I really enjoyed last season, it was must superior then season 6. This one though has some faults, that I hope will resolve soon. Hastings is meant to bother us. His over confidence and his stature only reek of cockines. I hope he is a mole so we can see Renee torture him.

The whole Jenny subplot makes me ant to fast forward the DVR, it is honestly uninteresting, uninspired and just dull.

Other then that, it is a fine start. Their is only so many things you can do on 24 to create an interesting story. Hopefully this is as good as last season.

I agree with the Jenny subplot, i think its annoying, the only way it will work, is if that guy is working with the Russians and want her to help them.

If not I dont see the point of even having that. She could easily just make him disappear if she wanted to.

Here is my "current" theory:

Hasan is being assassinated for singing the peace deal (I know thats obvious but humor me). He is being killed in the US because it will prove that the Americans cannot be trusted and that he was naive and manipulated by the West. His brother is a part of the conspiracy because he does not want to give up their country's Nuclear ambition. The guy who blew up the chopper and shot the wife was hired by the brother to carry it out. The brother used the reporter to divert the authorities attention from the real threat. Hasan's wife is bitter and knows that he cheated on her and just wants him dead.

CTU is no longer a separate entity of the government. It run by politics and is strictly monitored. The boss is just a politician and wants things done his way and is just a prick. Something will blow up in his face and he will have to adjust his tone with Chole.

While I know everyone hates Kim (me included) I understand her logic. She rather have her father alive and at peace with himself than guilty about not helping and unable to live with himself.

Good job Sherlock Holmes! :p

At the end with Renee, wow! I did not see that coming! My theory:

I think the White House Chief of Staff Rob is another mole... And I think Renee is crazy... really crazy... but I bet she had a reason to do the thing she did at the end of the last episode. I love 24!

Also, why do they have to have the negotiations in the UN? Why not just have them in CTU so the President can be safe, and get him to sign the agreement there and then fly him out?

I think that so far season 8 has gone very well! 24 does have a tendency to have too much going on at once sometimes. However, it always ends up connecting and blowing your mind. I would stay tuned and enjoy it because the writers for this show are amazing.

the end of the last episode with renee going whacko was very disturbing with the buzzsaw hitting skin and all that, i had to turn away. nightmare fuel indeed. usually, those kinds of events are saved for later in the season, so it could be that the show could be shark jumping.

It's an interesting twist that was set up in the last season with Renee becoming more like Jack in the "do whatever it takes regardless of the rules" mindset. It's almost like history is repeating itself. Jack became darker after the loss of his wife in season one. Renee is becoming darker after the loss of her partner in last season. I think her character in this season is going to preserve Jack in a way. He doesn't have to be the "bad guy" who breaks all the rules because she will fill that role this time around. It sort of allows for the possibility of a happy ending as he gets the opportunity to see in her what he has been like for so many years and ultimately walk a way from it all to be there for his family. Although, keep in mind, we are talking about 24 here and I'm just speculating on possibilities. With this show it's just as likely that his grandaughter could be blown up or killed. My wife always says "24 isn't afriad to kill anyone! No character is off limits."

Hastings is meant to bother us. His over confidence and his stature only reek of cockines. I hope he is a mole so we can see Renee torture him.

I told my wife while watching last night that I wish Jack would look at him and say, "I know your type, in fact, I used to have a boss just like you. I shot him in the head because terrorists told me to." :D

So they're prepping for Renee to take over from jack after he moves to LA and retires for good.

Sheesh b*t*es be crazy!

I haven't watched much 24, but I decided to watch a little this season, and already I'm hoping Chloe gets killed off. That actress is horrible. Can someone tell me why she's lasted as long as she has? What am I missing?

You need to watch the previous seasons with her, its definitely much better than this season with her. For some reason I'm not feeling this season, and maybe chloe is one of the reasons? I'm not really sure, but to me it feels like her quirkiness isn't as funny as the previous season. Also to me it feels like 24 is getting really predictable, but maybe I've just watched too much of it and I haven't realized it. I will still be watching this season and I hope it's a good one.

@mscriv-
You are right on the money.
I think that is the reason that Jack went with her. He sees himself in her; that is the Jack Bauer of 15 years ago(15 years in the show's years). He knows what one can lose and in some kind of sick way, if he can prevent someone from losing everything like he did, he will do whatever it takes so that no one will have to deal with everything he has lost. It is his own twisted sense of morality. Having said that, with the exception of Chase in S3 and the time he cut open a dead guy to get a chip of some kind, I cannot remember Jack

@dmr727

That is her character; she is supposed to be awkward and difficult. But that is what people love about her; her quirks are what make her interesting. I personally think she is more outspoken and more blunt than previous years.

@DISCOMUNICATION-
can you tell us more? I vaguely remember it but could you elaborate

I thought they actually shot in New York. Why does the city look so fake? I Guess they couldn't find a good sunset so the made a CG one.

They still film the show in the Los Angeles area. For some reason the production team prefers to shoot in that area and fake it. This was the case even in last season's DC story. They just piece in clips of the city that were shot in their respective cities without the actors to aid the illusion.

I think the new CTU looks like nice, but am I the only one that's perplexed by the building's valet-like entrance. They just park the car by the glass doors and leave it there, and appears only way to get out is to reverse. I don't know maybe buildings are like this in NY, just thought it was strange for the set designers to design it as such. I know there are more important concerns about the show but i'd thought i'd just share. :eek:

Let just hope they don't over do the Renee character this year. She is already off her hinge.

No one is going to mention the tablet Jack used in the car on last night's show? :D

Is it just me?

So I would like to have everyone take a poll:

How many of you think this show has become anti-feminist? Every woman in the show is either weak(the president), stupid(Dana) or just nuts(Rene)? I feel that they have made nearly every female character in the show unpleasant or just not interesting. It has been a recurring theme in recent years(the first daughter and her brother's girlfriend last year is a perfect example) and at first I thought it was just how they thought a Liberal government would be but it has gotten to the point that it is almost an actual viewpoint.

(Note- I am excluding Chloe because she has always been a tough chick and is always fun)

What do others think? Has this show become anti-women?

With regards to last night overall-I am starting to have questions about the Chief of Staff-there is just something about his demeanor about the whole peace accords

It's not that she's a horrible actress it's how here character is supposed to be and is perceived. An uptight, by the book, knowledgeable character.

(Note to self, do not anger or piss off Rene Walker, especially when she has a weapon of some kind)

I have to agree; this is starting to get interesting. But I think I have found one piece that has not been revealed:

For those who don't know, gregory itzin (aka Preisdent Logan) is supposed to come back into the story. I believe that whenever or however Jack gets out, he will become so desperate, so backed into a corner that he must go to the one person he despises as much as Nina. Jack will think Logan will know something, or at least know someone who will know something.

Second:
Dana's character is just getting old and boring. I just have to wonder how her ex will be able to prove that she facilitated the crime and is as guilty as them.

I have to brag about one thing. When watching with my parents(who love the show as much as I do) I mentioned that I wondered how much longer Vladamir would be in the story. Roughly 10 minutes later Rene got her knife...

Overall, I think they are starting to weave a story that is at least starting to get interesting.
