I got the $499 model with 256GB. I don't need a lot of storage for this device as its going to be primarily used for online. I have a M4 Macbook Air 512 GB for heavy duty work, photo editing etc.

I got the 512 so I could get Touch ID. I could have gotten by with 256 but, i like Touch ID.
Same here. I like TouchID. The Neo will be my secondary Mac. As fast as my M4 Air on single-core tasks and no slower than my old M1 Air was (which I thought was an amazing device 5 years ago) on multicore tasks. 8GB may be a bit limiting (won’t be running virtual machines on this, that’s for my M4 Air with 24GB) but for $700 this is a good “travel Mac.”

I can’t wait for people to see the yellow Mac and start asking me questions. lol. I also treated myself to an Apple polishing cloth., even though I have 3 or 4 already. My drive out price was $661.

Same here - got the Citrus.

But I also ordered the Indigo as a backup...

I got the Blush as I liked my old “Rose Gold” iPad Pro and M1 Air, but was tempted by the Citrus.

Not going to buy one. But I would definitely go with the 512GB. With $100 more, can get double the storage as well as TouchID.
My thoughts exactly. I reckon I’ll not need the extra storage space but it’s such a cheap configuration I might as well do it anyway. It seems like a bargain, 256GB extra storage and Touch ID for a mere $100?!?

Backup in case you didn't like the Citrus?
Yes!

Couldn't tell how the Citrus would look based on YT and social media hosts, so I ordered an Indigo just in case.

Citrus is being delivered; Indigo Apple store pickup - both on 3/11.

Going to be a tough week waiting.....

I thought about Indigo but, I remembered that I had had the Midnight MB and Air in the past and thought the Indigo would look too much like the Midnight. I thought something completely different and out in left field would be fun. Lol

If you use iCloud Drive and iCloud Photo Library, 256 Gb SSD will be fine.

iCloud Drive will automatically provide you with all files visible locally, but only as stubs if you don't have room to store them.

256 because the base is already $200 more than in the US and I couldn’t bring myself to pay over 1k for this computer just for Touch ID!

My current Dell has 499gb of storage and I’m only using 112 of that.

$sallypat, since you work in IT, my work issued laptop has a fingerprint scanner but our IT department (Government job) doesn't let us use it. I wonder if this is common? Maybe it makes sense then for Apple to only offer touchID on the 512 model since it might not be commonly used for mass utilization in school and government.

I would find it hilarious if I can rock a pink Neo given to me by our IT guys haha

Yes, we use the same restrictions on our Apple devices we enroll thru DEP & Apple School Manager.

Our MDM controls what wireless VLAN to use, apps only that are vetted, and lock out iCloud/FMM/iTunes, etc...

We also restrict student devices from using fingerprint ID on iMac/Macbook as well as face ID on our iOS devices.

We do this prevent a student from locking up the device making it impossible for us to recover and restore the device should the student leave or break it for Apple service.

I will be curious to see the read/write speed difference between the 256GB and 512GB models.

The 512GB Mac mini has faster read/write speeds compared to the 256GB Mac mini.

I went with the 512GB model. $100 for double the storage on the Neo is half the price compared to other Macs.

I am going to setup my Neo as new instead of from a TM backup. I plan on running Geekbench and Blackmagic just to compare it to my Mac mini, iPads and W11 machines.
