Whenever I think I can go caseless, I get a look at an iPhone X that's sitting on a table, pristine and not used much. It's perfect caseless, effectively a museum piece. It's now my emergency phone in case my 15 Pro dies, always reminding me that it like its forebears always needed a case. No matter how tough these phones get that's a hard habit to break, Apple. Some day I'll be convinced. Not today, and definitely not on the day they release a $2500 phone as the 20th anniversary edition probably will be.

Hmm a iPhone that is all screen? Now that is a concept that I don’t really know how I feel about it. I think it would be interesting to see though. I’m not really excited about an anniversary phone considering I am just a couple of days into my iPhone 16e.

they will likely keep it but just have it at top of the screen. you don't need the island for it to work.
???? I just it ALL THE TIME for sports, timers, and other things. For the November election it was VERY HANDY as I was able to track the election without having to manually look at an app all the time.

Don't believe the rumors. Some people watch sports, use timers, and need the Dynamic Island who are not constantly trapped in an app all the time.

They should be giving us an all screen design in 2025. They have several underscreen face I.D. Patents for a few years already
Samsung has it. So why do we have to wait 3 years to get it????

Edge to edge displays might be aesthetically intriguing, but they are functionally stupid. Any reasonable protective case needs at least a little bit of a raised lip around the edge that would block a bit of the display if it went all the way to the edge. I care much more about the functional value of protecting the screen against damage than the aesthetic but functionally pointless bragging rights of having the display go right to the very edge.
That's not even my gripe with smaller bezels since I don't use a case on my phones. My gripe with them is that paired with the larger screens, my palm often touches a part of screen when I'm reaching for one of the corners. It's incredibly annoying accidentally touching something on the bottom left or right edge of the screen when reaching for something on the top of the screen.

Remove the selfie camera. Problem solved.

Of course that’ll never happen because so many people feel the world revolves around them. They have to constantly take pictures of themselves.
I don’t feel the *world* revolves around me, but when I’m in a video call with someone I assume they’d rather see my face than my feet, for functional if not aesthetic reasons. I never really take selfies (although I suppose I do take the occasional “us-ie” with other people), but the front camera is (mostly) there for FaceTime.

Why? The iPhone feel like sh*t in the hand...I hate feeling of a metal and glass squared off phone.

Secondly, if your an active person (I am), the phone would be broken daily. I throw them in bags, use them them with wet hands over tile/concrete at work (hospital), they fall out of my scrubs pocket, I use them outside in the shop, in the garden, when trail running, in my backpack when climbing, etc.

Easy and cheap? I have spend an our back and forth to the Apple Store, then waiting on the device, and pay for a replacement... absolutely not.

Unless it's cheaper than a $15 case, no thank you.

Durability > aesthetics.
The iPhone feels much better in the hand than any phone in a case ever will. Also, I’m very active and I toss my phone around all the time. They are durable AF.

To each their own. I prefer a case as I don't like the squared-off sides, nor the feeling of metal and glass. A grippy rubber is much better, to me, in the hand.

Coworker's 16 pro max slipped off her desk onto the laminated floor and shattered the back. My SIL cracked a camera lens on her standard 16 while at work (high school teacher). 🤷🏻‍♂️
