Excessive, yes.
But you must admit, if you had the information, you'd like to know as well.

Please let us know when that plane is refueling!! ;-)
I'm tracking mine right now its been in the air approx an hour, also checking for any red flag weather alerts in said area

27" i7 680mx 1Tb fusion ordered 11/30 00:33PST (CA)

reading this thread makes me anxious...

I ordered mine on 11/30 00:49PST and it's shipped. I did choose expedited shipping right at checkout though.

It just reeks of being overly obsessive. I like Macs a lot and spent quite a bit on this latest imac, but I'm not close to that point where I'm counting the seconds or tracking the planes exact arrival time before it enters another sorting and distribution center. It's a bit too far, in my eyes.

Edited: Now I see where you're coming from, read below : )

I stand corrected, that actually is excessive ; )

I view discussing the parameters of when something is shipped, the configurations, and the shipping plan to be a far different beast than tracking flight numbers that *might* have a computer on it.

I liken it to MLB free agency talks. It's always fun to discuss where a player may sign and why, but some excessive fans go about overboard and track each individual team's private plane information and track its whereabouts from airport to airport to give them a hint.

There are probably people that would say that following a site called "MacRumors" and posting in a forum filled with speculative shipping dates and schemes to get free expedited shipping is a bit excessive as well. Let the man (or woman) have their fun, it's not hurting anyone.

So is there any point to checking obsessively during the day or will it only happen overnight? Did anyone have their status change in the past five hours or so?

My account has been charged for my system but I'm still stuck in PROCESSING.

I doubt it would change as it's currently 6am in China. They need to sleep too!! Our best bet is for it to change after we go to bed (as they are nearing the end of their work day).

It actually makes perfect sense. In the morning/afternoon over there, they put our systems together... and by the time they head home from work (When we are waking up in the morning) it's being shipped out to us.

I didn't tell him to stop, but I will point out that patience is a virtue and tracking specific checking points to the exact minute the plane arrives in Alaska is incredibly obsessive. I'm just pointing it out. I'm the guy who points his finger at something weird and says, "That's weird."

In my Apple account it says Next Day shipping, and on UPS' tracking page it says world ease and shipped by UPS Worldwide Expedited. I can't see a delivery estimate there, only the confirmation Email for the shipment stated the 18.

I called Apple and asked if I could change my 2-3 day shipping to next day (for a fee) and the guy told me that they only do next day shipping on domestic packages (hence it wasn't an available option while checking out). I'm not sure how true this is, but when you go to buy other products on the site, it does give the option for next day...

How much extra is the expedited shipping?

They said they would do it for free, and the only change I noted was the Ships in 2-3days. Nothing says Expedited on the order.

Anyone got a uk shipping yet? Mines still processing expected 21st-2nd... I can see my imac sitting on my desk already :apple:

Exactly! Most of us are excited about this and we have been waiting a long time...be as excited as you want and don't worry about any buzz killers. :D

Ordered 11-30 at 8:00 am and no charge to my credit card, still, gulp, processing.

I don't know about that, I had just asked for expedited and that's what had appeared in my account. I don't know if it'll actually make a difference, ultimately we will all have our new computers to enjoy. If you take a step back from the whole thing and consider for how long we've been patiently waiting for the iMacs - what difference will a couple of days make?
