If you unlock or jailbreak the phone, warranty is void anyways...

EDIT: I tried the above link with my iPhone - Apple says it's "Not Activated". I guess that's right - no warranty until activation...

So what have people done with a malfunctioning iPhone? They can be restored to a factory-fresh state, but I suppose it would be hard to prove that the phone is malfunctioning then, wouldn't it?

Got one ordered! Girlfriend accidentally cracked her iPhone's glass on Friday, we eBay'd it and got $250 out of it. Looks like she's got a free replacement on the way!

Just Bought Mine!

Finally, I can be complete person. But seriously, this is a great deal and it's made me wonder, used iPhones on ebay can sell up to 375 bux. If they revamp the iPhone for 3g, etc, in June, will these 8gb, edge machines be suddenly lowered in value? Would I be able to unload it for the chance to get some money back to get a new one?

Just take good care of it and you'd be able to sell it.

The people buying them are probably unlockers and then shipping them overseas to countries that don't get the iPhone at all...

They have to purchase as many of them as possible from many sources as usually there are limits that Apple and AT&T put on selling them to individuals.

I just ordered one as a potential present but we'll see...with the rumor of a $100 price drop and the potential for the 8GB being phased out, not to mention the likelihood of a 3G announcement within a few months, it might be a better present to return it, wait a few months, and buy the new cheapest model for $300-$400.

All right, all right, I ordered one too. I haven't decided how long I'll keep it, and whether I'm going to keep T-Mobile with no contract or go to AT&T. But $249 is really quite a price. I'll try it out, see if I can give up my Berry, and go from there... :)

not sure

I'm wondering if you could buy the applecare for a refurb through AT&T? Does anyone know this one?

Not sure about buying AppleCare from AT&T for a refurbished iPhone, but you can still purchase AppleCare directly from Apple for your refurbished iPhone. Like any other AppleCare coverable product, you have until the end of your one year warranty to do so. Doesn't make any difference if the product is brand-new or refurbished. (Hope this gives you something to work with.)

That's a good deal.

Anyone would like to buy 1 or 2 and ship them to Mexico City? I will pay an extra of course!

saw this earlier on engadget as well. sold my 4gb iphone months ago after i got sick of it. thought about picking up a used 8gb one to use some of the upcoming SDK features. not that i really need another phone, but for the price, it'll be perfect for watching movies and stuff on flights.
unlocked FTW

anyone think this might be apples way of testing the waters and see how the profit difference is if they lower the price $100? Hypothetically even if they make less off each phone but sell more, profit might be the same, and iphones would be everywhere creating even more revenue. :apple::apple::apple:

I got a 8gb for $250 yesterday from a AT&T physical store. Its as good as a new one, no scratches, in perfect shape.. all the accessories are included. 14 day return policy + 1 year Warranty.

Edit: not a display model, they have few more in stock, comes in standard AT&T box, not apple one.

hey what store did you get it at?

Sounds like they are clearing the inventory of 8 Gig phones, either that or they are selling real bad..

To me this means that they will discontinue this phone, and go with either the 16 only or introduce a 32 Gig version.

Once the 8 Gig version is all gone they 'will likely drop the 16 Gig by 100.

awesome deal iphone

Literally, the best investment of my life, i have been anticipating getting an iphone since before they came out, i am soooo excited for it to get here!!!!!!!!

SUCH A STEAL!

3g!

have you guys considered that when the 3G model comes out this summer, Apple will probably still keep the current non-3G iPhone and reduce it's price? Maybe $199?

Just something to consider...

But then...the starting price will still be at the US$ 400.00 mark.
I am about to ignore my senses (was saving for an iPod Touch 16Gb)
and get this deal today.

The ONLY thing holding myself is the fact that I was getting used to have 16 Gb and now I might get only 7 Gb (8Gb less the OS).
