Awesome.... I am a "PC guy" and my old monitor actually died so I decided to buy the new DELL U3011 30". The DELL was amazing *except* it had a somewhat aggressive anti-glare coating on it that really bothered my eyes.

All I want is a nice, sharp 27"-30" IPS display that doesn't have a "sparkle" effect like the DELL Ultrasharp and NEC Multisync displays. After reading thru the comments on this forum on the ACD27", it looks like my quest for a monitor may have finally ended, thank guys!!! :D
i know exactly what you mean about the anti-glare coating 'sparkle'. there is absolutely nothing like that on the 27" ACD. the matte screens are good for bright rooms with a lot of white walls, but the trade-off is that 'screen door' effect you see close up.

i've got the 27" ACD right next to a 26" Samsung (with matte) and there is no comparison. i traded in a bunch of my Amex points last night for gift cards so I could go buy another 27" ACD this weekend :D

i'll be craigslisting the Samsung

Power usage

Has anyone put a watt-meter on the new 27" ACD yes to see the typical power draw? Would be good to know with and without speakers, camera and usb.

First post and hello everyone!

Anandtech has reviewed the 27 inch cinema display

Conclusion: Good, but not great

Review Link

I still want one though. Its the perfect match for any macbook pro owner (provided its not too old a model)

The Anandtech reviewer seemed to like the display overall but claims there can be issued with glare when watching movies with dark colors.

For any ACD27 owners, does anyone have any noticeable problems when watching movies in a dark room? I am also curious if any owners have any issues with the bright LED backlight, thanks!

Damn MiniDisplay won't work on my 2006 MBP without getting a 3rd party adaptor. Now I have to get a Dell 27" that's more expensive than the Apple 27" LED.
get a new macbook?

if you sold your current mbp and bought a new one, would you have enough to offset the cost of the dell monitor?

Waiting for delivery

Ships: Oct 12
Delivers: Oct 15

I have ordered 27" on 27th last month!

Website says the delivery is 5-7 business days (US).
But it looks more like 15-17 business days.

Now that I have ordered, can't work until it comes. Ughhh!!!!
What can I do???

Just picked the 27" ACD from the Rosedale Mall in Minneapolis... It replaces the ACD 30"... What a night and day difference! You can only see the glare if you really look for it... The text and graphics just pop on the screen! Talk about sharp and brilliant! Way better than the 30" IMHO! My two ACD 20" next to it are dull and yellow in comparison... Time to sell those off as well!

Atlona DP-400 does not work with Radeon 4350 Dual-Link DVI card in my Dell.

This sucks. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong here. I have the new 27" Cinema Display and it works perfectly with my Late 2008 MacBook Pro. But on my 2008 Dell Inspiron 530, I bought a new Radeon 4350 video card with Dual-Link DVI out which can handle the 2560 x 1600(1440) resolution. The thing just doesn't work! Very very frustrating. All the specs point to them being able to work. So I've got $150 locked up in the Atlona DP-400 and the $50 video card for the Dell and it's not working! I'm not a happy camper here. It seems the 27" ACD will only display anything from the Dell if the resolution is set to 1280 x 720 or lower. It's dual-link DVI and max capability of 2560 x 1600. What's the problem?

This is all so new. I don't know what the solution is and don't much want to buy things and just TRY to find a solution. Now I have to possible return the Atlona adapter and the video card. Both of which will have restocking fees!

Does anyone know of any sure fire PCI express video cards for my Dell Inspiron 530 that would work with the new 27" ACD? I want just this one ACD on my desk for both my MacBook Pro and my Dell which I use pretty sparingly these days. Thanks.

Does anyone else see two groups of light emanating directly to the left and right of the center of the bottom speaker grill of the 27" display when in a completely dark room?

I was watching a movie from bed last night for the first time on the new display and couldn't help but notice these two glowing parts of the speaker grill. It's not bad, just curious if it's normal as I didn't experience this on my old 24".

I had just ordered my 27" LED Cinema Display this afternoon around 12pm EST and just got my shipping notice like about an hour ago. Expected to get it tomorrow with standard shipping! Can't wait to hook it up to my Mac Pro been without a screen for couple days now since I sold my dual 24" LED Cinema Display setup.

You're going to fall in love all over again... I just love splitting an open window between my old monitor and this new 27"... Talk about clarity! I might be able to toss my glasses! It really is that big of a difference... Let me know what you think of it when you get it... Truly amazing.

HOW DID YOU DO? I ordered 10 days ago and I still have to wait another 10 days. Would you please let me know where you ordered from? (I ordered from California near LA.) I think I will call Apple to complain!!!

Yeah I agree, I went to the apple store last week and saw the 27" on display and its like looking at the retina display from the iPhone 4 compared to the iPhone 3Gs, so its like comparing the 27" to the 24" and practically fell in love with it. Decided to get rid of both my 24" LED Cinema Displays as soon as I could to order the new 27" can't wait!

Well I live in Maryland near the DC area. I have no idea how I did it? The only bad part is, Apple used FedEx which I have big problems with. They always go end up going to another neighborhood but same street but is cut off but a landmark (school) and I usually have to call in to give them directions and delays the shipment. I just called FedEx to give them my number just in case the driver can't find it but they informed me that FedEx doesn't have the package yet. Order status on apple site says Estimated Delivery: Oct 5th, 2010 and same with FedEx. So I really hope it comes on the 5th =]

EDIT: So I just checked the tracking number and the delivery date changed to Oct 6th which isn't so bad. But two days right after I ordered is pretty fast, usually anything I order from Apple takes about 3-14 days.

Yes, there is definitely two places on the bottom where the backlight shines through the grill. It is very dim though and the screen will always be way brighter than it so it's not a big deal.

Now I must go to my local Apple Store and purchase one as soon as I can get through these morning meetings! :)

You won't regret it... I have been using my Mac Pro even more now that I got the monitor... Doesn't hurt the eyes trying to see the small text... Everything is so clear and bright compared to the ACD 30"!

Finally got mine shipped out on Thursday and Friday and delivered Yesterday and that's here in Canada.

I've not seen it anywhere in the stores still, yet. :(

Just got my 27" LED Cinema Display! and my eyes just went O.O when I set it up on my desk, def worth upgrading from the dual 24" was getting tired of moving my head side to side. Eventually I'll go back to dual setup and maybe get another 27" in the future if I ever feel a need for more pixel space. But I am absolutely happy with my 27" ACD.

Edit: To anyone else who bought a 27" off the Apple online store, did anyone notice that the box was double sealed? the original seal on the bottom was already slit open and then resealed with another, I did a bit searching around and people say its due to custom inspection which I can understand but was wondering if anyone else encountered this as well.

27'' Owners: May Seem like a silly question, but I need to know...

Does the MagSafe connector from the 27 Cinema Display come with a little piece of plastic to cover/protect the port(at the end of the cable)? The Power Adapters packed in with the macbook, and the ones that are sold separately, do.
