3:01 AM EST Pre-Orders Help...

Will it be available to order on both the sprint site AND apple.com? Or just Apple? Assuming both are a possibility, which one will be faster?
 
Just received an email from Verizon reminding me to set my alarm. Pre-Orders begin at 3:01 am EDT
 
Do you guys think preordering using the iPhone apple store app may be a better way to go than apple.com?

I never used it before but it seems like it would work nicely
 
I'm sure demand won't be as high since it's relatively small update compared to the 3GS to 4 transition.
 
Personally, I don't think you need to wake up that early to get a pre-order in. Apple has ordered 25 million 4S's, and the demand for the 4S isn't expected to be as high as the 4 (given that not as many iPhone 4-ers want to upgrade to a 4S, and that most of the initial sales of the 4 were iPhone users upgrading). So you should be good if you order late in the day.

Unless of course, you want to do this out of fun. Then by all means, ignore this post.
 
So here's my dilemma: in the past, Radioshack has offered some *sweet* trade-ins or gift cards for people that buy their new phone through them, instead of Apple or the carrier. My 3GS has been going crashy-crashy for a while now, despite my best geeky efforts, so I really need a new phone. (I need a new camera, too, since mine disappeared a few weeks ago). SO, perfect timing of the 4S release.

Do I wait to see what Radioshack has to offer tomorrow morning when they open their pre-orders, or just say "screw it" and wake up at 3AM with the rest of the fanbois? It'd be nice to get even $50 back for this POS 3GS strapped to my hip.

You can trade your 3GS into Apple for about $100 bucks. Just check their site for the estimated value, you send it, and they give you an Apple gift card for the amount it's worth.
 
I'll pre-order tomorrow morning on Verizon.com. Can I pick up my phone in store or will it be shipped?
 
The guy who said that they sold out within two hours last year is full of it. I did not wake up early or anything and got mine as well. The servers were hammered however.

That's what you all said about the iPad2, and there are still scalpers standing in line! wait, maybe they just didn't understand the apple employee who told them it wasn't sold out anymore.
 
Apple has not announced a specific time for pre-ordering to begin. I personally recommend checking our site at your convenience early Friday morning
 
If i order from apple will my iPhone be shipped on the 14th or will i get it on the 14th?

Instead of trying to order through the Verizon site or the Apple site which might be super slow, is it possible to call up Verizon and have them do the preorder for me over the phone?
 
Set Phone Numbers On Preorder?

I've never preordered an iPhone before.

I have a 3GS now with AT&T. I want to preorder a 4S with Sprint via Apple's website. During the preorder process will I be able to specify that I want my number to transfer over? If not, is that something I can do with Sprint when the phone arrives? Or will I just be assigned a random number and be stuck with it?

Thanks for your help.
 
So what all do I need for the pre-order?

The plan is a shared one under my dad's name, and I have the last 4 of his social but that's it. Anything else I should have handy?

Yes when you place your order tonight (tomorrow morning to be exact) you will see a charge for the phone or just a verification of funds. Some banks will take the full amount from your available balance up front but that money will drop off after like 48 hours and be available again or you will see a charge that doesnt deduct from your balance but just verifies your funds. Either way they dont take the money when you pre-order.

Your charge will show up on your account when it delivers. So make sure you have the full funds in your account come next week to cover the charge that will go through on Wed. or Thurs. of next week when your phone ships out.

FYI ..... Don't expect to be able to get on at 12 PST 3 EST and it be ready to go.

Last year for the 4 they said this same thing and the orders here in the west coast PST Did'nt go live till like 2 or 3.

I highly doubt it will be up and running right on time.... expect to wake up or stay up for a couple hours longer than you think.

I could be wrong.... but I would bet a wad of cash I'm right.

I wouldnt wake up early at all, I highly doubt the 4S will be sold out right away, Or if at all, there is not going to be as a high demand being that most 4 owners won't switch to the 4s, this is only going to be new iPhone users and people with older 3g, 3gs models
