32 to 128 is too big of a jump

I think it'll be:

iPhone 7: 32,64,128
iPhone 7+: 64,128,256

That makes a lot of sense, especially since it sounds like Apple is trying to add more value to the plus line. Personally, I'd rather they kept everything the same except screen size, but I'm biased... I prefer smaller phones.

prices should be going down, not up with NAND flash, wait, then buy. Won't affect Apple's pricing much though.

I must be one of those that still think an 8Gig flash drive is still 'useful' today for anything but an OS boot media.

Thank the lord. Everyday is a struggle with my 16gb, deleting pictures, apps, etc is almost a daily occurrence. Nothing is worse than going somewhere and trying to capture an important moment, but not being able to take a video/picture (out of storage again!) because Apple had to be stingy with the memory.

Not because Apple is stingy. It's because you are cheap and purchased the iPhone with lowest amount of memory knowing it wouldn't be enough. If you take pictures or videos the 16 gig isn't enough. There are people out there who do not use their phones for pics or videos so the 16 gig suits them fine. End of story.

great since I used about 18gb of my current 128gb iphone 6s its going to be nice knowing I can get more!

So is it going to be Normal iPhone 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB? and the plus 32GB, 128GB and 256GB?

That seems to be a ridiculous amount of storage for a phone at first glance but a quick think and I can easily see use cases for people that shoot 4K, and if we are going with this dual camera system for the Plus I imagine shots off that are going to get a bit bigger. Then with Live Photos too.... Yeah, you might be needing this.

Go girl! Teach them a lesson by buying their base model!
And do buy that new sports car, but don't put petrol in it. In your face, OPEC.

Well they are upping the base model now, aren't they? It is no longer a viable business position without garnering negative publicity.

Ha, a few weeks ago I needed to turn an old Mac Pro into a Linux file server. These old Macs don't like booting "foreign" OSes from USB sticks, so I ended up putting a $10 8GB SSD in it instead. Works just fine :)

No it is because Apple is stingy. It is the year 2016, storage is dirt cheap. Apple's stinginess has actually caused me to move away from their ecosystem (iTunes, and iCloud storage) and move toward others (Google Photos which provides unlimited storage of photos and videos, and Spotify). Had they not been so cheap with base storage I could've just stored my music and photos on my phone/icloud, but from a consumer point of view, it was easier and less expensive to just change ecosystems.

Didn't even consider these stats. Thanks.

Who needs Micro SD cards?! ;)

For people that don't want to pay $200 plus for the privilege every time they upgrade their phones. Micro SD cards are cheap and swappable. Even Samsung is giving them away with Note 7 preorders. And you can take the the 256GB card and pop it in your new phone.

Not so sure. There is a $100 jump between the standard and the plus right? Price wise it would have to be a $200 difference to make the bean counters happy or people would just get a base Plus.

Here is a recommendation for you. Photo storage will never become an issue if you do these 2 things:

1. Get Google Photos. It provides simple backup just by opening the app. Once they are in the cloud, you can consistently run workflow (#2 below) to clear your camera roll.
2. Get Workflow App on the Appstore and get the "Clear Camera Roll." You can place it on your home screen and run it with one click.

This is assuming you are comfortable with Google Photos...some people do not like being a product; however, I think it is a bad ass service. The speed, ease of searching, facial recognition, etc. Its great.

Google photos has an option to delete the files off your phone once synced. You don't need workflow.

On a side note, I think in order for Apple to compete with Samsung's expandable memory, this needs to happen and offer the customer the 256 GB. Being how much memory is consumed with software updates, Live Photo's, music, movies, ect. No one will ever complain about having to much memory.

I would just love this because the middle tier would hopefully be 128 then, so I can get 128 for the same price I'm paying for the 64.

So that means 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB, iPhone 7 Plus will have dual lens camera and a smart connector on both phones with a better battery case

Sounds about right!

I think I'll be more interested this fall into Apple Watch, Samsung Gear S3, MacBook Pro and hopefully a new Apple TV hardware update
