Can see a bit but nothing that bad...

I think it's really sad for Apple that people consider themselves 'lucky' if their screen isn't faulty.

The question is, is the picture a right way to show yellowing? If i take photos of a screen it doesnt look the same as i see the screen with my eyes

This is a very good point. When I was looking at the screen in a completely dark room doing the tests I didn't notice yellowing, at least with my eyes, i checked it over quite a bit.

Then I took the pic and the photo showed what seems to be a little bit of yellowing, could it be the angle of the shot taken or camera itself making it appear worse then it really is?

I am not denying that people have problems with their screens, It's just that perhaps some cases appear worse from a photo then in real life? What do you think?

Extremely disappointing!

I had a post here last May stating bearable yellow tint problem with my iMac 27, after a hard drive failure i had to send my iMac back to Apple care, i was hoping the problem was solved so I asked them to replace my screen as well, it came back with a worse panel showed much larger area of yellow tint...

Then I decided to wait for a while until a week ago before my holiday i called for another pick-up, hoping a perfect screen after my holiday, a few minutes ago I pressed the power button with that hope - the start up screen with apple logo clearly shows that i have got a even more disgusting panel - the worst of all i have to say, an uneven yellow band on the bottom plus yellower tint spreads over the middle of the screen, oh yes, they decided to make it even worse, a big dead spot as well in the corner ....

I do a lot of black & white photography plus work as a 3D designer, but still for a while I have tried to live with the yellow issue until it got really frustrating - i have to once again arrange an exchange as this one is just unbearable! I don't dare to hope a perfect one but please, Apple, just not this disgusting! :(

Added:

after a few hours, when i was editing a photo in Aperture, I have discovered something really disturbing, from right edge of the screen inwards there is around 8cm wide vertical band shows obvious lighter tone than the rest of screen...

Is this really Apple? Hard drive failed after a year and this is the 3rd screen of the iMac, and it's getting worse and worse... oh Apple...

I've created a petition on this and the staining and grey smudge issue. I'm also a current owner of the late 2009 27" iMac and have a yellow tinge on the lower third of my screen. Just recently, I started experiencing a stain that appears on the right edge of the screen.

I'm not sure if macrumors allows links to petitions, but here it is:

If a moderator could let me know if this is okay or not, that would be great. I just want Apple to finally address this issue.

Does this yellow screen issue plague the newer 2011 model iMac's as well?

yes, I got mine a week ago at the apple store in Chandler AZ. Yellow at the bottom of the screen PLUS a faint dark horizontal line. Do not buy this computer or try your luck and be ready to ask for a replacement multiple times.

Here is my 21.5 2011 model, had it for 5 days. Yesterday I noticed when comparing 2 of the same document the greys in the document looked darker on the one opened on the right side of the screen...

So I did the screen test and it shows the left side of the screen being lighter than the right. Not sure if I should bother with going to Apple about it because another model might be worse than this.

Took my mid 2010 iMac 27" i5 2.8 in for the yellow tinge issue today (the last day of the original AppleCare and purchased the AppleCare today) and Apple Store will first replace the LED backlighting to see if it fixes the problem and if not, replace the whole panel. Man I have to say, Apple keeps exceeding my expectations for everything and I'm so in love with it. :D

Hi guys!
You've seen a lot of screens, how bad is mine?
Taken with my phone camera. Screen at 50% of brightness.

yellow tint on iMac screen

Went to Apple store today and replaced my iMac with the new one.
Please take a look. I think this one is better. (the picture of my previous one is in the previous post.)
What do you think? Please reply. Should I replace this one too or this is the keeper?

I am actually having the same problem right now with my few weeks old iMac. Going to bring it to an ASP tomorrow and get it fixed cause it really bothers me. Specially since I work with a lot of solid backgrounds, mostly grey, I can't stand it that the left side of my iMac looks like coolish white and the right side more like warm white. Didn't had this issue either from the beginning, so hopefully it will get fixed soon cause I really don't like being without my iMac ever since I got it :p.

Its the yellow tint issue. Mine is similar. Bought one a week ago, had it a couple of days then noticed this, top left was normal white, rest of the screen it went a darker shade until the bottom right where it was yellow.

Replaced it at an Apple store and the new one is better but not completely without the issue. Tested their machines in the store and 3/4 had the issue to varying degrees.

Am sticking with this one now because its very slight and barely noticeable, whereas my previous one looked like yellow was leaking over half the screen. The ones they had set up for demo also seemed worse.

If it gets worse over time will use applecare to get screen replaced.

Seems like even with todays iMac's the problem is still there, although not as bad anymore as it used to be. Hopefully the new screen they will replace it with is going to be better. And hope they do it right as well and not have stuck dust particles between the glass and the screen.

I already got a replacement iMac because the first one I got already had a few dead pixels. So I am a little bit disappointed right now in the quality of the LG screens, or I am just very unlucky.

If I didn't work with solid backgrounds so much, I would not have noticed the problem that much, but once you catch your eye on it, it's hard to accept it haha.

Yeah. And when I took mine to the Apple store to change it, at first they just accepted the change. Then later were basically trying to say it was just "glue drying" and would be fine in a few weeks. Then tried to say it was normal, when I showed them the fault on the demo machines they had set up.

I think they have reduced the severity of the problem so less people notice, but not necessarily reduced the occurence of the issue.

I'm not entirely happy with this one, better though it is but not going to go through the hassle of driving to the apple shop, spending ages waiting for them to do the swap, add the extra RAM, inspect the new screen in the ridiculously bright environment, bring it home, see its the same or "worse" as before. Like I say the demo models only one out of the 4 21.5" were completely right as far as I could tell. So I suspect the odds of getting a 100% right one aren't great. Fairly anecdotal evidence I know but still.....

Does anyone have the issue when they play Flash video FULLSCREEN for more than a minute the tinge subsides? And then comes back again after some time?
