Anyone experience the issue of reduced touch sensitivity with their 10.5 inch second generation iPad Pro? It mainly presents while trying to swipe with gestures or tapping. It seriously affects scrolling up and down and cross screen gesturing. It’s especially evident when playing touch intensive games, but also when trying to scroll up and down on websites. Sometimes it doesn’t respond to touch at all, other times with a delay.

I have tried resetting all settings. Setting up as new, and finally taking it in to Apple and the Genius Bar ran a diagnostic saying they could not detect any issues. They asked me to try a few more things including resetting all settings again and perhaps deleting some apps.

Here I am, still having issues after all this. Anyone else experience issues with swiping and tapping sensitivity?

Do you have a screen protector on it? Look for any blemishes and wipe it with an alcohol wipe. Also, the 10.5 iPad Pro only had one generation.

No screen protector. Wiped with microfiber cloth and cleaner.. My bad, I said 2nd gen because my 1st was a 12.9 inch iPad Pro and I got this one later. I’ve heard it referred to as a “second generation iPad Pro.”

Sadly this is a common issue I’ve seen reported many times, and I experienced myself on both the 10.5 and 12.9 2nd gen. Seems to be a hardware issue unfortunately.

Happens all the time / same here on iPad Pro 12.9

There are posts all over these forms and all over the Apple discussions forums - hard to believe that the “Apple geniuses” don’t know about this

So what’s the fix? Replacement? I still have Apple Care on my iPad.

I was having similar issues especially on websites on my 2nd gen iPP 12.9 (2017). Did a fresh install, but didn't help. I ended taking a few videos with my iPhone of me having problems.

Took it in to the Apple Store, explained about the problems and then showed the videos to the Genius. He asked me if I had tried a fresh install. After he ran diagnostics on it and then swapped it with a replacement device. Haven't had any issues since then.

The original 12.9 and the 9.7 are usually referred to as 1st gen. iPP and the 10.5 and 12.9 (2017) are usually referred to as 2nd gen iPP just like the OP said.

Since you have AppleCare might be worth asking for a replacement and see if it makes a difference?

The two 10.5 iPPs I tried recently had touch issues right out of the box.:(

Not sure if they were 2nd gen or not.

    Sadly, seems like hardware issues.

Unfortunately it does look like a hardware issue with many iPads. Take a look at the similar threads:

I went to the Apple Store and the replaced it with an iPad with the same problem (which developed in 3 months after replacement). Until Apple admits this issue and offers an official solution (so far "genius" bars don't accept it's an issue) I'm afraid there's no solution at all.

So far my issue is intermittent. It happens now and then, and while trying to determine when it happens, there are two distinct times when it happens most frequently.

    1) It seems to happen most at night, under low light conditions. I notice it most when I am at my kitchen table with only one light on. It has never happened (so far) in bright lighting conditions.

    2) Each time I have noticed the issue, the battery has been at 100% charge, either plugged in or recently topped off.

I’ll keep using my iPad to see if I can get it to happen under bright light conditions such as daylight and at less than 100% charge.
