Couple of issues.

1: Does noone else find it somewhat surprising that within 5 minutes of Palmer being shot that it is already on the news as he had been assasinated?? I would think news like that would be verifed before it hit the majors.

Did you see the news coverage when the man was shot running from the Miami flight about a month ago? I didn't see it myself but the Daily Show covered it. There was an unending amount of "we don't know what's happening yet" and "it might be the it might be that" and "i wouldn't want to speculate but..." They don't wait to confirm a damn thing anymore.

2: 7AM to 8AM in LA. Unless it is the weekend you can barely get across the street within 1/2 hour but Jacks new woman can get all the way to Ontario airport within an hour?

<snip>

4: 8:37 Jack leaves Palmers apt and arrives at Ontario airport at 8:54? 17 minutes? Where is Palmers apt??

It just strikes me as the timing on this show is getting more and more out there. Still a good show, I just think they are stretching the timeline

That's the way it's been pretty much every season. During season 3 or 4 there was one time when Chloe got called in, and within 5 minutes she was there. We joked at work that she must live in a studio apartment above CTU, and just takes a firepole downstairs. We also figure that CTU agents have secret tunnels under the city. It can be annoying if you think about it too much, but it keeps the show moving.

I was out of town and forget to set up the VCR to record for last night. Anyone have a way to see the episode?

It's probably available on whatever p2p networks are still operating. That may not be legal but sometimes you gotta do... It was my only recourse two years ago when I didn't put in a tape to record one episode. I wonder if the iTunes store will be selling eps of 24. I guess they'd have to work out a deal for Fox content first.

If they put it up on iTunes that would be awesome!

Any legal places to just watch a missed episode, I don't even want to dl it, just see it, really soon.

I love 24. It sucks that they killed Palmer, Michelle, and injured Tony in the first 10 minutes. From the commericals it looked like it was Jack and Chloe in the explosion. I liked Palmer because he seemed like such a great leader for the country, and Michelle, well, she was awesome. It's a good thing I finally made my PC a TiVo, I had to go to a thing at my school that honored 8th graders, missed the first 40 minutes and now I'm watching it. Once again, I love TiVo-rip offs!:D

Yeah, I really want to pay for something of inferior quality. Download a copy from BT, it's not illegal. It's in a gray area of the law.

Evil Advertising

I love 24, and the new season is pretty entertaining so far. But the absolutely horrible product placement is a serious negative. It's so bad it's detracting from the entertainment value for me.

I mean, come on. The "Avaya" label on the top of the telephone handset in the airport terminal? No one puts a label on the top of a telephone earpiece! When would it ever be visible? And Jack's Sprint cellphone. The labels on the
NEC monitors seem out of place. Not that they're there, but the fact that they've been relocated so that they're more visible than they ordinarily would be. Notice that all of the vehicles are Fords? What are the odds in a real world situation? (No doubt it's a holdover from the "commercial free" episodes Ford sponsored last season.)

Anyway, enough ranting. I just found it very noticeable and very annoying. Isn't it enough that we already have commercials every 8 minutes in the show?

To be honest, I didn't even notice any of those examples. I'm not surprised though. Last season there was a huge "ad" (i.e. product placement) for Cisco somethingorother.

I didn't hear you complaining about the Macs we've seen so far. (Have there been more than just Palmer's iMac? Other seasons there have been several Macs.) Of course I'm not sure if those are paid inclusions.

I didn't find any ads well Im not looking as the action gets in the way.:p As for the iMac Im sure most people just assumed its a normal computer so not really product placement.

I did notice Palmer's iMac. Having a computer in the scene made sense, but I don't remember the Apple logo being prominently displayed. The iMac is just distinctive, so we all knew what it was immediately. I'm not sure if Joe Sixpack would.

I didn't notice any Macs in CTU. I guess the implication is that Macs aren't for "real" work. (no, I don't believe that)

Other shows that have Macs prominently featured usually cover up the logo somehow. "Surface" has an iMac that always seems to have a yellow sticky over the logo. And "Veronica Mars" somehow always manages to have an object in front of the glowing Apple logo of her Powerbook.

I guess the question is, is it product placement if the item is used but the logo or corporate identity of the manufacturer is hidden?

If the logo is hidden that means they don't have rights to legally promote the products or have an advertising deal with another company.

This is good ****. :) Logan, you prick.. And we all knew whats his face bad guy in the presidents area was gonna take out the president's wife at the end. Are the capsules they were handling nuclear?

Also, quit the spoilers in white. Just post them in normal font, anyone dumb enough to look at the thread, not expecting spoilers, after an ep has finished, deserves what he/she finds. :p I wait until I have watching to comment, I simply stay away until then. Anyone else can too.

They said it was nerve gas in the preview for next weeks, and it had a biohazard symbol on the canister.

I was let down by episode 4's ending because they showed it in the previews so I knew it was coming and it didn't have the same affect knowing that Cummings is a bad guy.

president logan reminds me of jimmy carter sort of ... I don't want this to become a political discussion at all but anyone else see the parallels.

Logan just pisses me off... he's such an ******.

Actually, when Sean Astin appeared, my wife thought of Rudy, but I thought of Lord of the Rings. (I'd forgotten about 50 First Dates... he was funny with the lisp).

I thought that at least in Season 1 and 2 (and maybe 3) CTU used Macs, but dropped them in favor of Dell(?) Workstations. I notice the Macs. I point them out. It pisses my wife off. There is a lot of product placement in EVERY show. It supplements the advertising. I just rarely focus on the products (except the Macs) and focus on the show.

I don't see the preview's so :)

Yeah, Logan pisses me off too. But it's clear he's not intended to be Carter. Logan is more concerned with his personal image. He delegates EVERYTHING. He doesn't listen, he's insulated from what's going on, and he seems pretty oblivious to the reality of the situation he's in. Seems clear to me who he's supposed to be.

I wouldn't say I'm focused on the products, but it really seems overdone. The Avaya one was the most annoying, because it was so out of place. It shouldn't have been there, so it stood out the most.

More than Sean Astin, I was wondering what happened to Badger's (Mr. Yellow Tie) Australian accent. :)

The guest list for upcoming episodes is sometimes fun to poke through...

http://imdb.com/title/tt0285331/guests

It does get updated as you get closer to a showing so don't think they are finalized yet.

Rot13/white spoiler? Ohg lbh pna frr gung Xvz jvyy or onpx ba Sro 5gu.

Come to think of it... maybe people could start using rot13 on their spoilers? Until you start memorizing that Wnpx is Jack. :p http://www.rot13.com
