Same thing happens every year, US couriers have large storage capacity at their HUBS so things can get shipped in advanced for distribution within the US on release date.

I wouldnt expect international iMac's to ship until late this week / early next - and thats for those with 20-24th delivery dates.

Ok i just rang Apple and the rep said there was no expedited shipping to people in Australia. However he was adamant that the delivery time stated when i ordered it( 20th to the 24th) was accurate and i could even get it earlier. :D

So there's a glimpse of hope my delivery date is 21-28 just give it to me before Christmas Apple, please?!?!?

I highly, highly doubt that rep has any idea what is going on in China right now.

When Apple said that everyone had expedited, did they mean "Shipped by UPS Worldwide Expedited". I am not expedited and this is just a product name that appears in my shipping info. I believe that the people who paid for 2-3 day shipping will get theirs via Fed Ex. The rest of us will get standard UPS that came from China via "UPS Worldwide Expedited" which is a slogan mark by UPS. It doesn't mean that it was actually expedited.

Just curious.....
every body is expecting around 13th dec. for their BTO placed on Nov. 30 .
i have placed order on 1st Dec. and its still showing Processing..and i can still see " Cancel Items " button under my account..

What do you guys think....how many orders they have received from Nov 30 ??

Does it mean, i sud also expect my dates to be changed from Jan 02 - -8 to dec 20th ??? since i placed on 1st Dec ??

I ordered mine on Nov. 30th around 9-ish in the morning CST. I haven't got a shipping notification yet, so I'm not expecting it on the 13th. My card has been charged, and if it happens to ship tomorrow I'll get it Friday the 14th at the earliest. It'll be next week if it ships any later than that.

My card has been charged and it still shows cancel items on mine, so you're likely to see that button for a while.

Some info to share:

The international department at UPS customer service knows the exact delivery date of your iMac while its not shown on the tracking page. Anyone who's got a ten minute break from whatever you're doing could call and see :)
Apple's estimate is 18th but UPS just told me mine is coming this Friday.. This makes it a great weekend! :D

I ordered mine on the UK Apple higher-education store within the first 15 or so minutes of orders going live here in the UK.

Mine was a 27", 3.4 i7, 680MX, 1TB Fusion, 8GB with wireless keyboard, magic trackpad and battery charger. Shipped by standard shipping.

My estimated delivery has always said 21st Dec to 2nd Jan. Still waiting on 'Processing Items'. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what it says in the morning.

I do have hope though, I ordered a base 21" for my parents last Saturday with "5-7 day dispatch", it arrived on the Tuesday! :)

I called last week and got expedited for free via UPS. From what I was told just now by UPS, delivery on the fifth business day seems pretty fast to me. It's from Far East after all if you know what I mean. I'd call it expedited... FedEx might be one day earlier though according to some early posts saying a delivery for Thursday. But again a fifth-day delivery upgrade for free is good enough for me and a nice gesture from Apple. Just to share some thoughts since Apple has been providing a real good customer service based on my personal experience.

My thought exactly. Let the obsessive refreshing begin.

Honestly I think it may be more effective to obsessively refresh your list of credit card charges... Just checked mine... nothing from Apple.

I know a few people who had theirs shipped called Apple and had shipping upgraded... But I wonder if any of them accepted free stuff... Like a mouse or trackpad.

Seeing that I placed my order as early as I did, I'm starting to feel like I made a deal with the devil :(

"Hey why don't you take this free mouse (and wait for all eternity to get your iMac) as a token of our appreciation for your patience!"

So still can someone explain to me how are people getting free stuff ?????

Its pretty clear that despite what people were told, there was a difference between those who had standard shipping and those who either choose or were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to expedited shipping.

Standard Shipping = UPS World Ease. This is a service where the whole load is batch-cleared by US Customs. Apple will frequently use this for new product delivery. The first departure of these seems to have departed collectively from Shanghai at 10:50pm local on December 10. My guess would be that this load goes to ANC and later to SDF (Louisville) and they enter the UPS system near the end of this week for delivery by next Tuesday or so.

Expedited Shipping = Fedex Express International. This has a 3 business day transit time from China, where Fedex picks them up, and sends through their typical channel (flights to Tokyo, Oakland or Memphis is most common) and they are delivered perhaps as early as Wednesday but likely Thursday or Friday to those who have this service.

Wish I had convinced Apple to give me expedited, but at the end of the day I'm still happy my 2.9 Ghz with 1TB Fusion ordered at 12:05am Pacific via the EDU channel shipped today, at least a week earlier than I'd expected.

Actually this is not completely accurate. For those of you who have UPS shipment and tracking. Go to you tracking and click on the tab to the right side of the UPS tracking tab that says "Worldwide Expedited" this will give you the time frames for the shipments. All that the World Ease means is the ability to clear customs quickly with a group of shipments for one area. So my guess is this first shipment that we are all discussing is going to one country, the US. Again, World Ease is what allows the many systems to clear customs at the same time. All of the shipments are UPS Worldwide Expedited and according to all of this, we should actually have this batch by the end of the week. I would imagine by giving us the delivery "by" date of the 18th would allow for delays because it clearly states that these shipments are a 4-5 business day transport. Its all there people just gotta read your tracking labels. Best of luck to all and enjoy when you get them. Also, in reference to this quoted post that states that UPS is standard shipping. There is a standard shipping option for UPS but it is a ground shipment between the 48 continental united states, mexico, and canada. Worldwide Expedited shipments which uses more than 60 countries and territories is what we have being used for the ones who have UPS anyways. I hope this helps. In my opinion many of us will see our packages at the end of this week. Thats just my opinion.

For you that stated UPS Worldwide Expedited was a slogan for UPS, it is a shipping option. Non of these systems coming from China are standard shipments. Standard shipping is a ground shipping service available for only the 48 continental united states, canada, and mexico. 4-5 business days is the UPS Worldwide Expedited service and "standard" as far as what apple tells us on the website when we order and is free. This is why when people talk to a CSO from Apple they state that all the shipments are expedited. In a sense they are, because that is the shipping product they chose. It is still a 4-5 business day shipment regardless. Peace.

I got a free trackpad as well as free 2-3 day shipping and my delivery should be 12/13 according to Fedex.

Hmm... Toughest decision now is if I should call out sick that day, or Pre-sign and just leave work as soon as I see it's delivered. Unfortunately, it does not appear "Hold at FEDEX location" is available due to the size of the shipment.

This makes sense to me and what I have been trying to explain in my posts. UPS Worldwide Expedite is a 4-5 business day delivery services from asia provinces. So this Friday makes perfect sense. Hope it works out that way.

I call to inquire and try and obtain information about my order and beging talking with the CSO, make them laugh and what do you know the offer me something for free. Me being the nice person that I am accept willingly.

And that's how we do it.

:p

Call Fedex, they held my 21". Wasn't listed as an option, I had to call.

"Hold at FedEx location" appears as an option on my tracking page. Maybe it has more to do with your location
