Other than Half Blood Prince, the titles have gotten worse over the course of the series.

Considering a ton of people line up and camp out to purchase the HP books and see the movies, I'd say a lot of people care.
I'll agree w/ previous posters, the title isn't nearly as intriguing as past titles. But I still wanna read it. Gotta know how it ends.
Can't wait... soon everyone will know that Snape is a good guy, and only killed Dumbledore because Dumbledore asked him too.
Voldemort will be much easier to catch and kill now that he trusts double agent Snape completely.

Honestly Cuaron movie was good and more interesting than the book itself.
But no way it compares to Dosteosvky...

Besides, I wasn't aware that your opinion or even a single person's opinion was enough to determine what is and isn't "real literature."

It's ironic that we worship these writers as if the greats didn't exist.
I tried reading them, but I started after seeing the first three movies...read the first book and figured I could wait for the rest of the movies...
That said, I did enjoy watching the Wikipedia editing begin as soon as "...Half-blood Prince" was released, so I could find out plot details (some real and others wiki-dly humorous).

I agree with you, lord patton, Snape is a good guy - he was practically telling Harry how he had to improve at the very end of Book Six. However, I think that it will be Wormtail who betrays Voldemort.

I wonder if people said the same about Cervantes in the 17th Century...
In the end, shouldn't any author that encourages people to read be considered amonst the great (regardless of your opinion regarding the material)? I think Les Mis is dry garbage and War & Peace is wonderful, but I consider both Hugo and Tolstoy to be a great.

It's exciting for me age-wise because i'm the same age as Radcliffe/Potter in real life and the story so i'm literally growing up with Harry I can't wait for this book, i just hope it doesn't let me down... the last has to be the best right? Please?

I've been reading these books with my nieces since they were 11 years old and the first one came out. We read the books, have lunch and discuss them. This may not be "great literature" but they are always fun to read in the Summertime and have a picnic with "my girls"

I've read each one as they came out to my kids, who are now 20 and 17. We plan on reading the next one together as well, and at 50+ in age I still love the books. If you can't appreciate a great story at any age then you are missing out in life. That goes with any story, whether it is Winnie the Pooh, Where the Wild Things Are, or War and Peace. The only real problem should be that when you are very young you might need some help with some of the words in War and Peace.
btw, I'm guessing one of the "Hallows" referred to in the title is "Godric's Hollow" where Harry's parents were killed.
Hallow is just old English for saint, as in Hallowe'en = All Saints' Eve. Deathly Hallow seems to indicate something like the Dementors.
I can't wait for it either.
I wouldn't go so far as to say I am obsessed, but I really enjoy the simple but involving nature of the HP series.
