Loving the new season so far. Must remember it's a TV show! For example, I was bugged that Jack was suddenly in Ontario in a matter of minutes from LA. There must be a special Jack Bauer express lane, because you'd be hardpressed to reach Ontario in an hour on a GOOD day. Also, Ontario isn't in LA, as they seemed to mention. The scenes with the police and fire in front of the airport said LA...wouldn't be true in real life as Ontario is in San Bernardino County and has its own police and fire departments. Product placement...I'm used to it. One way or another, there are hints to products everywhere. Even the famous 24 phone ring, not 24 really, it's a default ring on Cisco VoIP phones. As for a tv show that doesn't hide Apple logos or use, check out MI-5, or Spooks (a UK show; they don't hide the Apple at all).

Yeah, Logan pisses me off too. But it's clear he's not intended to be Carter. Logan is more concerned with his personal image. He delegates EVERYTHING. He doesn't listen, he's insulated from what's going on, and he seems pretty oblivious to the reality of the situation he's in. Seems clear to me who he's supposed to be.

I was thinking in the last episode, that Logan looks a lot like Nixon. Even when he waves going on stage.

Anyone else notice how when they were going over Palmer's accomplishments on the TV that they were very careful not to name political parties? They were referred to as "his party" and the "opposition party" never given the actual names.

Yay, I'm not the only one. I'm too young to have been around for Nixon's presidency, but I've seen plenty of pics/videos, and I always think of Logan as looking a lot like Nixon.

I want to re-watch the last scene where the first lady was watching the news.. I was watching with the closed captioning on, and the text was wildly different than the speech.

Edit: Thinking back, season one took place on the day of the "California Presidential Primary," not Democratic/Republican primary. I suppose they don't want to tie in any real-world political dramas, but is there anyone who thinks that Palmer was a Republican?

Not to get political, but is anyone else annoyed by the fact that everyone in that show watches Fox News? I mean, I know it's broadcast on Fox, but seriously, would anyone that high up in the government watch Fox News? Let's keep a little believability here.

:p

Actually, I've been around a few command center and if they have multiple TV tuners available they'll often have several news channels on, but if there's just one tuner, it's likely to be tuned to Fox News. :p Not my preference, but to each their own.

Well, would you rather them watch "CNB"? :D

My mom and I do not like Logan, I think he's an ******, stubborn, and only sees the truth after the worst happens.

And to the post about them replacing the Macs, they use Dell and HP machines with HP monitors. I notice computers way too much! :p

No, I'm pretty sure that Sherry Palmer and/or someone else said a few times during that first season that he was about to become the Democratic candidate for president. I could be wrong, but I'm reasonably confident of that. I didn't watch the first two seasons on TV but caught up on the first sometime between the third and fourth.

At least he's consistent in character--that was him all the way last year. I guess there hasn't been time for an election yet. Not that being stubborn and blind to the truth would get you booted from office. ;) (I kid, I kid--as so many before me have said, "not to get political...")

:) Ditto. I thought I read somewhere that in the first season, it was almost like "the bad guys use wintels, the good guys use Macs".

It's true. And has anybody else ever noticed that all the good guys use Sprint phones and all the bad guys use Nextel? (Major Geek Moment):D

Yeah, but in the intro to the show always left out the democrat part. I miss the additional info for the intro; I remember in season two I would always add "The following takes place between ___ and ___ of the California Nuclear Bomb." Then again, I'm a dork.

TV Guide loves 24.

They basically put a whole page towards the shock of Michelle and Palmer's death, and they gave a cheer to the actress who plays Martha Logan.

Just wanted to let you know, the reason the "24" writers killed them was that "they ran out of story for them." And they also say to expect 1 or 2 more major deaths.

Plus TV Guide Loves Battlestar Galactica, but that's a whole different story.:D

i guess using verizon wireless with all those thousands of telecommunications workers trailing you would make it hard to get things done in a 24 hour, 24 episode tv show

I think the real questiions is if Jack will get work on the Oil Rig tomorrow ....

i think that could be a great ending for 24 this season...jack gets captured a few times, kills a lot of bad guys, and saves la more than once, like usual and goes back to the oil rig and his new woman and her 15 year old son

i could see it now: he he,

oil rig boss: so how was your day off yesterday?

jack bauer: not bad, not much happened and i got a lot of rest

oil rig boss: good, i have some work for you today

jack bauer: thanks, i can use the money

That would be a great ending. I hope that happens. Oh and to post an update to my "TV Guide" post, there is also a rumor that a 24 movie might be in the process. How would that work? Would we have to sit in the theater for 24 hours? Or will they make it show at 12x speed so 24 hours will be 2 hours?:D

I can't really see that working out. Of course they couldn't show it at 12x speed so I guess the only other option would be to call it 2. :D :D :D

<movie preview voice>"From the producers of 24--Jack Bauer faces his smallest problem ever! Don't miss 2 this summer!"</voice>

Didn't they already do that?

Or the less action packed version here.

I don't know where I read it, but I recall reading someone (I thought it was a writer/producer, but possibly not) saying that Jack Bauer would be around for another season (or more), then 24 would continue without him. From what I recall, the premise of the 24 movie would be to continue/end Jack Bauer's part of the story, while the television show would have a new man to take over Jack's role.

I found an article with some of the writers. Most of it is the same as other articles, but one interesting thing is that they thought about changing the second season so that each hour was a full day, even wrote scripts for it. That would have been an odd change, and I don't think I would have liked it much.

I think I would prefer it this way. It would be much more feasible to have a season take place over 24 days rather than 24 hours. If you watch the first episode from any season then the last, it's impossible to believe it's the same day. People can be hit by cars, tortured, shot and then by the end of the season their almost fine .

I agree it makes sense from that standpoint, but I was thinking about the individual episodes. It seems to me that sometimes things would happen so quickly that one hour wouldn't be enough to fully express a full day in detail. But I enjoy the scenes where they're showing all the "mundane" details. Ah well, they didn't do that after all so who cares! :)

Then again, the workforce would be allowed to have a full night's sleep every night. :)
