend at least eight hundred bucks for a reasonable (for that time) amount of storage. $499 for a 256GB 5.4" 17e might be the better play than a small Air. Then again, with a small Air they could charge more and tout "lightest iPhone ever!" Then again (again), I'm in wish land and probably I'll just have to deal with a ginourmo beast in the not too distant future.
