What did you not understand about "people are celebrating the arrivals of their new iMacs"? When a baby arrives at a friend's home, do you go over and tell them "boy, this is ugly, no hair, no teeth, can't walk, ***** itself all the time"?

Hard Drives is what makes a computer slow. Fusion drive is not going to fix a mechanical drive getting much slower after a few years.

You have. YOU have to go SSD. I too would have picked i5 and SSD over i7 and Fusion. mechanical harddrives are designed geniusly to become slower gradually and force consumers to go out and buy new computer. ram or cpu does not become slow. A harddrive does.

Blech. Unless you run specifically designed benchmarks, a Fusion drive is as fast or faster than an SSD drive. Yes, it will be faster than SSD alone when you write a lot of small files, because of the 4 GB write cache that it is using.

Can you say more about this? According to the Bare Feats iMac storage shootout, the 2013 256, 512 and 1 TB flash SSD outperformed the 2012 1 TB fusion by a handy margin. http://barefeats.com/haswel2.html. The 512 SSD in the 2012 also outperformed the 1 TB fusion.

Or are these the "specifically designed benchmarks" you're referring to?

I'm leaning toward the 512 GB SSD simply because there's a lot of stuff I'd like to have on the SSD, and 128 GB doesn't seem like enough with the Fusion drive.

Let me be more specific on that last reply...

With photography work, wouldn't the 512 GB or 1 TB flash be recommended over the Fusion because it involves writing larger files?

So what?I have a life i dont judge people comments for a living.

TW PGA TOUR 12 had to run on medium settings for graphics on my '07 and was not smooth all the time. The new maxed out 27 runs it a SUPER settings and flows perfect.
