27" iMac delivery in the UAE

I certainly hope it gets here sooner. But I see no real reason why it should, tbh.

On another note, what's the first thing you guys are gonna do when your iMac arrives?

P.S. Is it just me or is the tracking number not working on DHL's website? (Maybe it takes a day to register?)

I've got the same delivery date but its not always right, it's usually shorter, the tracking will work tomorrow.

First thing I would do is stare at it for a couple of minutes then I'll plug it in and get it to work and look for any issues then instal 32gb of ram.

HI Guys,
I am glad all our macs has shipped.. the tracking takes 24 hours to start working.. I am also getting expected delivery 30DEC.. But from Previous experience, it shouldn't take more that a couple of days.. 10 days with dhl express doesn't make any sense..

What brand is your 32GB Memory, and from where did you get them.. I was thinking of buying from amazon, but if i can find them with almost the same price here, that would be great..

It's crucial I've bought it directly from crucial Europe website they deliver to the UAE, they have great customer service and they are really fast.

P.S when checking out you would see that your going to pay for VAT TAX no worries they won't charge you.
 
so i contacted dhl and they told me that the tracking number dose not exist on their system. The said they will get back to me at 1:30pm.. will wait and update you.. has any tired contacting dhl?? anyone got their tracking to work??

hey rocafella, this is really frustrating, let alone having to wait all that time.. and now we are still playing the waiting game.. looks like we are not getting the imacs before the 30th.. at least they will keep each other warm :mad:

Lol :) yeah this is B.S we should get the information by now, but DHL express is very fast, it's 2-3 days delivery maximum, I hope when the tracking number works it would show that its already on its way to Dubai, BTW did they charge you yet for the purchase ?

No they didn't charge me yet.. Isn't this wired..is it a Xmas present.. maybe santa decided to send me a free imac.. lol.. Did they charge you?

No they didn't charge me, I hope that's not the issue for it to get delayed with tracking, I just noticed that the shipping date is 21 December, but it was shipped yesterday.

No I don't think its a payment issue, if it was.. they wouldn't have shipped it. I think we will get charged either when we get them delivered.. or when they appear on the DHL Tracking .. this is really frustrating.. :mad:

I have figured it out, it's like de Vinci code with apple, I have received the shipping notification from apple at 09:05 pm UAE time, that makes shanghai 01:05 am 21st of December, so our packages are coming from shanghai and the time we should see an update throw DHL is later today or tomorrow.

Mine departed shanghai at 17:36, if its the same time as yours then its the same flight.:cool:

yep... same time.. looks like they are getting to know each other.. its most probably a tracking number for the cargo.. which is holding a couple of imacs going to dubai... cant wait.. :) still no charge from apple store the.. really strange.. when do they charge you.. ??

we well soon find out.. imac at sort facility now.. lol.. i have never tracked a product like this before.. the anticipation is killing me.... really eager to test out the 680 Card.. some serious gaming on the imac.. ;)

by the way.. its 8 house and 30 min from shanghai to dubai.. so just maybe delivery will be on sunday..

contacted DHL... Expected Delivery is on sunday.. HIP HIP HORRY...
they said that the cargo should arrive tom afternoon.. and delivered on Sunday.. lets see how it goes.. What is the first thing your planning to do with your new mac?? :):)

No, but seriously, I've never really used a mac before. So I'll probably set it up on my desk and try to get acquainted with Mac OS X Lion and how it all works, i.e. gestures on trackpad, etc.

Then I'll probably install the essential software that I need: Firefox, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition, Lightroom, Office

Essential apps from their App Store: NYTimes, BBC News, Facebook, Flipboard, Twitter, Skype...well, you get the gist.

And then probably install Boot Camp so I can install Windows 7 too and all the same programs on that too. (Though I'm not 100% sure if I should add Windows 7 tbh)
 
shipment status update: clearance delay... :( :(
dont know how will that effect delivery date.... i guess it will move from sunday to monday... how about you is it also delayed

I personally stopped using windows all together... bootcamp is good if you want to play games that are otherwise not found on mac.. other than that for all your digital work, we will be much more happier with the mac os and the stability it offers....

i've just checked, its delayed and the delivery date is now 27 dec, It has to be a clown, why the hell is this sh+t happening.
