I agree that this seems like an awfully weak set of contestants. And I hate to say it, but I think the girls are even weaker than the guys (although we'll see how things go tonight).
I'm pulling for Chris, although I didn't like his smarting off to Simon last night. Not that I'm a big Simon Cowell fan either, but it really did just make the whole scene uncomfortable to watch. I was pleasantly surprised by the beatbox kid (and I suppose we should learn his real name) -- didn't know he could actually sing before last night. Also like Jared (tall black guy) and Brandon (former backup singer).
Sundance Head definitely needs to go. Not sure who else should get the axe this week.
P.S. OK, according to the web site, hair gel boy's name is Blake Lewis.
Oh yeah- Sundance shouldn't have gotten this far. He could stay on key at all! He was bad last week as well. Thomas should have gotten in over him.

I know one of the guys who made it to the final 40 (or whatever the count was by the end of Hollywood week), but got cut during last week's "final cut" (i.e. he had to take the sad elevator ride down). I'm seeing this lousy bunch of guys, and thinking Errick can sing circles around most of 'em. 🙄
Oh I'm sure there were more too. I mean, this group is the best that showed up? I refuse to believe that.

after beat box and the kid whose sister didnt make. I stopped watching because it was horrible. I think I am done with AI. Seems to me theire choices lately are not good. Only first season made it good, maybe 2 out of what 5 seasons. Ruben>Nothing, Anastasia>what happen to her. I mean most AI winners dont make it even the people on the top 20 where actually doing good for not being the winners.
Fantasia's new disc kicks. Where have you been? It's one of my favorite new albums.
But yeah, this year isn't looking good.

Well, you can't blame the show for Ruben, Fantasia, etc. America chose them to be winners, not the show. There were plenty of great contestants that could have replaced them. Remember Latoya London? She could sing a million times better than Fantasia and she wasn't annoying to boot. But America voted for Fantasia who was a good singer (definitely not great) but had little star potential.
As for this season, I definitely wasn't impressed with the guys. I liked Sunjaya, but the song was wrong for him. He has more potential than any of the others as far as I can tell.

He said something about the Teletubbies, which I think Simon might have a hand in. And while the beatbox kid was off on that song, I didn't think he ruined it. I think he actually may have some potential.

Chris Sligh is awesome, but I didn't like his song last night. Although I can see the point he was trying to make about strategizing. As he said, it's not about brown-nosing the judges, it's about getting the votes out. I hope he makes it far. BTW, that version of How Deep Is Your Love? he did with Blake Lewis was absolutely fantastic. Before that, I thought John Frusciante's version of the song was the best I've ever heard, but their version really took the cake. I would definitely buy that song as recorded by them. And the rest of the guys were extremely disappointing.

I don't know how influential it is, but she is votefortheworst.com's current "it" girl.
I wasn't too attached to A.J., but I agree that Sanjaya should have gone home last night regardless. After hearing LaKisha's and Melinda's performances for the last two weeks, in my mind it's all over but the shouting. If one of those two girls doesn't win it I will be unpleasantly surprised.

Im not sure how far infront you guys are over the pond but what happened to that Bailey Brown girl? She was from Texas (i think) she was gorgeous and could really fricking sing. I saw it when she made it to Hollywood but the next time i saw it she was no longer there?
Apparently she didn't make it past the Hollywood round. I do remember her, but she must have done poorly.

while sanjaya and antonella have deserved going to hollywood, they are not top 12 material, or have not shown us thus far
sanjaya will make the top 12 because he has the looks that a lot of the teen girls like and it will hold him maybe up to the top six, but not beyond that in my guess from seeing idol from season 2
antonella is now famous, in the same scandalous way that the "foot fetish/soft porn" girl was in an earlier season, but neither of them were out to become famous porn stars like jenna jameson so the scandal is pretty much manufactured
america votes and private photos of antonella, which were not some big budget commercial venture into the adult xxx rated industry, should not disqualify her at this point
antonella will probably not make the top 12 and in the end, she will not get as far as sanjaya, but neither of them are within a mile of melinda or lakisha who seem to be the early favorites

if the show is "American Idol" how can they keep someone like Antonella who takes wet t-shirt pics in the World War II memorial and not throw her off. That is a disgrace, and completely disrespectful to everyone who died and sacrificed his or her life for the country.

i have not seen the show tonight since i am on the western half of the us which has not, as of this post, seen it yet
so do any of you, in the three most western of time zones in the us, think anybody who has not done well will surprise us tonight?
will anybody who has done well up until now blow it?
i think sundance did not do very well until last week and now i think he can be a favorite among the men
unfortunately, i won't see tonight's show so i will come back to this post and see how you guys think the contestants sang tonight
