Nice seeing an iMac in there...but whats up with the completely fictional IP address? :p

It's the internet-era equivalent of a "555" phone number. Though they could have had it point to some "secret bonus" site, like how there was a cell phone number last year that would let you talk with someone on the production crew (so I've heard).

Didja notice it was a rev A or B iMac, with the disc slot near the top of the side, rather than the middle?

edit: oh, I'm a dork--if it was rev C or intel-based, there would also be an iSight in the middle of the front. :p

big intro to season 5...palmer dead, michelle dead, tony injured, and jack back into counterterrorist/cop/spy/fugitive action...and it seemed like he was going to have a quiet, happy life again

i was hoping he was going to take on the salazar clan again in mexico...but that may yet happen as one inside source (co-creator) said mexico may be the bulk of season 5's set...but only time will tell

I'm very excited for this, but I just turned on Fox, and there is still 12 minutes left in the stupid american football game. This just reaffirms my hatred for american football.

Doesn't look like 24 will start on time, unless Fox has one brain cell left, and stops covering the stupid football game.

There's a reason for this... and it's not just fox... its all major broadcasters with all sports events. I dont remember all of the details, but this is why. A tv network was showing a game and there was about a minute left in the game (or very little time). Team A had the ball and was up by X amount of points. So everyone thought that the game was over. So they cut the broadcast and went on with their schedule. Well something happened that team B got the ball and scored within that time. So everyone was pissed that they missed the end of the game. So I believe that now it is in the broadcast licensing agreements/contracts (between the league and the networks) that the network cannot cut the sporting event short due to other programs.

As much as it sucks that 24 was delayed, I can understand the logic behind it. (but it messed up my DVR and I had to manually extend the recording... a minor inconvenience)

And with regards to the new season... I'm glad it is here!!! I cant wait for what happens next, and my wife is already driving me crazy with the "what's gonna happen next"... like I know...

Fox HD was having issues for me yesterday :( the audio kept disappearing randomly every so often, was more of an annoyance than anything. I need to call Comcast and make sure it isnt something with my wiring or hardware.

As for the show, it left me wanting to see more as always :)

These episodes were great. :) Oh, I've missed you so much 24... :)

More tonight?

Man, that sucks about that station clipping off the last ten minutes... I think I would go ballistic if that ever happened!

I was taping it and watching it after the fact... but it was hard to stay away. A bit after I knew 24 had started I turned on Fox, rationalizing that I probably wouldn't see anything, I just wanted to see a second or two. I turned it on to Wayne Palmer saying "there's going to be a lot of questions about Sherry," and bam, Palmer shot through the window. I guess that's what I get for sneaking a peek.

Can't wait to find out what happens tonight... I am curious to find out what exactly the guys in the airport want. It has to have something to do with the treaty, but it's got to be much much more.

About spoilers - I don't know how the email notifications work, but I think that if you venture into this thread on show night after it's started on the East Coast, you should expect spoilers. That's the general consensus on the Lost thread - if it's a show night, there's spoilers, so stay away - and works fine.

I can't wait for tonight's episode. Anyone have any ideas why they're trying to set Jack up? Who do you think is behind it all?

I also loved the iMac. Could you actually take an encrypted document from a computer with only knowing the IP like Chole did? I love the show, but I'm under the impression that all the computer stuff is fairly fictional.

I think someone just wants revenge on Jack for a grudge from long ago.

There's also that professional terrorist chick they gave a pardon to at the end of Season 4.

by reposting my post, doesn't it give away what i wrote to everyone? I'm sorry i ruined it for you... but don't ruin it for everyone else.

.. but they've already seen it in the email from your post. Either way, post, wait, edit, write in spoiler.

Can a mod change the title (a la Lost thread) to indicate spoilers? I have added something to the first post..

Couple of issues.

1: Does noone else find it somewhat surprising that within 5 minutes of Palmer being shot that it is already on the news as he had been assasinated?? I would think news like that would be verifed before it hit the majors.

2: 7AM to 8AM in LA. Unless it is the weekend you can barely get across the street within 1/2 hour but Jacks new woman can get all the way to Ontario airport within an hour?

3: 8:03 AM Jack is at the refinery north of LA. At 8:16 he arrives at Wayne Palmers apt(Presumably downtown area)?? Once again LA rush hour traffic??

4: 8:37 Jack leaves Palmers apt and arrives at Ontario airport at 8:54? 17 minutes? Where is Palmers apt??

It just strikes me as the timing on this show is getting more and more out there. Still a good show, I just think they are stretching the timeline

News is a race ... and for all we know the terrorists were making sure it splashed as fast as possible. You want evedrybody to watch your channel right ... so you have to push a story as fast as possible.

The real question I have is: Why would president palmer call the first lady in the middle of the night ... to ask her to a charity dinner she didn't seem to question that at all ... thats what really bothered me not the timing ... she might be sick but come on

In a show like 24, where they claim to be "real time" you have to make a few allowances for things that happen a little too quickly... such as people always get to CTU rather quickly. (Like the guy in Chloe's bed.. sure she kicked him out but he was there pretty fast.)

And Palmer didn't call her in the middle of the night (she said it was during the news, between 10 and 11pm) to invite her to a charity dinner.. That Walt guy edited the phone convo to make it seem like that. He really did have to warn her about something, but Walt is sketchy, so he didn't want everyone to know that. He admitted it at the end, when he was talking to the mystery guy on the phone.

Another question - what *is* Walt's status in the administration? High-up advisor? Chief of Staff? And what is Mike Novack's position... that hasn't been made clear yet (unless I missed it.) Eeep, the ep is starting!

I love when they "widen the parameters" on every search!

Possible spoiler question below in white...

Would any news agency actually broadcast a terroist execution live? That's a little unbelievable.

They might be showing the live footage, and not know what is about to happen.. it isn't like the first time there was a ton of "hey, this is what we're about to do" type dialogue. I find it believable that they'd be showing the terrorists tell their demands, but after that? Not sure.

Anybody else wonder why the new season started quite a bit different from the 10-minute preview? Jack didn't even have his mullet anymore.

you see, there are two reasons for that

1) most of la is at the playoff games out of town, so there is very little traffic

2) the characters of 24 all tend to live near ctu, or have hideouts there since nobody seems to like san diego or northern california for some reason

The preview was 12 months after season 4, this is 18 month afterwards. So in those 6 months Jack went back to California, got a job, a new girl, and a haircut. I for one am glad the mullet got chopped.

president logan reminds me of jimmy carter sort of ... I don't want this to become a political discussion at all but anyone else see the parallels.

I think Logan's wife has more brains then him.
