Does the MagSafe connector from the 27 Cinema Display come with a little piece of plastic to cover/protect the port(at the end of the cable)? The Power Adapters packed in with the macbook, and the ones that are sold separately, do.

Nope

I apologize if this is a totally newbie question, but is there a way to have the ACD on full screen (i.e. watching a movie) while keeping the connected MBP off of full screen for normal operation?

For example, if I try to open a movie in iTunes (window is on the ACD), it goes full screen on the MBP but not the ACD.

Nope, when clicking on macbook display, exits full screen. But you can just drag the window so it fills the whole screen and continue doing stuff on macbook screen without being exited

Just a quick write up of my experience with the new 27" LCD compare to the old 30" ACD. Not sure if its too late but hopefully it will help someone.

Went to the Apple store, had the 30" ACD and 27" ACD side by side, spend about 20 min compare them side by side, doing pretty much the same thing and this is what I found.

The nice thing I like about testing at Apple store is they have the same demo material to test on every station, same iphoto pics for example so its easy to do a side by side comparison. This is not a super technical side by side comparison though.

The 27 is definitely has much nicer display quality, color, contrast, finer pixels.. just everything, its a more modern, better quality monitor. Things pop out much more and the colors are sharp and great contrast. And very nice details in the same pics. Some things are settle, but you can see the difference, like the way it displays black colors, settle things I don't see as clear on the 30 that I see more clear on the 27. Glare can be annoying to be honest, but I might be willing to overlook it with all the things you do get with this monitor...

However... I won't buy the 27 though. And the main reason is the size of the screen. After even just this 20 min + of usage, I do find having the extra resolution and screen space does make a big difference (at least to me) for having such a big screen in the first place. You basically lose a big bottom chunk of screen real estate and when you have a few apps up, it does make a big difference. So unfortunately, I would of love to get something like the 27. So I am probably going to get the HP ZR30w instead.. Maybe Apple will come out with a new 32" ACD?? :D

I've had mine for a little over a month now. Haven't had an issues, no yellowing screen, no sound issues, nothing. I changed the background to the one that comes with the Ipad, (as someone on here suggested) and that took away 90% of the eye strain issues. I'm glad I lucked out with a wonderful product!

Just got my 27" LED Cinema Display! and my eyes just went O.O when I set it up on my desk, def worth upgrading from the dual 24" was getting tired of moving my head side to side. Eventually I'll go back to dual setup and maybe get another 27" in the future if I ever feel a need for more pixel space. But I am absolutely happy with my 27" ACD.

Edit: To anyone else who bought a 27" off the Apple online store, did anyone notice that the box was double sealed? the original seal on the bottom was already slit open and then resealed with another, I did a bit searching around and people say its due to custom inspection which I can understand but was wondering if anyone else encountered this as well.

I was wondering the same thing. Good to hear it was just for custom inspection.

So i am opening a new architecture office here and i would like to show you our little start with the arrival of the Mac Pro,,
