samantha, is that her name?...is a possibility if she starts singing songs which the audience can get into

like the judges say, "it's also about song choice"

but melinda and lakisha are the two who will end up in the finals

looks may keep sanjaya and antonella around longer than they should be, but not into the top six, and certainly not in the finals of american idol

BTW...again i am not near a tv...i have guests over...can you let me know which 4 got kicked off idol this week? thanks in advance

OK, tonight was OK except for two things- Sanjaya is still there and Sabrina should not have gone home. I am happy that Antonella is gone and I won't miss Sundance either, but come on- Sabrina? That was a shame.

I agree completely. Sabrina should still be in it.

Good riddance to Antonella. Her singing is really weak.

For me, the best moment of last night's episode was how the judges reacted to Sundance's elimination. There was a little bit of a rant about how America had made a mistake, that this was a singing competition and some of the people who made it to the top twelve weren't the best singers, etc. -- and all of a sudden Paula chimed in with, "Nothing against you, Sanjaya!" :D

The truth is- Sundance deserved to leave just as much as Sanjaya did. He's been terrible except for his audition. He was consistently off-key and is in desperate need of a good vocal teacher who will teach him control. Sanjaya has one more week, that's it. I can handle that. And Miss Haley, your number's up too sweetie.

your final 12

Chris Sligh, 28, Greenville, S.C. (popular with judges)
Sanjaya Malakar, 17, Federal Way, Wash. (indian guy with sister)
Brandon Rogers, 29, Los Angeles (background singer)
Philip Stacy, 29, Jacksonville, Fla. (father that missed daughter's birth for audition)
Blake Lewis, 25, Bothell, Wash. (beatboxer)
Chris Richardson, 22, Chesapeake, Va.
Melinda Doolittle, 29, Brentwood, Tenn. (background singer)
Gina Glocksen, 22, Naperville, Ill. (season 5 hollywood reject)
Haley Scarnato, 24, San Antonio, Texas
Jordin Sparks, 17, Glendale, Ariz.
Stephanie Edwards, 19, Savannah, Ga.
Lakisha Jones, 27, Flint, Mich. (single mom)

i really thought fox should have put all of the 24 auditions online before the studio shows so that the fans can grow with each one of them, instead of just the few we get to see on tv. i also put some footnotes on some contestants from the auditions.

Here's hoping.
Another week of that pasty singing... I can't stand the thought!

when sundance was on and singing in tune i think he was one of the better guys, but that's not saying much with the dominant female singers this season

i think haley didn't sing that well this week, but she was better in other weeks and song choice will be her only salvation at this point...she could last a month, maybe

sanjaya has the teenage girls on his side and i think that's the biggest demographic of the show...maybe he has two weeks ;)

After watching last night's show, its obvious that the women are much better singers than the guys overall.

I think the best of the bunch are Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin.

I'd like to see either Sanjaya or Brandon eliminated next.

I've stopped watching after Hollywood week. I'll probably resume once it gets down to the final four. There's just too much filler in between, that I find myself feeling like I wasted an hour for nothing. And when America votes off your favourite contestant, you feel like shouting and throwing bottles across the room in anger. I don't need any more of that drama.

A quick glimpse in this thread is all the American Idol news I need. Thanks. :)

I'm rooting for the backup singer to win it all, so I can see her turn into a self-centered bitchy diva. Oh yeah!

I'm afraid that whatever sinister forces have kept Sanjaya in the competition for this long are probably going to continue to keep him in it for the near term. But I don't know how to predict who's going to leave at this point. Haley really botched her song last night, but she looked good doing it (despite her hideous dress). I would think that she and Brandon are probably in trouble tonight.

I agree with you about Sanjaya.

Even though I'm not a fan of Haley's singing, I felt bad for her last night. She screwed up badly and she knew it. She may be around a little while longer, but there are much better singers than her in this competition.

It'll be either Haley or Sanjaya tonight. Please God let it be Sanjaya.

I agree with you, but American Idol lost its luster with me during the tryouts. The producers put too many bad people on. It's a little sadistic watching people who can't sing just to make a fool of themselves.

DialIdol predicts...

If you put any stock in DialIdol.com's predictions, tonight's bottom three are Blake, Chris (Sligh) and Stephanie. Their top three are Melinda, LaKisha and Sanjaya.

I second that, that list is absurd!

Sanjya in the top 3 and Blake and Stephanie on the bottom 3?

stephanie should be in top six, imho

blake is kind of in the middle and not so great, but not the worst of all...sanjaya is prolly close to the bottom but will make it to top 6 due to popularity with teen girls...and we all know they are THE major demographic of the show

but i don't think sanjaya will win due to teeny bopper girls...at least, he he, i hope not

in season 2, teeny bopper girls loved clay but he didn't win because rueben was clearly the more mature singer

that list is absurd. Are you telling me Sanjaya will be in the top 3? He is the worst person to make the top 12 of all time. Last night solidified that.
Ah, so true. I don't see how anyone can be voting for him. He's worse than that Red Headed kid from, what was it, last season? I can't remember anymore. But honestly that kid cannot sing, at least compared to everyone else.

So it was Brandon tonight. I also thought it was rather telling that it was all guys in the bottom 3.

Sorry you didn't get your wish last night. When Ryan told Sanjaya he was still in, my wife screamed "NOoooooo......" at the TV. It really must be those pre-teen girls keeping him from being eliminated at this point.

And yeah, it is interesting that the bottom three were all guys. I didn't expect that. I thought Haley would be in the bottom three for sure. I can't help but wonder if she got a lot of sympathy votes because of her emotional scene after performing Tuesday night.

I'm sure she did get the sympathy vote. Still, I'd rather be seeing her or Brandon another week than Sanjaya.

FYI Sanjaya, i heard today in Howard Stern that the reason hes till in American Idol is bec Stern is telling the listeners to vote for him. At first it was a joke till the news media starting claiming the voting process was soo influenced by it. So now hes claiming to keep voting for him till the very end.

So theres your answer as to why hes still in AI
