okay, cool. well i'm going to do what was just posted and fax my new proof of purchase. wouldn't mind having a warranty until march of 09!

My understanding is that AT&T warrants it for 90 days under their blanket refurb policy, but *Apple* continues to warrant it as a refurb Apple product, even though it came from AT&T, by their policy, which is to give it a year....

Chicago or Arizona

I just found out about this deal, it's just what I need (or needed)!

Does anyone know if the deal is still available at any At&t stores in either Chicago or Arizona?

Thanks,
TM

re: warranty -- there's a sticker right on the side of my AT&T that says (amongst other things) that "Refurbished iPhones come with a 1-year warranty through Apple." And directs you to make a claim through Apple.

I haven't activated mine, but as soon as I do, I'll appeal to Apple (the page says my warranty is currently good through July 30, 08).

Sold both my iphones on fleabay for $420 shipped each. Good enough profit for me.

Let's say if and when a 3g iphone is announced, how much do you think my "slightly used" iphone would go for on ebay? Would I have to tell them it was a refurb or could I just leave that part out?

finally

so i just got my phone and it looked like it was brand new...no scratches and the earbuds looked like they never been used. I already unlocked it and it works great...so happy now!

I hope you are being sarcastic with your last sentence. That would be unethical: to sell a refurbished iPhone as though it was new when you first bought it.

damn you people capitalizing on this instead of letting people who cant afford it otherwise buy

I didn't activate mine before I went to the website. Not sure you have to, just have to prove you bought it now rather than a year ago July.

I faxed my proof of receipt to Apple with the form suppled on the Apple Site on Wednesday today I got this email from Apple:

Dear Apple Customer,

Product Serial Number: xxxxxxxxx

Thank you for sending your product's proof of purchase to Apple.

After reviewing the proof of purchase, we have approved your request to update the date of purchase. Effective immediately, the purchase date for your product in our records is: 3/19/2008

To verify service coverage for your product, please visit <http://www.apple.com/support>. If necessary you may “Select Your Country” on the right side of the page. Under "About Your Support Coverage" on the right side of the page, enter your product's serial number and click Go. You will see the purchase date from our records, model name, web support resources, and AppleCare support agreement status.

Sincerely,

AppleCare Agreement Administration

SWEEEEET!

You have to fax Apple a copy of your receipt.

Go back and read my post. I stated that you dont have to activate YOUR PHONE before you fax in the form. I've already inputted my serial number into the website, filled out the Apple fax coversheet and faxed the info to Apple. My warranty has been extended.

But thanks for the tip! :D

Hmm.. I faxed the form on Tuesday morning, and I haven't heard a peep from them. Case # and Agreement # were left empty (I thought they didn't apply) on the cover fax... I am wondering whether that is delaying the process.

RG did u fill out the form on the apple site:

http://www.apple.com/support/service...fpurchase.html

I did that and than printed out form and faxed with my receipt

That should do it!

Hi,

Yes, I did fill it on Saturday. I got the (automated?) replay saying they received my warranty claim, and to fax the invoice with the fax cover if I hadn't already done so. I faxed on Tuesday morning.. I usually get up at 4:30 am, so I forgot to bring the papers on Monday.

Seeing claims filled on Wednesday already approved is making me worry a bit. Hopefully it will be done tomorrow...

Well, I wouldn't worry too much. Obviously, other's iPhone are getting their warranties extended, so that shouldn't be a problem. If you don't hear back tomorrow, I might do the process again... or find a number to call. What is it 1800-SOS-APPL?? That's what it used to be anyway. There's no contact info on the email I got back, otherwise I'd give you the ph number/email address. Keep us posted.

i live in chicago and called around trying to find one. couldn't and just got one through ATT online instead.

refurbished iphones

When I go to apple.com or at&t websites nothing comes up about the refurbished iphones. Are they no longer doing this deal? :(

Just want to say, I took advantage of this deal, and I have to say. IT IS THE BEST, 249.99 I ever spent. Thanks all here for the heads up.

The phone couldnt be any more mint condition, as well as all the accessories that came with it! Just a great deal.

AT&T's site seems to only show the offer when it's available, and you get a blank store template page when it's gone. Apple has a refurbished iPod page, but they only have refurbs available (they continually go in and out of stock) if they show them on the page.

The refurbished iPhone 8GB has never been offered at $249 at Apple, though, AFAIK. Only at AT&T. $349 at Apple. It appears to be there now, though.

The AT&T price of $249 has also been offered in some AT&T Wireless stores. You might call local ones and ask.

From what I've been able to find out, the in-store refurbs may have only been available in select markets on the east coast. I have called numerous stores in Vegas and they all told me that they received no refurbs at all. :(

I'll just be patient for the next round of online refurbs. :)
