Ahhhh man! I ordered a BTO last friday as soon as i could and the delivery window was: 21 Dec, 2013 - 2 Jan, 2013

Now it states: 02 Jan, 2013 - 07 Jan, 2013
Probably because of the payment method i chose: bank transaction. The transaction was confirmed this morning. After that they adjusted the delivery window.

This sucks :)

I paid apple instantly and got delivery 7-8th of January....so learn to live with it bro ;) you wouldn't have gotten it before the world ends anyway.

Same here, GRRRR!

What I dont understand is...shipment dispatches in 2-3 weeks. That means worst case 3 weeks, which would be 22 of December. But delivery says 7-8th of January. So we are talking a minimum of 16 days in shipping time after it gets dispatched??? Why? Is TNT taking holiday for 2 weeks while holding my machine or something?

Yea, I don't understand either. I can't take THAT long to ship a bloody iMac... :p

It usually gets sent out as a large freight shipment along with many other products. From China it enters the country and it gets sorted and the product receives an individual tracking number. The items then get distributed throughout the country. It is quite the logistical feat to efficiently complete a shipment like this. Remember, they don't come from a warehouse in the country, it comes straight from the storage warehouse in China when it comes to pre-release products.

Oh, I didn't know that it was different, when it is a pre-release product. :)

Just called and inquired about adding a Magic Trackpad, and the super nice chap on the phone offered to add one on my order for free! So apparently that is still an option.

As far as a delivery date goes, he emphasized that they are doing all they can to get new products to customer before Christmas. "Even though it might not say 'Expedited' on your order, we are expediting it. We have arranged a holiday shipping program with the carriers to try to get the new items to customers as quickly as possible. It all depends on customs delays. Your iMac could take only a couple days to get through customs, or maybe a lot longer. That's what your estimated order date is what it is, to allow for time in customs."

He also said that paying for expedited shipping wasn't worth the money, as it probably won't effect the overall delivery date more than a day or two, but possibly not at all due to the holiday delivery program they've established with the carriers.

So take that for what it's worth.

Ordered this on Friday when I got home. Would have liked it before Christmas since I'm on vacation until Jan 2nd, but I don't expect it till the 4th.

Hoping I don't regret the 675MX. I don't have any plans to do anything remotely graphics intensive, so it should be fine. The whole machine is overkill for anything I'll be doing. I suspect their delivery estimates are padded and hoping mine shows up between the holidays so I have a few days off with it. I'm more excited for it than I thought I would be. :)

Can anybody recommend ram options to update to 32GB?

No you definitely wouldn't. As the rightful owner, you can do whatever you want with it.

And what do you mean if it breaks on the seller? You mean the buyer?

Yes, my fault I meant if it breaks on the buyer. Do they have the usual standard 1-year warranty? I mean they should and it should be honored, just checking though.

While you have "right of first sale," I'm not sure the warranty is transferable. Presumably, the failure rate is very small, as these keyboards have been around for a while, so it isn't likely to suffer from first generation production issues. Just price it competitively, as it cost you nothing, then tell the buyer that while it is new, they are on their own if it breaks. Let them try to get it fixed.

It looks like the 21.5-inch model is shipping early. Many BTO buyers were quoted 7-10 business days, but are starting to get shipment notices for delivery in the next couple of days. I wonder if the 27-inch model will begin shipping as they are built or if Apple will wait until a predetermined launch date (it looks like a lot of us have the 21st as the lower bound of our expected delivery date)?

I ordered mine later in the day on the first day they were available to order. I am really hoping for delivery by Christmas eve but it doesn't seem likely. They would have to start shipping very early for that to happen...

I guess we won't know much else till the first 27's start the ship process.

I hope so! I still don't get that 2-3 weeks before dispatched from Friday means getting in 2nd week in January (for me) that's 3 weeks of shipping only. Doesn't make much sense.

It appears that Apple might be playing this one a bit conservative. With the launch of the rMBP this summer, they ran into a lot of shipping delays and some people got them early, while others got them very late. I think they are trying to under promise and over deliver this time. Especially with the holidays around the corner, I doubt they want to promise having it arrive before the holidays and then have it slip by a day or two and be late. I wouldn't be surprised if your iMac doesn't ship before the 21st and arrives sometimes before or after Christmas, depending on the actual ship date.

BTO 27" ordered today with a quoted delivery date of January 2nd -8th. So much for XMAS playtime.
