They're not going to kill Jack. He's signed on for at least 2 more seasons after this one, and there are rumors about 24: The Movie.

just watched the trailer. looks sweet!

i have watched the first 5 seasons (after not watching any of it) in order in the last 3 months or so, so i've never seen the show on the big tv, live... i'm looking forward to enjoying it, along with prison break and heroes... come next month.

He is signed by Fox for 2 more years but that means he is under contract for that period not that they can't kill him off before that time ends. They can kill him off at any time if they want too, its not a guarantee.

Plus, it could be intentional mis-direction to cause us all to say "well they can't kill off Jack..." ;)

No, it's not a gaurantee, but HIGHLY doubtful that he will be killed off this season.

Okay, I'm new here, but I'm a big 24 fan. So,,

I can't imagine them killing off the main character. Given the popularity of this show worldwide, I suspect some fans would go totally nuts if they did.

Kiefer has openly mused that killing Jack Bauer would be a cool end of the series. There are a bunch of reasons for him to keep going, like the best role he's ever had, seriously big paydays, etc. On the other hand, production supposedly ties him for about nine months every year, so eventually he might get tired of that.

The odds are that the show will fall off in quality before it dies. Although Day 5 was really entertaining, it was easily the least plausible season so far.

This show really can't go on much longer as its really hard to film and the fact that it will get old as there is not much more they can do plot wise. I would say that the 24 movie would be the final chapter.

Consider the fact that they started filming in August and they are only through episode 12 with 9 of those ready for air. Then consider that the first 4 episodes will air within the first 2 nights so that means that they are only like 7 episodes ahead of air.

That's a typical production schedule for them though. Because they use many locations and multiple cameras, it takes longer to edit than most hour-long dramas.

And repetitiveness and production complexity have not prevented some other shows from staying on too long.

But that also means more burnout for the crew so I don't see this show going on for another 5 years.

This show is unique in that they are filming hour by hour so that ads to the difficulty that other shows don't have.

Maybe that's why most of the main characters, and almost all supporting characters usually die each season. One thing i did not like about season 5 was that if a minor character entered the plot, he/she was a gonner within an hour or two. I wished they gave the supporting characters more time to grow so when they did die, i was more surprised disappointed.

A lot of that is contract problems and having to pay them more.

I'm so excited for season 6 but I will be on vacation for the 4 hour 2 night premiere. It will be tempting to check this thread because I'm sure it will be active but I will refrain!

I already read a few spoilers sadly (I can't help it!) and well they make the plot intriguing but also a little bit soap opera-y (then again season 1 had this and it didn't make it bad really). So get excited!

The only thing that would make the premiere better is if a Bears win leads into it.

yea no kidding.

i never watched 24 until about halfway through day 4, i have since gotten the dvd's for xmas, and have watched day 1,2,3 and part of 4 so im almost caught up. its going to really suck watching day 6 at one hour a week for the next few months, its nice to see the dvd's back to back to back.

like I said on MR last year,

This Season, I predict jack will stop the terrorists and save the day.....

I was right last year, my guess is that i'll be right this year too;)

stupid first 4 eps have already been leaked to the shadynet. i'm waiting for the regular air dates though of course...

The first four episodes of season six are fantastic.

Early on, it looks like it's going to be a solid season.

Very tempted to cheat here. How's the...errr...quality?

NO! I must resist!

I mean, is is good quality or does it look like someone recorded a TV screen with a camcorder.

I am so weak.

First, It's not cheating.

Secondly, Fox is apparently releasing the first four episodes plus a 12 minute preview of episode five on January 16 on DVD. These are all DVD-rips, so quality is fantastic.

Yes, the preview is great. Explains a bit of the gap since Jack was abducted. As for Fox releasing it, I doubt it since that is ad revenue that they would want.
