2G iPod Nano Introduced

So what about the Educational Discount/ Mac nano deal

I was actually hoping to get Merom chips into the Macbook today, so i have been waiting for today to purchase my new Macbook. But i do not see the old Ipod nano's there and i suppose the new ones don't fall into the deal. Is this correct??? Also, why don't these have the EDU discount. Thanks in advance!!!!

Did anyone else read the topic and say "You got that wrong! There already was a 2G iPod nano, it's the 8G one that's interesting!"

It took a few rereads before I realised they meant "2nd Generation"
 
Un-Apple Like Design

Colors are fugly, as are the square ipod mini corners.
You would think the designer would take a trip to Tokyo once in awhile.

How about mocha chocolate, orange, or white.

Ipods used to be small status items. These look like sh**

I will take the new shuffle, at least it is small & I can hide it.
 
How cool are thenew are the new nano's and also there is a price drop for th 30GB iPod. I want one! Please. It's a real pity the black one has to be 8GB. Why can't we have all the colours or have it white?
 
Fantastic upgrade for the nano.

I will be buying one once I replace my laptop (running out of hard disk space so I had to back-up and remove my music from the laptop.)

What a great event across the board.
 
Ok I guess i won't be able to get the new nano with the student offer, which doesn;t bother me that much as I *should* get a hundred pounds back. However as it seems the price has gone down a little on the 4GB nano i added does that mean i still have to pay the old price? That seems a little unfair when it hasn't even shipped yet I'm paying more then if I had waited a couple of days? I ordered on Friday btw.
 
Seems like black is, well, the new black.

I suppose the 8GB Nano only being available in black is some kind of status thing.

Though I really like the new cases a lot as throwbacks to the Mini. I've got a 20GB 2G iPod from back in the day that's still going strong. But it's nice to know I could replace it with something as cool looking as the old Minis - especially in a year or so when Nano capacity will probably be 8-16GB (or maybe even over 20GB?!).

I personaly liked the design of the original Nano better, but im temptedto trade in my 4GB black nano for an 8 GB one!

Too bad its personalized 🙁

Which part of the new 8 GB nano is personalized? You don't have to get an engraving... 😕
 
Ordered a 2 gig at the new lower price. This will be a surprise for my brother, whose 2 gig nano (that he got free with MacBook purchase) was run over by a car a few weekends ago. He was quite unhappy. I take some responsibility for it because, following my lead, we ran across the busy street rather than walking to the nearby traffic light. The iPod fell out of his pocket when he broke into the run.

Moral of the story: don't jaywalk, kids!
 
Green iPod..I wanted a Green Mini, but my local Apple store was out when I went to buy it, but they only had Gold..so I went with it..now I can get a Green one!

Also, can anyone tell me if there's going to be gapless playback on the original nanos through a software update.

[EDIT] Does anyone know if the original iPod nano dock will work with the new nano? If I decide to upgrade, I'd rather not spend another $30 on a new dock.

i did the same thing. 😛

i figured out that maybe 4GB is good, because i have to load it in every 24 hour.. so at the same time i can change tracklist easily. i have 30 GB library so even 8GB wouldn't be enough for all my music.

i just can't see black ipod nano in same room with my powerbook and technics sl-1200 silver.
 
Can someone give me some idea when the Apple Store Birmingham UK will get the new nano's in stock ?

Its only a few minutes from my house so i believe a purchase is in order of a new Lime Green Nano 🙂

Did nobody not notice that the Nano ad shows the clickwheel glowing along with the screen? Looking at photos of the new Nano kind of kicks down that prospect, but it's a little of a let down when you realize the click wheel does not glow like in the ad.

It would be sweet though. 🙄
 
iLounge has a "First Look" article with photos of all models and accessories. They say that the new nanos have the Search and Smart Scroll feature of the new 5G iPod. Hopefully we with the plastic nanos won't miss out on that. I'm expecting an iPod Updater soon.
