I agree. I can't believe they raised the price for a 16 GB phone. Well for the 6+ that is.

why shouldn't they? it has more features, and uses more material... I'd be confused if it was the same price... Thats like expecting to buy a 27 inch iMac with 16gb of ram and expecting it to cost the same amount as a 21.5 inch with 8gb...

You're paying $100 extra for the increase in screen size, some extra features, and better battery life than the regular version.

Sounds about right to me.

The fact that it isn't being advertised as more than 1 GB should be proof enough. If they increased it, they'd have mentioned it.
Apple has never mentioned the amount of RAM in their iOS devices as far as I recall. I've always had to look for that info via reviews or Wikipedia.

399 for a ****ing phone at 64gb is INSANE.

I was upgrading to that until the price came out. **** apple. Been with them since the very first iPhone and never seen them pull a stupid stunt like this under jobs.

Makes no sense.

Why is it insane?

I paid $399 for my 64GB iPhone 5S and you'd be paying the same as me when mine is 4" and yours 5.5"

And the reviews of the leaked 4.7 hardware, at least, said 1 GB. So there's that.

Apple is a premium phone, deal with it or go get an Android....

I love all the fanboys defending everything apple does. If you question apple you're an idiot!!!!
I'm using a HTC One M8 and love it. Was going to get an iPhone 6+ but after seeing the same old 1gb RAM, no new features, looks like garbage, and costs ridiculous amounts of money, I'm going to get a Note 4. And don't call me a cheapwad, I've been buying phones full retail for longer than you knew it was possible. Last 3 phones I bought full retail was a 5s, HTC One M8, and GS3. I have no problem spending the money when its worth it. This phone is not worth it.

I had an Xperia Z2 ( 3gb ), I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 ( 2gb ) and I owned an iPhone 5s ( 1gb ). The ONLY reason why Android needs to much damn ram is because the OS is so bloody unoptimised. I have NEVER had any issues with iOS running out of ram, because it uses it very efficiently.

The experience on iOS is far superior to anything that Android has shown me.

This was a smart business move by Apple. It's insulting to customers, but smart business.

Most customers buy the base model anyway.

For the rest, 32GB would have been sufficient. But, with Apple knowing that, that's likely the reason they axed the 32gb version instead of making 32gb the base model. Basically it forces those who would have gotten the 32gb version to buy the 64gb version for an extra 100. Whereas if they made 32gb the base then the mass majority would have stayed with 32gb. Essentially they guaranteed that more people would buy the bigger versions this year, thus maximizing their profit.

Crappy move for customers. Insanely smart for business

Sorry just trying to decipher all the mixed information around the net. I take it the 32gb has gone, so how much is the 64gb 4.7 inch phone likely to be? I have a 32gb iPhone 5 and am a little concerned I am going to be paying significantly more for an iPhone with appropriate storage. I have a 16gb ipad and it was a mistake as apps just fill it up. I'll need the next option which I assume is the 64gb.

6:
199, 299, 399 for 16, 64, 128 respectively
6 Plus:
299, 399, 499 for 16, 64, 128 respectively
5S:
99, 149 for 16, 32GB
5C:
Free for 8GB

Gotta love it, they give the bigger screen everyone begs for, than people complain about the price, and point the finger at the storage space, and completely ignoring the higher cost of the bigger screen as a factor, meanwhile ignoring the fact that they doubled the amount of storage space you now get for the mid model, to 64GB instead of 32GB like it used to be.

Sounds like paid Samsung shills posting in here.

I kind of agree. I feel they did their customers a disservice making the 16GB the entry level and simply canning the 32GB alltogether. What would the price difference have been to have the base model 32GB?

I can absolutely live with 32GB. I cannot live with 16GB. So I am stuck with 64, and I am betting there are others that fall into that category as well.

That said, Apple has certainly done their market research, and they must feel that 16GB isn't a huge sacrifice for people, otherwise it wouldn't longer exist.

Anyway, 5.5" is a must for me, more than 16GB is a must for me, so it's either 64GB or 128GB. Since I haven;t even filled half of my 64GB 5S, 64 is probably what I will go with. but the added screen releastate has me seriously thinking about something bigger for books and movies (and just foregoing getting an iPad mini alltogether, as our first gen is fine enough).

Decisions decisions.

Spot on and saddening lol.

That makes no sense.

The 64GB iPhone 6 is the same price as the 32GB iPhone 5s was. Twice the storage and a larger screen for the same price.

The 64GB iPhone 6 Plus is the same price as the 64GB iPhone 5s, but with an even larger screen.

In other words, if someone was already going to pay an extra $100 for the 32GB (iPhone 5s), they can now get twice the storage for the same price.

This is a win for customers.

I think the price is right considering Apple stuff has to be more expensive than the rest. $849 before tax for a 5.5 inch 64gb is reasonable to me

You realize that the 64GB iPhone has always been 399 right?

This is how Apple's pricing structure always work. If the iPhone 6 base model is $199, they're going to charge an extra $100 for the larger screen. Not rocket science.

Isn't it $199?

Jobs charged $599 for an 8GB phone.

I think they should have made both new phones start with 32GB, or at least the 5.5 with 32GB. We all know that an extra 16GB of memory costs them almost nothing, yet would make people seem like's worth the $100 premium for the extra phone along with the other new features.

If the difference in cost between 16GB and 32GB is $10 and Apple sells 10 million of them, you're talking a difference in revenue of $100 mllion. That's not "almost nothing."

64 GB Cellular iPad Mini is $749. Seems fair to me.

I don't even consider looking at the 16GB anymore. As soon as I saw that 128GB option, I threw my wallet at the tv. Apple can't take my money soon enough!

I kind of agree. I feel they did their customers a disservice making the 16GB the entry level and simply canning the 32GB alltogether. What would the price difference have been to have the base model 32GB?

Probably a lot. It might just be a few dollars extra per phone if only looking at it in a vacuum, but it would change peoples' buying decisions. Starting off at 32GB would satisfy too many peoples' needs, so the higher storage, higher margin options will sell less.

Apple can't be stupid with their pricing. They can't give away something for free what people are willing to pay up for, that's leaving money on the table.
