got home after being gone for work. was hoping to find a nice package on my doorstep. instead i find an email from ATT saying the phone was backordered. although an hour later i got another email with a tracking number. scheduled to be delivered via DHL tomorrow.

So i ordered mine on Tuesday night, at aruond 9 PM
i first got the backorder, and then the conformation.
weird thing is, today, i checked my bank account, since i used a debit card, my transaction got taken away..??
(Previously billed for)
my track results still show it went from Fortworth TX -> Wilmington OH -> my house (estimated 3/24/08)
If it does come tomorrow, than free iphone for me.. but
if it doesn't i can already see myself calling up at&t and trouble up a storm until i do get an iphone..

My debit card has not been charged yet either, the only thing that I can think is that they will charge after delivery confirmation. As long as I get my phone tomorrow I don't care when they charge my card. 🙂
They were gone a day or two after the link was posted. I'm sure they will have more in the future so keep checking the website or the forum.
I ordered 2 refurbs the minute i heard about em on MacRumors. Both were "backordered" for a few hours, and then came the e-mail with the tracking number. My accounts have been charged and both phones are scheduled for tomorrow (3/24) delivery - one by DHL, one by UPS.
Anyway, in my delivery confirmation it stated I had two items (per order).
1. iphone 2. iphone accessory. I called ATT and asked and supposedly they are sending a free case with each order?

It's kinda crappy that AT&T is making people go through that when Apple obviously doesn't. I guess that's why people trust Apple more than any telecom company.
Mine will arrive tomorrow. I hope it comes in early so I can get it all set up and see if I need to hit The Apple Store before work.

it could have meant that i wasn't getting one, or, it still could mean that, but i didn't ever get an email saying that so.. i guess the only way to find out, is to wait 😡
As long as your friend has a credit card with an American bank and a US shipping address there would be no questions. If he finds an AT&T store which has them he could conceivably just pay cash and tell them a even a bogus address, although cash may raise questions around here.
Sorry to sound like a noob, but I have a couple of questions about AT&T, and I trust you guys more than the fools at my AT&T store.

I bought a refurb iPhone from AT&T.com, which should be here tomorrow (yay!). DH is an existing AT&T customer, I am not; however, we are going to get a family plan. He is up for a new contract / phone, but has no desire to get an iPhone (and, no, he won't change his mind once he plays with mine - hey, nobody's perfect 😉)
So, my questions are:
1) If we upgrade his phone, keeping his individual plan, will I be presented with options to change to a family plan when I activate my iPhone?
2) Is there going to be a problem with using my Apple ID and his AT&T account info?

ok so as I am reading thru the forum a couple of you have had to fax over proof of purchase on the AT&T Refurb buy - where are you faxing and are you getting immediate attention from Apple. Is there a number I can call?
So far my refurb is in perfect condition but hey you never know and can I purchase the Apple extended plan if needed with a refurb?

Saw the DHL guy walking up to the front door (my dogs alerted me). As I was walking to open the door I saw him literally throw the package at the door!
I could not believe it! I had only seen that sort of package handling on TV sitcoms. Completely unacceptable.
I can tell you from seeing that sort of service, I will NEVER use DHL to ship anything.
On a more positive note, My ATT Refurb iPhone is AWESOME! No flaws at all!
I just went to check the Apple Warranty on it, and the darn thing has never even ever been activated! Came with 1.1.1, week 30.
I upgraded to 1.1.4 and Unlocked/Activated with ZiPhone.

I would have opened the door and said, "Thanks for the delivery, although you missed the door. Try aiming a little higher next time you throw a package."
Then I would have followed him outside and gotten the number on his vehicle just to scare him a little bit.

Lol, I should have. I did walk outside and give him a dirty look. I think he was surprised to see someone home in the middle of the day (I am a college student).
On a side note, I was also supposed to receive a replacement mighty mouse today. (It was on that same DHL delivery truck). That idiot must have forgot to deliver it.
I checked the tracking for the mouse a few minutes ago and it says:
"Address information needed; contact DHL Customer Service. "
I called DHL and all my info was 100% correct.
Then I am requested by the phone rep to give detailed directions to my house from Tampa.. What the heck!
I told her the DHL guy just delivered something to my house. WHY DO YOU NEED DIRECTIONS!
She wanted them anyway, so I just gave them to her...
I would expect service like that from some cheap appliance delivery service... But not a big company like DHL!
I will make it a priority of mine to convince friends, family and co-workers of mine NOT to use DHL!!!

Just got mine and its in mint condition. Edge is not slow where I live 200 Kbps and loads youtube in about 5 secs. This thing rocks hope my pops doesn't mind that I signed him up for another two years with AT&T. Its so worth it!

just received mine. def NOT mint condition. not acceptable, not even a little. first of all i was disappointed to see that its not in its original packaging, and then i open it to find MULTIPLE scratches and a DENT on the back! i'm going to try to take it to the apple store today - hopefully i dont have to end up sending it back in.

I am worried that my iPhone is going to come scratched and/or messed up.
How many of you have had problems with your phones?
When I bought the phone I was under the impression that it was treated similar to an Apple refurb, but apparently I was wrong. My iPhone should get delivered anytime now (yea!) but I really hope that it comes in great/perfect condition, and that there are no problems so I can unlock and have some fun tonight.

Man- that sucks dude. I'm paranoid that mine will be in the same condition. I'm really anal about the condition of my things and it would kill me to have a dent in my phone. I'm not expecting a "Perfect" phone, but i am expecting a refurbished phone, not a "used" phone. Let us know what the apple store does for you. According to DHL mines sitting on my doorstep right now.
