Thank the lord. Everyday is a struggle with my 16gb, deleting pictures, apps, etc is almost a daily occurrence. Nothing is worse than going somewhere and trying to capture an important moment, but not being able to take a video/picture (out of storage again!) because Apple had to be stingy with the memory.
Oh yes. Thank the lord. You bought a 16GB phone, all because Apple had no 250GB offering at the time. That is why. LOL.

It makes me smile some what that I have a 10 year old 1st gen 256GB iPod mini (owned from new)!

Thumbs up on "Lamb Lies Down".
Also, I still have my gold colored (sorry; "coloured") Mini.
I replaced the battery 4 times. Replaced the hard drive 2 times. Still kicking.

Good news for the new MacBook Pros ? They can't put more storage in a phone than in a "pro" computer right ?

?? I'm sorry but huh? If the iPhone's max config is 256gb, that's a quarter of what you can get in a rMBP....

Oh, you just want a "pro" computer that's cheaper. That's the real gripe here.

If you're a professional, 128gb rMBPs aren't meant for you.

I think I will get the iPhone 6S with 64 GB at the entry level price of the iPhone 7 with 32 GB. I prefer more space and a headphone jack over a bit faster cpu.

I would only consider getting the new iPhone if it has 256GB storage, but then 128GB is O.K. for me at the moment. My iPhone 6S is only about a half full if I take all my photos off it.

I'd be much more interested in the iPad Pro getting more storage. 256GB is quite limiting for that. I'd prefer it to have at least 1TB (but then I would want the existing price for 256GB for that or lower)

Does anyone have an estimated guess as to what the file size for pictures taken with the (rumoured) dual lens camera would be, double maybe? I'm thinking is another reason why Apple could be changing the base storage and adding 256GB option. Also 4K probably eats up a lot of storage.

I have the 6 Plus at the moment so i don't know how much space is taken up by the newer cameras. But i'm thinking for the iPhone 7 Plus i might jump to the 128GB or even the 256GB if the new cameras are going to take up a lot of space.

What does everyone think?

That´s not UFS storage, not even the new Galaxy note 7 is compatible with it. That´s the standard storage against the standard storage. The first generation cards of UFS have an avarage write speed of 170 Mb/s and 530 Mb/s reading, and thats speaking of a external card.

No, they have a maximum write speed of 170 MB/s and a maximum read speed of 530 MB/s. Real world tests are usually much lower than theoretical maximums.

Great to see you prowling the forums, Tim. Got any new Watch bands in the pipeline?

You ignored my serious point. Apple don't like letting people use crappy add ons with the phone, it sours the experience for those who don't know any better. To them it'd be the phone at fault, not the fake SD card they bought on eBay.

Nobody makes you buy the watch bands! Prefer my Tag connected myself, feels like a 'real' watch and it'll be worth something when I trade it :)

How much memory is needed: after years of using 16GB (and it wasn't that difficult), last year decided to go 128Gb. After 6 months and installing every possible app I can imagine of, still 80GB available:)

Yeah I have Google Photos, but for some reason I still can't hold more than 50 or so pics on my phone without it saying I'm out of storage. I don't even have a lot of apps. Maybe texts or saved snaps? My 6 is on its last leg anyway, shattered screen, scuffed up, slowed down. Need a new 7, hopefully 32 will be the standard.

WhatsApp, Snapchat and spotify are major memory hogs too.

I never have many pictures on my phone. Ive got 115 gb google drive and backup with photos every time I'm on wifi. Having a 20-30 gb picture collection on your phone is so 2013 :)

Just use Google Photos and let it free up space for you.

At the moment, I'm still on the fence about internal storage up to 256GB. Years ago, pre cloud storage, I was all for it. Now with the plethora of choices for cloud storage, I'm not so sure we need as much as 256GB. But, this is merely my opinion...

How judgmental are you on a scale of 1-10? 10 being highest.

Didn't realize that having common sense when it comes to finances was being "judgmental...." But I do realize that in this day and age people get their "feelings hurt" at the smallest things. Hope you got to your safe place in time to "spare your feels" from experiencing such judgment.

Bad news for Apple fans. Of course they can. It is Apple, after all. "Your're streaming it wrong."

But seriously, for all the love I feel towards my Macbook Pro 2013 Retina, I wish it came with a larger hard-drive. If the new round of Macbooks offers more storage options for reasonable pricing, I'll probably update.

No it is because Apple is stingy. It is the year 2016, storage is dirt cheap. Apple's stinginess has actually caused me to move away from their ecosystem (iTunes, and iCloud storage) and move toward others (Google Photos which provides unlimited storage of photos and videos, and Spotify). Had they not been so cheap with base storage I could've just stored my music and photos on my phone/icloud, but from a consumer point of view, it was easier and less expensive to just change ecosystems.

Apple is not being cheap. Doesn't matter what year it is, Apple can put 16 gigs in their base model if they want to, and they do because it's one of the best seller. Like I said there are lots of people who don't do photos and videos on their iPhones which makes it the perfect choice for them. Unlike the cheap people who know they do tons of photos and videos and still buy the 16 gig iPhone, or think one dollar for 50 gigs iCloud storage is too much. It makes absolutely no sense why people do that and then complain that Apple isn't putting enough memory in their phone or offering enough online storage. So what if Google offers unlimited storage in the cloud. You people think because Google is doing it Apple should be obliged to do the same just need to cut the crap and pull your head out.

Google photos has an option to delete the files off your phone once synced. You don't need workflow.

Educated and tech savvy people should not want to delete their photos off their phones just because it's been synced. They should know all too well that having a backup is important, and that having their important photos reside only on a server is a dense move.

It's always better to have too much storage than not enough. You could use the extra space to store movies, videos, music collection, etc. The price of memory is constantly dropping as the memory sizes get larger and larger, and in smaller packages. Apple would really be moving away from their old ways if they only bumped the price $100 for the extra 96gb.
Exactly. Free space is also what helps keeps a device running fast so we should never complain if our device is 25% full instead of 80% full.
