Pretty sure that's what it means. At least for this first version.I hope this doesn't mean that the smaller iMac will get the M1 and only the larger one will get the faster Pro chip
Unless what they plan on offering is a lot better in a few months comparably. There's seriously no reason for them to delay an M1 iMac any longer. DO IT.
You made a lot of really good points on the video. Hopefully we will get larger iMacs too.Come to Papa!
Let's see if I was right..
It would make sense for them to do this. Apple currently offers a low-end model iMac (slim iMac aka 1080p iMac) that uses the same processor as the 13-inch MacBook Pro. So it would make sense for the 1080p slim iMac to be updated with the M1 processor to match the new M1 13-inch MacBook Pro. The more expensive 4K and 5K iMacs, though, both use desktop-class processors.I *hope* they will offer a low-end iMac with the M1. However, I think it's *extremely* unlikely that it'll be the best or only CPU they offer in the smaller model.
Would be funny if the reason for the delay was because European stocks were stuck on a boat in Egypt. How many of those go through the Suez Canal, I wonder.
The Intel CPU for the 1080p model is still being produced (although the Coffee Lake CPUs in the upper SKUs of the 21.5" and the Mac mini are to be discontinued his year). Apple could easily still offer exactly the same model for a few more months as an entry level upset until the end of the transition period. Slash an extra $100 off perhaps, and it places the 24" nicely in the region of the top 2 21.5" SKUs price wise.It would make sense for them to do this. I would sell my kids for a 24inch matte black iMac.
I mean I don't have any kids, but I could abduct some and then sell them to one of those Eastern European guys from 'Taken.'
There’s been rumbling of an “iMac Air” branding. I wouldn’t be surprised if the iMac lineup mirrors the iPad lineup with one Air model and two Pro models. So on Tuesday we see the M1 24” iMac Air and later in the year we see the 24” / 30” (32”) iMac Pro models with M1X (M2)Any new 24” iMac coming out is probably delayed until June. I suspect they wanted to intro it on Tuesday, but cannot get enough components in stock in time. I still think it will have an M1 throughout the range, but I’m happy to be proven wrong. It will start at $1299, no more $1099 model.
Well damn. That explains the rumored colors that will supposedly match those of the new iPad Air.There’s been rumbling of an “iMac Air” branding. You’ve picked it for sure. My only question is if we’ll see the M1 put into the iMac out of they’ll go bigger M1x styles. If we get the new chip then is the Mac mini also on the cards? Notebooks too? Clear the deck before WWDC?Come to Papa!

If the iMac we see on Tuesday has the M1, then no.Long shot but hoping it supports 32GB of RAM
Why? What software are you running that needs 32GB of RAM? Genuinely asking as the M1 is very efficient with 8GB and 16GB.Long shot but hoping it supports 32GB of RAM
Why do you want to switch to Desktop?I can't wait for the new M1 iMacs. My MacBook Pro is 7 years old and I'm ready to upgrade.
Once you actually have a child of your own, the last thing you would ever do is sell it for a throw away in a few years Apple consumer product
I think this has to be one of my all time favourite macrumors comments. Why? What software are you running that needs 32GB of RAM? Genuinely asking as the M1 is very efficient with 8GB and 16GB.
