2G iPod Nano Introduced

I'm stopping at the Apple Store after work to (hopefully) get the 8GB. I wish it came in other colors. I really like the pink and the green.

Can't wait to plug my Shure E500s into something new. 🙂

It'll be sad to retire my old black 4GB, as it's almost reach the zenith of scratchedness -- where you can barely read text on the screen. It will now join the others in my iPod "Museum".

Still waiting for the regular iPod with full-coverage touch screen and virtual control wheel. 😉
 
I wanted a silver 8GB one. Now I'm torn 🙁

EDIT: Made up my mind. 4GB silver and the extra £40 in my pocket. Besides, silver'll look better in my Bose SoundDock 🙂
 
No radio in iPod ever

While many people are looking for Apple to integrate a radio tuner into the iPod it isn't going to happen.

I would prefer the option to grab a quick weather forecast, news headline or actually hear a song I don't own once in a while, but that's not the iPod way. The iPod is all about your content not someone else's.
 
glad they brought back some colors. tech in U.S. sometimes seems color challenged. 🙂

great that its up to 24hrs run time. 52% made me go gaga for a few minutes there too.😀

I still want wireless headphones from apple tho, like the logitech I have for my ipod mini only better. 😎
 
Another thing that will NEVER happen is an Apple DVR. iTV is for use with iTunes downloadable content. Apple will never release a recording device. It's not their model. They would rather you ditch your satellite and cable and go with getting your shows from iTunes - hence the iTV.

Indeed....the mini is back. The 8gig in black only is the killer though.

I'm disapointed by the lack of educational pricing, and I don't like the new look as well...

err, the old look, since they look like mini Minis.
But on the other hand, they also look more rugged, and I agree that technology is color challenged! Just wish the colors were more appealing to me-they're kind of gaudy. Oh well, if I get one it will be the 2GB model anyway for Podcasts.
 
Personally I'm getting tired of Apple and their color choices. You have to pay more for black? What if you want 8 GB but you don't want black? What then? I'm not liking the approach Apple is taking on the color choices of their products.
 
Just checked with the store and the only new iPod available with the promotion is the 30GB video, cant get the new nanos or the 80GB
 
I am pleased to see these colour iPods back. I have a 6GB Mini and i would have liked Apple to have made maybe a 6GB or 8GB Nano in different colours. If i get one of these new Nanos it would feel like a bit of a downgrade to me in terms of space. I guess that i would be gaining in other areas though. I do suspect though that Apple will up the hard drive capacity on these colour Nanos in the future.
It is a bit strange they way that they have done this though making all the colour ones 4GB and the 8GB the black one only.

I noticed also that they only support 10.3.9 and up all those who are using older Mac Software are going to face a bit of a problem if they want to buy one of these new Nanos.

NO FireWire sync support since the G5/Nano iPod's. This is why I'm crying today 🙄

You can charge your USB 2.0 iPod via FireWire, but don't hold your breath for increased FireWire support from Apple for future products.
 
I too think that the colors are ugly... there should always be a white ipod at every level.

and i think they should use ceramics

Your not paying a premium for the color, you get 8GB. What sucks is you can't get 8GB in colors, lame move on Apple's part with no reason behind it.

Get an iPod radio remote and stick it in your mouth 😉

Seriously tho, with the announcement of the BluPod (FM Radio and Bluetooth Caller ID remote) it seems 3rd parties will jump in the FM tuner add-on to compete with Apple (hopefully at a lower price).
 
I really love these new iPod nanos. They look so nice in color! I would love to have a green one, but I don't need it. I'm waiting for the true iPod video to sell my 5G and buy one of those instead. 😀

Overall, nice keynote! I have to say, though... the new Dock icon for iTunes is pretty ugly. Its interface is cool and all, but I'm going to have to get used to the "non-Aqua" feel it has. The third view mode (albums on a rack) is awe-inspiring, though. I laughed with excitement when I first saw it. 😛

They already have a radio tuner add-on if you really want one. Personally, the whole point of getting an iPod is so I can avoid radio.
 
Availability in Retail Stores?

I've got a 3-hour train journey both Saturday and Sunday, so could do with a new iPod. Did the keynote mention whether these are in the Apple retail stores immediately?
 
Honestly, with these new Nanos and the Shuffle there is simply NO competition...these revamps are just what Apple needed, and it did it perfectly...the best of Minis, the best of Nanos...AWESOME..!

The black Nano is gonna be on my shopping list now...GO APPLE!

Thanks lame. I was going to order a black one with the discount! Gahh.. well have to wait a bit then.
