$249 refurbished iPhones

Yes, I got that too. I'm bummed... and praying for the 3 day (so I get it Friday!)

On another note, I've got a really stupid question. I'm assuming that iPlus is the way to go for unlocking/activating/jailbreaking, and I'm assuming that it's easiest on a windows machine. If I do all that on a windows machine, can I take the phone and plug it into my Mac to do iTunes management or will I be forced to "reset" it to be used for Mac? If I reset it for Mac, will I have to re-jailbreak, etc?

I think it's the usual. Shipping is two day, but order fulfillment is not overnight, so you have a day or two more while the order gets shipped...

I'm still researching, and searching and reading, but have you specifically rejected ZiPhone for a reason, already? It seems to be generally very good, and it works on all the majors (Windows, Intel and PPC Macs), and it appears to be compatible with all versions of the bootloader, etc.

Ok i got my confirmation via email yesterday - and I Noticed AT&T hit my card for $1.00, than today I see another hit from AT&T for $265.19 which I am in FL my tax is 6.5%. $249 plus 6.5 =$265.19. Hmmmm so will my $1,00 be credited back??

Have not received confirmation of tracking or shipping yet - keep ya guys posted

They were available for over a day - that's a long time for a good priced refurb.

It may take them a day or two to process the order.

The $1 should just be a placeholder -- it's the way the credit card system works. They're allowed to make a pending charge pending the final calculation of costs, and then they just adjust it. It doesn't get credited back -- it just never gets confirmed and gets deleted / disappears. It shouldn't even show up on your statement.

Well, mine is still pending on my card; $265 is still a good deal, and it's not too surprising, since AT&T certainly has a local presence, which as I understand it, requires them to collect sales tax.

Yeah, you know, I guess I'm just unsure about the bootloader thing. Being that this is a refurb, and I'll be using it unlocked on TMobile, I want it to be as clean as possible in case something needs to be replaced again. I must have gone through 4 Treo 600 refurbs when they came out, so I know it can happen. I'd like to purchase Applecare too for the same reason, but the "voiding warranty" and bootloader things has me being cautious. I want to know that I can restore it to factory defaults and not have Apple question it. For that reason, I've decided on iPlus rather than ZiPhone (unless you can talk me out of it)

My CC hasn't been charged yet <sad face> When did you place your order (what time), and where are you in sunny FLA? I'm in Orlando.
 
I ordered online Monday evening... I'ved been charged (+ tax) and got a DHL tracking.... mine is arriving on the 20th. I also got 2 emails from AT&T (order confirmation + billing/shipping details). Can't wait!!! :D I'm in South Florida. And as of today, looks like no more stock of refurbs in AT&T's site!

Placed mine about 3:00pm yesterday afternoon! - I am in Port St Lucie, so we are not to far away! - I wait with baited breath for an email from AT&T for shipping info

The hell I care about which one you use? This is purely selfish! I want to know which one I should use! :eek: ;) :D Just kidding. :D

It seems like opinions vary... but I do see your point, I guess. It's something for me to think about also, as I too plan to use mine on T-Mobile.

Phobic - can you post the condition of the refurb when you get it - I am assuming it will be in pristine condition, but ya never know
 
Bought 2 using different e-mails, credit cards, and billings addresses about 24 hours ago on cingular.com

Both have shipped -- one via DHL and the other via UPS but both should be here by tomorrow.

Like all AT&T refurbs, I was charged sales tax (CA tax) with free shipping.

Sweet deal :D

Ya know if the greedy fools ordering 3 at a time would let my mother get one without them selling out, that'd be grand. :rolleyes:

Not everyone is 19 with a pocket protector sitting on the internet cashing three ip's and snarfing over the Wiki entry they just did about their great deviance.

There are a lot of people who get screwed that should have gotten one honestly that are "normals".

I have my 8g I bought brand new so I don't particularly care, but my mother was sent a link to get one and I find out the people hoarding 5 and ten at a time have screwed her out of a chance to buy one.

Totally off topic but I am shocked that there is one other person from PSL on here. Goes to show how small a world this is. And I should have ordered a refurbished one just for the price as well. Kind of sad. Oh well.
 
Honestly, if people want to buy 3,4,5 of them, there's no use in stopping them. It happens with any good deals or hot gadgets out there. At least ATT put some sort of limit on it but there are ways around it.

If your mom has survived this long w/o an Iphone, she can wait just a bit longer.

I didn't want to bother with new e-mail, address, etc.

One word: Karma

someone who could care less about other people is gonna whip out a smart comment about should have been quicker, or something to the effect. ............but I'm going to tell you karma is an inescapable certainty and when you're laying on that hospital bed looking at the waiting list for that liver or kidney - you're next on the list and some celeb with $250,000 to spare slides in and takes your organ right in front of you.........well you should have been quicker, eh? Just an example..... not quite on the same level of a sold out phone.

It's really not that serious, but karma doesn't seem to care when it comes back around. She's not dying for one so no setback on her part, but I'm sure someone out there was and it might have been a big deal for them to get one. She'd have "liked" to have had one. No strong feelings about it either way.

Personally, bought mine for full price and love it so whatever. :) Hope they get them restocked for the others that just want to buy ONE.
