Do you know if we will get an email once our orders goes from processing to "Preparing for shipment"?

It'd sure save me refreshing my orders page every half hour.:D:mad:

No, you get an email a bit after it turns to shipped.

The random fulfillment may also have to do with how credit cards are authorized from bank to bank.

They told me when I called that all BTO's were expedited and if I changed it would hold up my delivery, so I just went with what they told me and didn't change anything.

This is exactly what happened to me. Not super sure if I'm glad that I listened though.

Its pretty clear that despite what people were told, there was a difference between those who had standard shipping and those who either choose or were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to expedited shipping.

Standard Shipping = UPS World Ease. This is a service where the whole load is batch-cleared by US Customs. Apple will frequently use this for new product delivery. The first departure of these seems to have departed collectively from Shanghai at 10:50pm local on December 10. My guess would be that this load goes to ANC and later to SDF (Louisville) and they enter the UPS system near the end of this week for delivery by next Tuesday or so.

Expedited Shipping = Fedex Express International. This has a 3 business day transit time from China, where Fedex picks them up, and sends through their typical channel (flights to Tokyo, Oakland or Memphis is most common) and they are delivered perhaps as early as Wednesday but likely Thursday or Friday to those who have this service.

Wish I had convinced Apple to give me expedited, but at the end of the day I'm still happy my 2.9 Ghz with 1TB Fusion ordered at 12:05am Pacific via the EDU channel shipped today, at least a week earlier than I'd expected.

truthfully, I was prepared for close to or after xmas.

How many ordered were placed on NOV 30 ?

Just curious.....
every body is expecting around 13th dec. for their BTO placed on Nov. 30 .
i have placed order on 1st Dec. and its still showing Processing..and i can still see " Cancel Items " button under my account..

What do you guys think....how many orders they have received from Nov 30 ??

Does it mean, i sud also expect my dates to be changed from Jan 02 - -8 to dec 20th ??? since i placed on 1st Dec ??

I have next day delivery and they shipped it with UPS.

You're the first person I've seen post on here who has next day delivery and has had their iMac already ship. Interesting the 2-3 day shipping items are being shipped via FedEx, but next day delivery is being shipped by UPS. What specific shipping service are they using with UPS next day delivery (what does it say on your order)?

In my Apple account it says Next Day shipping, and on UPS' tracking page it says world ease and shipped by UPS Worldwide Expedited. I can't see a delivery estimate there, only the confirmation Email for the shipment stated the 18.

It will be interesting to see if "all BTO shipments are expedited". My iMac is, I think, on the plane that is just now landing in Anchorage. My UPS tracking does show "WORLD EASE" and "UPS Worldwide Expedited" shipping, but UPS has not given me an estimated delivery date, I expect that will be added when it is scanned through customs in Anchorage.

My only "estimated delivery date" so far, was on the Apple email which indicated a non-expidited Dec. 18 delivery. If they are expediting all orders, I suspect to first see that on the UPS tracking page.

So, looking towards tomorrow, it appears that orders that shipped today changed status to "Preparing to ship" late last evening (U.S. East coast time). I guess we can all wait and see what happens in six hours or so...

Not really, the man's excited to receive his iMac, can you blame him? It's right before Christmas where everybody is in a "receiving" mood :D

BTW mine is still processing. Ship DAMN YOU, SHIP!!!

I'm excited to receive my iMac as well. Tracking flights, especially if you already have an estimated delivery date after shipping, it's a tad excessive.

Just wondering if I´m going to call apple and ask for expedited shipping? I live in norway, so my delivery date is 7-8th of january. Just going to ask again, anyone in Europe been able to ask/pay for speed delivery???
I think a minimum of 3 week delivery from shipping day is ridiculous.

Excessive, yes.
But you must admit, if you had the information, you'd like to know as well.

Please let us know when that plane is refueling!! ;-)

27" i7 680mx 1Tb fusion ordered 11/30 00:33PST (CA)
Called last week to try to get "expedited shipping" which bumped it up to 12/21-28

no CC charge, still Processing with Cancel Button
reading this thread makes me anxious...

Not sure where the problem is, it's not like anybody researched the pilots private background and home address. It's funny to go to the extend of tracking the flight, but I wouldn't count it as a negative.

So is there any point to checking obsessively during the day or will it only happen overnight? Did anyone have their status change in the past five hours or so?

My account has been charged for my system but I'm still stuck in PROCESSING.

How much extra is the expedited shipping?

I'm in the exact same boat except I ordered it fully spec'd. :(

I think that you're SPOT-ON.

I went with Standard Shipping on my original order . . . called Apple Customer Service on 12/1 and requested that they take some more money from me and change/bump my shipping to 2-3 (while emphasizing that I didn't want to do ANYTHING if it was going to disturb the order) and the CSR very kindly made the change.

I never have received an email from Apple for the change or additional charges.

My Order Status page reflects that change (went from 12/24-12/31 TO 12/21-12/28) but I fully expect/anticipate that when my iMac does ship, it's gonna be via UPS as the carrier.

It just reeks of being overly obsessive. I like Macs a lot and spent quite a bit on this latest imac, but I'm not close to that point where I'm counting the seconds or tracking the planes exact arrival time before it enters another sorting and distribution center. It's a bit too far, in my eyes.
